I´m riding the last stumpy evo... honestly, to me it´s the absolute goldy lock zone for an aggressive trail bike that does make fun on the climbs as well.
It is nice to see Specialized open another demo center. They've had one in Boulder for years and it's usually a fair bit cheaper than a typical bike shop demo, and they will install your choice of saddle and pedals (from specialized's product line of course).
Nice to see you in my childhood backyard! Great spot to ride and good throughout the year. Lots of mud in the Bay Area that makes wet riding season impossible. But not in the Redwoods! Hannah's freezing, yet no leggings? Kids these days! Thanks for another great video! TLDNR Version: At around 7:00 I was surprised at how destroyed Ridge Trail was. A friend was on his older, but very nice 26" Moots and he definitely walked lots of sections. And if I had still been on my old 26" hard tail, I would have too. But being on the new Ripley meant simply devouring that stuff without a care in the world! So much fun!!! (And that's before even getting to the flow trail!) One of my funniest bike experiences happened on the climb out there. About 25 years ago, a group of about six of us were just starting the climb and just chatting as we worked our way up the fire road. Along comes a puddle, so most of us maneuver around it. But one in our group is boxed in the middle, so he figures he'll just cruise on through it. No biggie; we were all pretty mud-splattered by then anyway. As he's mid-puddle, his front wheel immediately sinks to his axle and he flies over the bars! At all of about 3mph! Hilarious! And it happened to the strongest and probably technically best riders in the group. Just out of the blue he's OTB! Dumbfounded at how quickly it happened. Right before Covid, I had decided it was WAY past time to get to Santa Cruz to demo both Santa Cruz and Ibis bikes with the family. Then Covid shut it all down. And I didn't realize Specialized has a retail/demo store in SC as well! Ha! Oh well. I guess I'm kinda slow... But that was before I added two Ibises to the family collection of bikes, so the need isn't as great as before.
I love all the comments here about comparing it to the Ripmo. I've been on my 2019 Ripmo for four years now, and I'm thinking about getting an additional bike for a home in Idaho. Debating between the Switchblade, another Rimpo (V2S), or the SJ Evo. All are great bikes. I love my Ripmo but wonder if I'd enjoy the Evo even more. Not a crazy rider but love climbing and fun descents...no big drops. I'm a heavier rider at 225 (okay 230), so not sure if one is better than the other?
The S-Works is for lawyers and dentists (who are smary enough to know that pressfit bbs are terrible, so don't buy a Yeti). The Stumpjumper alloy Evo Elite is the one to go for, unless you go frame only and do a sweet custom build.
Would love to hear the pluses and minuses of the EVO to your Ripmo. That seems like a better comparison than the Enduro. The Ripmo is known to be a great climber, can the EVO keep up? Is the EVO’s FSR suspension as plush as DW Link?
I just bought a POC Kortal directly from POC for $140.00 and free shipping, cheaper than ebay, etc. Might buy a 2021 SB 115 T-2 which is the XO version
I would've been interested to hear your comments on this bike with a back-to-back ride (same trail / same conditions) on your ripley af & then this bike. Aside from that, still appreciate your thoughts & comments...& yeah, def' don't drill into your frame! XD LOL
Surprised there was no comparison to the Ripmo. I demoed the Evo last year (2021 version, so same bike) and currently own a Ripmo. The Evo corners like it's on rails, but as a bigger rider I wasn't fond of how it pedaled. The Ripmo pedals MUCH MUCH better, especially on anything techy. I also find the Ripmo is just a little more nimble, though the Evo might be a hair more stable when things get really steep and rowdy, not that I've ever had a problem taking the Ripmo down steep and rowdy stuff.
I test rode the ripmo and Evo back to back. The ripmo climbs smooth trails better but it was less active and I preferred the Evo for seated comfort and traction on my local trails. If I was doing an xc race I'd choose the ripmo, for trail riding the Evo allows me to keep pedaling when things get rough. The ripmo stiffened up too much for me when I pedaled over chunder.
@@hotdealwire xc race you’d use the ripmo?? Ripmo is like all mountain/enduro. Did you have it set up properly? Ripmo is so smooth on rough stuff and is like a hover bike to me over chunk.
@@RH-vp8gr yeah, between the ripmo and Evo I'd choose the ripmo for an xc race - it's faster for pedaling on smooth trails but has less traction when pedaling up rocky, technical trails.
Support local bike shops, not the big corporate Bike shops " the tech guyz see to that"- there are so many in local, mom and pop shops SC that could use the advertising, specilized doesnt need anymore. Give the little dwags a fighting chance. just a thought, great video
i always feel self conscious wearing company brands thats different from my bike. Like I really like a certain Specialized helmet and water bottle, but I got a Trek. Reminds me of kids laughing when I wore addidas socks with Nike shoes.

I love the flow trail! Can't wait until my EVO is built up.
Dear Mo, please tell me how tall you are and I know it was a long time ago, but did size S5 fit you?
Would love to hear the pluses and minuses of the EVO to your Ripmo. That seems like a better comparison than the Enduro. The Ripmo is known to be a great climber, can the EVO keep up? Is the EVO’s FSR suspension as plush as DW Link?
Ripmo is a little more efficient than the stumpy evo on the climbs, but not much!
Awesome trail there..often you guys are on trails that might be a bit above my abilities but that looked was super fun and fast.
It’s an awesome one for sure!!!
Did you ride the newest regular stumpjumper with the flex stays on this visit or are you comparing to the old stumpjumper from a few years ago?
Sorry should have clarified, the old stumpy!
@@moandhannahtravel thanks! Would be interested in a review of the new regular stumpy and how it compares the the v4 Ripley/Ripley af.

What is the stock rear gear ratio
What is different between S2 and S4
It’s their sizing!
Hoping it's dry enough to ride flow trail tomorrow. Awesome evo review.

You missed an opportunity to take the EVO on the UC trails where the gnarly bumps and drops are.
Did you guys hit up Wilder Ranch?
Helooooo Mo.. Scott from Ibis is on Line !
That trial is super fun to ride, I’ve been there a few times but the clime at the end is terrible
looks like a fun trail to ride 👍
Stable as a tractor, playful as a puppy, I loved my enduro but I'm happier with my stumpy.
How would you say the climbing compare between the enduro and the stumpy evo?

I stopped in to the Specialized demo center, unfortunately I didn’t get a warm squishy feeling and decided to bail. 🤨
I woulda bailed too. They look like pompous pricks lol
This might be a NDA violation: How do they compare to Ibis (Ripmo, etc..)?
Also, I've heard Specialized support isn't that good? True or not??
Bro those sunglasses are tubular
But how does it compare to the Ripmo!!!!

We feel you but honestly the equipment is so good it’s worth it! But totally understand!!
when someone enters the video makings puntual explanations, please turn down the music a little…
Sorry! It’s an old video
not downcountry enough, lol
