I want to use this technique but drawing a mask with a round shape over straight edges is proving to be very difficult. I saw the import shape button but where can I get the shapes I want from? Thanks for the great content. When I start to use the brush to paint the parts of the lettering that I want to appear as being behind the image, those areas become black (the brush colour). In the tutorial, it works like an eraser as makes the image visible. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
Hey Nick. Happy to hear you're enjoying the tutorials! When painting, make sure you have the mask layer selected. Painting on any other layer will use the color of your brush instead.

You can definitely do that! Choose Tools > Select > Free Selection, make your selection, then press Backspace on your keyboard to clear the selection.
