You are the main person who inspired me to start locs! unfortunately I am far away from your salon so i’ve been doing information for more than a month planning and watching video by video. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU I APPRECIATE YOU OH SO MUCH❤️
So glad that I found your channel. I've been wanting to loc my hair FOREVER. YOU are amazing . I'm a new subscriber and have been binge watching all your videos. U are very informative. My hair is dense and kind of thin however ....I'm getting locs thus coming SATURDAY❤
I just started my loc journey...got 4 weeks until my first retwist, this video is helping me understand what the next phase is. Thanks for this vid! You just gained a new sub btw.
Beautiful job you did with her retwist. I am new to this locing my hair, only 16 days in, and my hair looks a mess. It's okay. I found another loctition that will fix my hair. My two-strand twists lasted longer than 16 days when I did my hair 😂😂. It's okay; it's just hair that can be fixed. But I love all your professional videos. Thanks for sharing them as I start this new journey. ❤
Loving the video, would like to know how she takes care of her before and after her salon visits, I'm new at this loc journey, it's only been 3 months, just had my 3rd retwist, need help taking care of my locs, do's and don't please help...
Do you have a video on what type or which product is good to use to start locs on longer hair? I know you said nothing heavy, do you have any recommendations?
Love this video! I'm 7 months loc'd and now loving them! It took me a while. My budding started within a month. Several of my friends/coworkers were shocked at how fast the budding happened! My question is, I'm looking to color my locs. Can you tell me what color she has in her hair? It's beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful video!
She hasn’t replied but that looks like a learn brown could be done by adding a bit of boxed bleach or dye I would say dark and lovely is a great brand to use or try out
New to your channel and I love it already. I have a question for you. My hair is already long almost two years long I've been getting box braids mostly and two strand twist. I was wondering which method would be best for me to start locs. I want them thick not thin and I also want them to be semi freeform which means I want manipulation but I don't want the scalp to be super visible. Any idea what to do or say to the stylist?
I think showing pics of what u want is best so they can get an idea! As far as the scalp thing, you’ll have to go months in between ur retwists if u want freeform. Because freeform literally means leaving the locs alone and letting them do their thing. I’m assuming you’ll want them to just maintenance the ends, not the root, so tell them that (although i think you can do that at home)
@@CourtneyGrayton Hi. I just found your channel and hoping to get some help from you. I am 3 days locked. (My 2nd loc journey) this time, I added afro kinky human hair directly to my hair and locked. (Not like adding extensions from someone else's hair...). I was wondering; *will it still go through normal loc stages like every other method (Budding...)? * How often do I need to wash and oil? * How soon should I get my first retwist? I really want to do things right this time and enjoy the whole process. Please help. Any and every advice and tips will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
they looks amazing 🤩 really beautiful what the difference between coils an the twist is there a difference can someone please explain because i want locs but dnt no which one to start with
I just got my coil starter locs 2 days ago and my loctician emphasized to me to not put water on my hair at all for 3 months just oil sheen and that she wouldn’t be washing my hair anymore until the 3 month mark so I’m curious about why that is since I see you washing her hair at the 4 week point.
i’m curious…did you wash you hair prior to that recommendation? I just combed out coils i had for 5 months and washed within first 3-4weeks/got a retwist and everything was fine. it doesn’t sound normal to go 3 whole months without washing you hair/scalp 🤔
I have 4c tightly coily hair and im considering locs..i mostly do two-strand twist on my hair and the shrinking is so disrespectful(lol)but im just scared if i start that journey that i won't like them and regret it...
Thanks for sharing the process. 💕 Are you left handed by any chance? I am left handed and have twisted my locs to the left. For now I’m maintaining my locs myself. But I’m wondering if Locticians are flexible and ok to twist both ways (with ease). Or would the standard be to the right direction? Thanks😊
It’s my pleasure! I’m left-handed. When I first started retwisting with a comb my inclination was to twist to the left but I had to keep reminding myself to go the right in case the client goes to another loctician after, because that is the standard in this right-handed world! Lol if a client comes to me and says they’ve always twisted to the left, I am able to go to the left also to keep it consistent.
I always wondered this too because in all the loc videos I’ve seen they twist to the right. I’m right handed but have always twisted to the left when I wear coils, two stands etc. I started my loc journey again a over a month ago and had been debating if I should go ahead and start twisting to the right since I’m so early in my journey. Now I see it’s fine to stick with twisting to the left.
Hi I have a question I'm just starting my journey, but my hair isn't long I'm 2 months in my question is when u have the coils in your hair is it better to put a bonnet on my hair?or do I tie my hair down? Seems like when I tie it down it flattens my coils so is it bonnet?or tie it down?
Is it possible to comb twist after combining locs using the interloc and palm roll method? (Nit keen on palm roll look) I want my locs to mature with comb coil method.
I’ll have my locs in for a week tomorrow, and I got coils and a c shape like her! I’m curious in your professional opinion what products should be used for a retwist? Because the stylist that started my hair, used beeswax, another product and sprayed gots 2 b glue spray on my hair, and I didn’t feel like she was using the right products, but she was already half way through my head when I noticed the products.
I have had my locs for a few days(i started them myself), and I definitely feel like the stylist used the wrong products on your hair. I know you wanted a loctitians perspective, but I would think that from what i know about products like that, is that they cause buildup and seem to be heavy, in my opinion. From how it sounds, they used products to make the hairstyle last/stay longer, which is fine, but they used THE WRONG products. I would suggest finding someone who is knowledgeable about locs and isn't just starting your locs because your paying them. If your gonna give them YOUR money, they need to be done right because its your crown. Happy one week locaversary love!
@@nyny9598 Yes, I found another loctician and imma schedule an consultation with her! And I was originally gonna go to her, but couldn’t find her name at the time. And I’m wondering if I need to start over completely? Or if I can just keep my current locs and once my hair is 18 month to 2 years loc’d get a detox on my hair and hopefully that will get out all the heavy products that was used during the original process.

If you’re used to the shrinkage, you’ll be okay. As they mature, they’ll get heavier and you will see more of your actual length.
Just checking to see if you are back making your hair products

When you re twist why you don’t twist all the way down to end of hair. To give it a more cleaner and smooth look.
She wants to keep the curly ends, so I leave them alone
Where is your shop located? I wish you were in the Tampa area
District Heights, Maryland
About how long did it take to do the initial coils and the retwist? I am so impatient when it comes to my hair but i really want to do this.
can we put sea salt water into finger coils to make them loc faster? or will that mess them up
I would never recommend that. It is very drying! Let your hair loc naturally, even if it takes longer, and you will thank yourself later 🙏🏾
This was so therapeutic to watch lol
See I wish someone retwist my hair just like this. Because it turns out way better for my hair type. What’s this method called? Just palm rolling?
And Is it better to do the retwist with wet hair?

I put a scarf and a bonnet, but when you take it off just shake your hair and put water on it if you want it should be fine

@@CourtneyGrayton Thank you so much! And okay! 💙
What shampoo and conditioner would you recommend? To clarify and moisturize.
what determines how fast the budding begins?
There are a variety of factors including hair texture, the health of your hair, the technique for maintenance, etc
what is used in the water based solution for locs. my son has started his first 30 days.
Rose water is a popular option!
Did she sit under the dryer? Nice job
Yes! 30 mins
Awesome 👏🏼
Are you using gel? Is that all I need to start my locs?
Can they be taken out or would they have to be cut if you don't want them anymore
After getting starter locs how often should I spray water & oil the hair? Within the first month every week or every other day?
I’d start with every other day and just pay attention to how your hair feels. You may need to go down to just 2x a week
Thank you very much

It’s relaunching this fall
I just started my locs on 7/26. So first wash and retwist happens at 4 weeks? Perfect cos my scalp been itching lol

Do you twist the hair in the same direction every time you wash and retwist the hair or not?
Yes! To the right

I wish you could start my log journey where are you located

Can you interlock comb coils?
What hair product you use in your hair for those weeks
How long you leave under dryer and on what temp?
so this is a different type of locs...
dreads, coil, Lilian okieh, freeform, semi freeform.two strand twise....
This is coils
Can I change my square parts into c parts
Hey! there are several determining factors on whether this is possible. I’ll try to answer it in an upcoming video!
What would you say her loc count is roughly?
91 exactly
Are you saying use water on a regular or while getting the retwist
Both!
Great, where are you and how much do you charge
District Heights, MD & check here: www.vagaro.com/hairgoalswithcg
So this is 4 weeks of starting her Loc journey?
Yes
Can you still wash your hair regularly when you first started
No, you should wait until you're getting a retwist! 4 weeks
What parts are those ?
what product are you using?😩
amzn.to/3cQoAmp
Why not band it or braid it before washing? That’s what my loctician does for me. Then you don’t have to rip apart as much
I do that on some clients. That has nothing to do with the roots marrying, though.
@@CourtneyGrayton oh ok. Is it from unraveling then?
