Didn't work when I tried to remove the upper rectangle layer 2:30 and repeated the steps several times. What am I missing or do you have an updated tutorial?
I took this idea and used it in Photoshop. Afterwards i did it in Pixelmator. Actually, it was much, much easier and far more intuitive in Photoshop. But if you don't have Photoshop because it is much more expensive, this tutorial will get you there as well.
@@GrimAsEverA7x Here is what I tried. I think the blue box was not "selection" mode, it needs to be the dotted border. I used the "rectangle selection" option on the right side tool bar, then picked "new", and just drew a same sized rectangle "dotted line" selection over the shape i want to pick, it kinda auto snaps to the shape border. then do the invert selection and everything else worked fine.

make sure to command click the upper rectangle layer before invert selection.
I'm having the same issue. Even when I command click, it does not make the selection.
I just looked at this app today. I am going to buy it. This video convinced me.

Thats something we've actually explored - we weren't satisfied with the quality of the tool, but we might come back to it in the future. 👌

It's difficult to say... Do you make sure to hide or remove the top rectangle layer after you create a mask for the bottom one?

You have to CMD-Click on the small white square thumbnail. If you try to CMD-Click on the text that says "Rectangle", it won't work properly.
