    Well done, especially Wendy when not feeling well. I won't to go up to Lincoln again and explore a different route back, or just do 50 miles around Lincoln and get train back again.

    You two are an inspiration. I tend to get onto the canals to get away from the built up hustle /bustle of Birmingham.

      We are planning a visit to Birmingham to ride the canals. I did it a couple of years ago and went through that very long tunnel.

    What a lovely route, you seem to manage to find quiet rides but also interesting.
    Top marks to Wendy, sometimes it's a toss up if you'll feel better or worse if you go for a ride. For me 99 times out of 100 it makes me feel better.
    I ride a lot of tracks, some we only do in the summer because of the mud. Not so this year, I've even rode over stream beds as the ground is so dry.
    The stretch of main road that was empty looked very tempting but I guess in the modern world we'll always have to share with cars and lorries. It's not a major problem if drivers give you room. When we cycle I'm 'the tail gunner', riding behind my wife slightly further from the edge in an effort to stop them passing too close. Most drivers here are very good but, some in an effort to overtake before an oncoming car, can cut in. On really busy roads I do my drunken cyclist's impression; this is almost certain to make them give you a very wide berth😄.
    Seeing you avoid those puddles, I wonder have you ever been tempted to fit mudguards?
    I rode without for many years but since fitting them I stay cleaner and the drive train lasts a whole lot longer.
    Thanks for an enjoyable half hour of watching.

    We’ve been to the Kinema in the Woods, saw the Michael Caine film “King of Thieves” there. They played the organ during the interval.
    You can pick up the Water Rail Way from just down the road from Woodhall, at Kirkstead Bridge, though there is a rough off-road section just before Bardney. We rode from Woodhall to Lincoln and back a couple of months ago, along the trail. It’s strange how it spits you out in the busy centre of Lincoln, after miles of traffic free riding.

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      We normally do join the WR at the bridge but I thought a different route might help Wendy focus on something new. That road took us past the turning for the winter route.

    My goodness, you two are certainly ambitious riders with the distances you travel. Wendy, sorry to hear you weren't feeling 100%. I hope you started feeling better once home and rested up.
    You both plan to continue riding thru the winter, weather permitting I guess. I rode my trike thru winter here last year too as long as the temperature was at least 38°F and it was sunny. So far this October I've enjoyed almost perfect riding weather.
    In early September I had to replace my saddle due to the heavy plastic shell on the underside having literally cracked into pieces! I have no idea what caused the damage. The only thing I could think of is the cold of winter riding created cracks which just got worse as I continued to ride into spring. I didn't detect any damage until the foam covering on which I was sitting exhibited a tear from the front to the back of the seat. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen again this winter. 🤞
    Enjoy the autumn weather. Winter is right around the corner. 🌬❄️🌨

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Linda, we will get out as much as possible, but not when it’s icy. We enjoy the long rides but the short winter days will equal shorter rides, so we’ll add some hills in. I do find that saddles do fail at the plastic underside. They usually start by creaking, although easily mistaken for joints 😀

    • @LLewis-vu9qf
      @LLewis-vu9qf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RideWithRoy -- I never expected the saddle to last forever, of course, but I did think it would last longer than 10 months. 🥴

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that’s not at all acceptable. I would expect at least two years of regular use. Our consumer laws would allow us to ask for a replacement, is that possible in the US?

    gosh! that's impressive both of you. so I suppose that took no longer really, than your Audax Roy.

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did take longer, for two reasons. Wendy and I can’t resist stopping to smell the roses. The Audax was more of a mission and I was with some fast riders, so had to work to keep up. I’ve just about finished the edit of that one so should be out next week, whereas a great example of a smelling the roses ride will be published this evening 🙂

    • @jiji1946
      @jiji1946 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RideWithRoy I see.... actually, I don't know how long you took for the Audax (though will find out soon it seems), just what the cut-off time was.
      in addition.... roses hardly ever have a perfume these days. still wonderful to look at though.
      you must be getting pretty rapid at the Da Vinci these days..... I'm as slow as ever on Final Cut, and so mostly stick to imovie. even that is pretty versatile.

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @jiji1946 it was nearly 9 hours in the rose garden and 7 hours for the Audax. Also, there was three times more climbing on the Audax. I much prefer the roses 😀

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @jiji1946 I now have the speed editor console and the Studio version of Resolve, which makes a huge difference time wise. It incorporates some excellent AI tools that allow me to improve some clips that may be unusable otherwise. One example you’ll see on this evening’s offering is the sound of Wendy rustling food wrappers inside a church. A quick application of AI and it removed the crackling and left her voice. This will save me having to employ an assistant to shout ‘Quiet on set 📣’ It would be really easy to edit together a bunch of clips of us riding but I do like to give a bit more. The reviews are usually the hardest to put together as they take time to test and then I need to be accurate in what I say. As I’ve been filming much more this year I have quite a few in the ‘can’ as the pros say. Now we have a spell of wet weather I am slowly catching up. It’s also a case of feeling motivated enough to do a good job as well. It won’t be too long before AI can produce the whole thing for me 😳

      AI eh? in the not too distant future, perhaps it'll be able to do your rides for you, when the weather's horrible and you'd rather sit by the fire....
