Thank you for reviewing different matcha brands! Highly appreciated it so much since I'm looking for ones that could have a sweet/creamy/chocolate-y notes with.😊❤

I’ve been enjoying the horai for daily consumption. Ummon is definitely richer, sweeter, and far less astringent. My partner and I save it for the weekends as a treat. We have shoin ordered as well to see how they all compare to one another.

I drink ippodo almost exclusively and my daily at the moment is their Horai. I also love their Sayaka. I agree they are a bit $$ for a daily but you only live once and screw my kids they can make their own money. My question is, and I’m no connoisseur, why do,you drink daily? I also think it is good to know….i 99.9% don’t do lattes, only traditional for me. Your recommendation would be great.

Wouldn't the metal container change the taste of matcha if you take it out of the bag container? Since metal can oxidize matcha, it could affect the taste

Can’t you only store it for a month after opening?

Just brewed my very first cup of matcha tea, and i get a very fishy smell and bitter taste. I have no prior experience to compare it to but i assume it isn't supposed to smell / taste like this. Jade Leaf individually packaged servings from a local supermarket.

Fishy? Not supposed to smell or taste fishy

@Toya650 Yeah, I confirmed that it's not supposed to smell that way. It had been denatured. I returned it to the supermarket for a refund.

As far as high quality matcha is concerned, Japan is the place to get it from as the making of matcha has been perfected over there for centuries. And 300+ years old Ippodo Tea is regarded as one of the best Japanese matcha makers.

I just bought this and I couldn’t get it to foam as well as yours looks:/ I used a bamboo whisk as well. Could you maybe share your whisk technique or exactly how much liquid and sweetener you add at this step? 🫶🏽

@reeceandrew7312 you can get this at the Japan House in kensington high street, do not buy anything else from the store, it is way too expensive.
