My first set was coils I wanted two strand twist but she said my hair would stay twisted which was a lie and as they grow out I did not like them, they were to thin for my liking, so I started a new set back in Nov and I have two strand twist did them myself and I love them nice and thick

I got small starter coils yesterday 3/23/24.
I just like the natural ropey shape they have in the long run, no braid patterns.
I believe in keeping things simple 😂.

I started with two strand twists and secured with an interlock. The so called “ugly phase” I consider transitional and the fuzz and frizz is my favourite part. My loctitian asked if I wanted her to use the needle to clean the loose frizzy hair and I was like NO! Lol … it’s what I love most ❤️

    • @getrealhood

@@getrealhood I’m only five months in and I’ve only had one re-tie. My next one will be on the 25th of this month but so far so good. I prefer interlock because I’m menopausal and it’s more secure when I sweat. Plus I’m in this for life cause I just can’t be bothered with hair and I need a fast solution 😃

Same. I have very fine "4a" hair, even though it's thick, so I needed smaller locs and love the frizz. I'm 6 months in now and the two stranded look is disappearing. The frizz makes my hair look super thick and I love it. I don't feel like it's an ugly phase. For once I actually love my hair and what it's doing 🤣

This was a very helpful video. I just started my own locs with two-strand twists and that nape and edges part is spot on with my hair laughing out loud. I’m excited for my journey and you’ll be one of my new tutors 🖤🤣

This was so helpful, thank you. I've been natural all my life but I did the "big chop" for the first time ever a couple of months ago. Between stress and postpartum shedding I know I'm not ready to loc just yet but once it grows a few inches I plan to start with either twists or sisterlocs.

This was very helpful. Do you have any tips on starting locs with low density hair? Are there certain parts that can give a fuller look or maintenance tasks to retain volume?

Maybe it's just the nature of a daunting commitment, but I think Courtney is very personable and having her explain the process is comforting. Makes me feel more confident in a good outcome.
    I'd hug you if I could 😂

Thank you for this very comprehensive video. I'm 4C very coily and in love and braid/twist/faux loc my hair monthly (sometimes a wig break), but ready for long term break.
My hair is 10-12 inches and length regarding the twists vs coils wasn't something I considered and the size expansion was good to know. Looking on this journey next year after I grow out my undercut.

Great video.. This is my 3rd set. This time i did the coil. The first 2 sets was 2 strand twist.. I’m
digging the coil method.. I get less frizz than 2 strand twist

Hi! I discovered your video as I was trying to make sense of why my locs unravel. I have 4C hair and my locs(almost 2 months old) unravel at the temple or at the nape. Everything makes sense! Thank you!🌟

I’m only 1:29 seconds in and I already know I need to sub. I always wanted to know if the outcome between the two would give the same results eventually which you answered so I know the rest will be informative and what I need on my journey that will start in a few days.
