Likewise with Apple Vision Pro, I think in the next 10 years this will become a part of our daily lives and of course with a simpler form but many functions.
The difference is that the first cell phone didn't really have any alternatives. Calling people from your own phone regardless of where you were was just something that could not be done before that. Back in 2007:Nokia CEO said about iPhone "It is quite an interesting product but it is lacking a few essential features, such as 3G, which would enable fast data connections," We might look at 5-10 years later where this goggle could be as small as a rayban.
I thought people were dumb for buying $3000 MacBook pros with core 2 quads 10 years ago but hey they did it all the time.
There's a new sucker born everyday and apple knows this.
I can’t imagine wearing this in the summer time
Okay, I absolutely loved that you kept it on for that long. Made this review so unique. The recipe and timers was cool. Still can't believe you skied with them on. Insightful review.
Except this existed since forever
Yeah. I would bet that hob had timers too. Timers exist forever. So buy 3.5K set so you can see virtual timer next to hob with timer is as dumb as it sounds.
@@Cap_management guess it's a good thing it does a lot more than that.
$$ its called paid advertising.
Super entertaining and informative video! Thanks!
I love how mysterious the Vision Pro is despite us having VR for the past 10 years lol😂
You know how they always overhype something that's been out forever.
@@picxlproductions i must to agree, vision pro is overhyped. I will stick with my meta quest 2
We may have had VR for the last 10 years but apple invented it just now! So that's what counts. (Edited: grammar)
This is more functional VR to add productivity. Meta is essentially just an entertainment consol.
@@socalrefrigeration548 i probably must to try how that productivity in xr works, but i just dont see it now, so you work with your laptop, you have few screens floating around you faking real world monitors... How this productivity actually works?
the best part: cooking computer... multiple timers for boil and saute... i love it...!!! and a ski goggle?? wow... never even thought about it... nice video!!
Just don't let moisture get up into the headset. The fans on the bottom of the lens intake air and exhaust through the top. Sucking in steam will definitely lead to hardware malfunction and possibly fry it.
We have to wait. Looks like my very first HTC Vive. I will NOT be a Tester any longer. 😴 good dreams.
kudos to apple for making bold tech if will click or not, honestly i hope this will be tech of the future
that's literally just a pimped out quest 3
the only bold thing about this is the price tag
@@alexmikhylovalso a bold thing is power bank for a battery... What apple think? Its looks like 2011 again
I have never actually watched one of your videos. But this is one of the best tech reviews I have seen in terms of humour but also fair and genuine. Will definitely subscribe for more!!
she got real humor 😅 luv it ❤
Thanks Joanna for the fun review =) High quality as always! Still wondering its practical uses lol
Video games and movies give us a clue as to what AR might be on a daily basis.
@@brodriguez11000You mean Ready Player One? Yeah, good luck with that.
I've watched every review or early content so far and this is by far the best, most balanced and tons of humour I wasn't' expecting
Would you give up your iPad for Vision Pro?
for a first gen device this is fantastic. its not as polished as apple wants it to be, but its good enough to ship it. im pretty sure in just 2-3 years this will be more than great. cant wait.
“Good enough “ for 3500$ ?!? Sorry Apple that’s not going to cut it..😢
@@sheedsmallss9721 would never consider buying it right now myself, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist for those who would
This is the best review I've seen yet.
Joanna, you’re just my favorite!
The best ski goggles ever
OK this was a different kind of review and i like it. Its a fun honest review!
2014 VR looks like potato. 2024 Real life looks like potato. 2034 I am potato.
My favorite no nonsense review of the Vision Pro I’ve seen yet.
It will probably be a couple of years before these become practical to justify the expense.
its a first gen so it isn't the best naturally, but if they stick with this concept I'm really looking forward to how this'll be improved in the next couple of years
this honestly just feels like an actual AR headset. Not necessarily VR or anything, just AR.
The passthrough can be turned off to go into full VR I believe
@mr.grumps3544 yeah, but it doesn't really have any reason to use full VR other than just a space. It's really AR with VR as an afterthought.
The dog's reaction at the end 😂
Someone skiing while wearing 3'500$ AR glasses has to be the most "rich-kid" thing I've ever seen.
Agreed, Skiing is fun tho!
4:38 that’s really good feature 😂
This was such a fun and comedic take. Loved it!
Is it possibble to use pro vision like simple computer for text documents without connecting to monitor
Favorite early review, much more tangible than any tech TH-camr vid. And really entertaining. Thank you.
Reminds me of when I wash my dishes whilst using my Quest 3 welcome apple users to the things we have been experiencing in the Quest 3 for months now
So how’s the quality watching Disney plus movies? Is it as good as watching it on the smartphone? Is it 4k resolution in the Vision Pro?
Dunno don't watch them
beginning of the end
You know! At first when the first cell phone was there it was very big, heavy and of course if you think about it there were many drawbacks, but over time it got better.
Meanwhile most any task that could be done on Vision Pro can also be done on a computer, cell phone, or TV. Which tasks are best done on Vision Pro? So far, mainly movies / video it seems, but only if you're solo.

This was a really well done tech review. Thank you! :)
2:05 " the real game changer for getting work done, add in a mac" 🤣
Great review. Feel like I actually got an impression of what it would feel like to use it instead of someone yelling random tech stats and marketing terms around
"But is that worth $3500? That's for you and your bank account to figure out." I don't care if my bank account is in debt I will find a way to buy it
The persona feature was spot on for you actually. It looked exactly like you
Lol that's evil!
Are you serious?
People expectations just got higher... When the first iPhone came out, everyone was more excited about it
The first iPhone was frankly a better product. As Steve said on the Keynote it was an iPod, a Phone and a Internet communications device. This is yet another AR / VR thing.
@@floppa9415 Yeah I guess the difference with the iPhone and this is that phones seemed to be really widely used before the iPhone came out; AR/VR still doesn't seem like that regular of a thing yet/that widely adopted
@@freyncis3161AR glasses are the goal, smartphones are hitting their limits. The only way a phone gets better is when it's connected to light weight AR glasses that produce resizable displays and stereoscopic 3D apps. This device is more like a wearable MacBook, so it wouldn't be as appealing to the every day user, where glasses will be.
Maybe because vr exist for many years now and what apple did is nothing groundbreaking or anything... Actually in some areas behind competitors
If this technology could be packed into glasses it would be way more appealing prob.
YOUR PERSONA LOOK SO MUCH LIKE Mona Lisa! LOVE THE REVIEW
8:23 Best part. How the dog looks back 🥹
the dog was probably thinking “whats the hecks wrong with this lady today”
This is the best content I have seen on WSJ over the last decade
This is going to be something that in 30 years, everyone's going to look back on and thinks it is utterly ridiculous.
They said the same about smartphones
It is ridiculous now
@@britishfireworksno they didn't
@@ifshy yes they did every innovation in tech has people saying this same thing people use to call smartphones fancy calculators and novelty’s but now most people use one this headset isn’t meant to change the world it’s meant to be an introduction for apple into the vr space yeah no one is gonna be wearing this headset in there day to day life but it’s allowing development of apps and such for greater products in the future I mean look at the first iPod compared to phones now these headsets are just going to get smaller and more powerful as time goes on with invocations in micro screens and lenses
@britishfireworks using VR for gaming and entertainment sure is good. But for work? Lol there's literally nothing you can do on that thing that you can't do on a computer much more conveniently
Joanna Stern is awesome and I love her videos. This is by far the best review I’ve seen without the philosophical rhetoric some other prognosticators seems to think we need to be lectured on. I feel she speaks to me and not at me.
Thank you for putting yourself out there and reviewing this for us. Honestly I thought your persona looked just fine.
