Gold and Silver chao are in the Dreamcast SA2 version as well, you obtain them by trading over SA1's chao to SA2 using the memory card system, it sadly doesn't last forever though because if you even leave the Chao Garden in SA2 for a bit, the jewel chao obtain their normal two-tone apperence again, but it still exists...

Idek if you still check comments anymore but if you do I could use some clarifications: I got pure Lime Green Chao mate with pure blue chao. Baby is Lime green with hidden blue(I'll call them Lime Green 2). But then Lime Green 2 later mated with White (hidden sky blue). This new baby is also lime green (so Lime Green 3). if I'm understanding this correctly, then Lime Green 3's hidden allele could be white OR sky blue??? Edit/P.S. how do you have so much room to do these videos??? I guess if you're playing on the gamecube and lots of memory cards then I too, had countless chao lol. (unfortunately I'm on the ps3 version atm so...gotta control the amount of chao i got >.
Kaida W That's true. Lime Green 3 would have the White or sky blue Colour as a hidden Allele. One colour allele must come from both parents, and the chao can only store 2 colour alleles at once. Lime green colour phenotype comes from Lime green 2, lime green 3 could take either white or blue as the hidden from the white chao. Have fun breeding! :)
The fact that you can't buy normal color Chao is why I never get rid of any of mine, even if they have awful ability grades. I sink into raising these Chao's weakest grades, then breed them for more, stronger normal color Chao. Though it really sucks having to start from an E grade, especially if it's the stamina stat.

17:00 The reason this may happen, is because some color (or most color) is given off of the other Chao, giving it that strange color. I have no idea, but that's what i think. This was posted in 2015, so i may be wrong.

I'm incredibly proud of what you represent from the Sonic Adventure 2 community. Back in the day ('07, '08), I never would've guessed we would know so much. Really incredible.
My grandfather and my oldest sister both raise and breed golden retrievers. There was an instance where one of my grandfathers female golden retrievers went over and bred with a labrador retriever next door. Every single one of the puppies was black as golden retrievers have a black skin/fur gene that is only brought out when bred with a lab. He kept one of the black puppies (half lab/half retriever) and sold the rest. When it was old enough, he bred the black dog to one of his retrievers to get a 75% retriever/ 25% lab litter of puppies, which resulted in about half of the litter being tan and the other half black. He repeated the process one more time for and 87.5% retriever/12.5% lab litter. All of the puppies looked pretty much exactly like golden retrievers at this point, except for the one that had black fur. They looked like retrievers in every way except for color. So my grandfather called them "black golds" and it is one of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen.

Chao Island have a Chao Gallery for all chao colours and types. I believe this should also cover Bright Chao. You can also use Chao Viewer on Chao Island too
+Lasimo Afiro You can somewhat fix the trees (steamcommunity.com/app/213610/discussions/0/523898291508185212/) and personally I'm going to use the Chao Editor to get invisible Chao but it just sucks that the editor doesn't provide all colors and you can't make them shiny transparent. First off I'd like to thank you for putting in so much time and effort into your videos! Second how do you get so much information from a chao? I'd like to see it's genes the way you described them in this video so I can breed them appropriately instead of guessing. I would also like to know if you speed the process up using any cheats or hacks, I simply don't have the time I used to have when I was younger.
These videos should be able to help me make some good chao! I got a good breed from my 2 starter chao, an EAABB which I made the run stat an S rank. I want to make some good chao, but I also like caring for them as well. I done chao garden lots, but never got much done. I assume toys like rocking horses are from Jewel/ challenge races. Also, in case you don't know, it is "pear-e-dot"
+Mscookieman145 You would only get a Ruby or Sapphire Chao from that combination. Just as two monotone colour chao can't mix their colours, neither does the Jewel texture.
okay so a side note on why the transparent chao look the way they do on the GC version of the game: its a texture error. the shiny layer renders on top of the gem layer. but due to a glitch the supposed to be opaque layer underneath turns invisible. further advice: this graphical glitch does not impact performance.
Is that super shadow chao at 14:37 on the rocking horse a gold jewel chao or a different color? I'm trying to figure out what color it is because I want to make one just like it.
So I have this shiny red chao I got from breeding my shiny yellow with my mono red. I tried breeding that chao with a gold chao and for some reason the offspring will come out as a full gold chao half the time. Is it because one of the shiny red's parents was mono red?
+Rookiewarrior64 I think it appeared as gold half the time because the parent mono red was Non-Shiny, the genotype of your Shiny Red would likely have Shiny/Non-Shiny, therefore whenever the Non-Shiny was passed down, the child would appear Gold instead of a Shiny Jewel
So does that mean that if I breed two shiny chao with the genotype of Shiny/Non-Shiny the offspring could end up as a Non-Shiny mono chao? I swear it's the complicated breeding mechanics that makes chao breeding so addicting.
Yup! You would have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a Non-Shiny Chao, as a result from two parents of the Shiny/Non-Shiny genotype. Chao breeding mechanics are awesome ^_^

yes you would get either a shiny red monotone or a shiny red two-tone. You might also see more shiny monotone normals if the red twotone was bred from a normal twotone.
Okay, I was wondering about the two tone gene in chaos. I was using the square genetics to predict my chao's offspring and I came across something confusing. what would a chao look like with these genes? two tone/two tone red/normal no shine/no shine no texture /no texture Because I know red monotone/monotone is solid red and red two tone/monotone is red and dark red. I saw the normal had two twotone genes and I was wondering what a colored chao would look like with those gens.
Any Chao who has a twotone/monotone genotype will either show through the twotone *or* monotone gene. Towotone and monotone genes are equally dominant, so it's going to be a 50% chance of the twotone being chosen, or a 50% chance of the monotone gene showing up instead. a twotone/twotone with a red gene will always appear as a red and dark red coloured chao, If you come across a twotone/twotone normal coloured Chao, this will be your default looking Chao you get from the beginning of the game. To answer your question with your provided genotype, you will get a Red coloured chao (as Red dominates Normal), who is not shiny or jeweled, and has a 50/50 chance of being born as a twotone (red and dark red) or a monotone (solid red colour).
8:01 explanation why it was a white monotone: Well its the normal but since the normal doesn't have a monotone or didn't expect people to get one its a white monotone.
I think the Monotone Normal type looks different between Gamecube and Xbox 360. I've never hatched one on the Gamecube, but on 360 I have, and I recall them being blue when neutral and changing color when given alliance.
If you still make videos it would be cool to see a release of this for the steam version since that seems to be the new most popular way to play the game

okay so a side note on why the transparent chao look the way they do on the GC version of the game: its a texture error. the shiny layer renders on top of the gem layer. but due to a glitch the supposed to be opaque layer underneath turns invisible. further advice: this graphical glitch does not impact performance.

I got the pc version a couple years back and bright chao are also on that as well.. but chao world extended offers a fix for that.

So I have this shiny red chao I got from breeding my shiny yellow with my mono red. I tried breeding that chao with a gold chao and for some reason the offspring will come out as a full gold chao half the time. Is it because one of the shiny red's parents was mono red?

I think it appeared as gold half the time because the parent mono red was Non-Shiny, the genotype of your Shiny Red would likely have Shiny/Non-Shiny, therefore whenever the Non-Shiny was passed down, the child would appear Gold instead of a Shiny Jewel
So does that mean that if I breed two shiny chao with the genotype of Shiny/Non-Shiny the offspring could end up as a Non-Shiny mono chao? I swear it's the complicated breeding mechanics that makes chao breeding so addicting.
Yup! You would have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a Non-Shiny Chao, as a result from two parents of the Shiny/Non-Shiny genotype.

yes you would get either a shiny red monotone or a shiny red two-tone. You might also see more shiny monotone normals if the red twotone was bred from a normal twotone.
Okay, I was wondering about the two tone gene in chaos. I was using the square genetics to predict my chao's offspring and I came across something confusing. what would a chao look like with these genes?
two tone/two tone
red/normal
no shine/no shine
no texture /no texture
Because I know red monotone/monotone is solid red and red two tone/monotone is red and dark red. I saw the normal had two twotone genes and I was wondering what a colored chao would look like with those gens.
Any Chao who has a twotone/monotone genotype will either show through the twotone *or* monotone gene. Towotone and monotone genes are equally dominant, so it's going to be a 50% chance of the twotone being chosen, or a 50% chance of the monotone gene showing up instead.
a twotone/twotone with a red gene will always appear as a red and dark red coloured chao, If you come across a twotone/twotone normal coloured Chao, this will be your default looking Chao you get from the beginning of the game.
To answer your question with your provided genotype, you will get a Red coloured chao (as Red dominates Normal), who is not shiny or jeweled, and has a 50/50 chance of being born as a twotone (red and dark red) or a monotone (solid red colour).

8:01 explanation why it was a white monotone: Well its the normal but since the normal doesn't have a monotone or didn't expect people to get one its a white monotone.
I think the Monotone Normal type looks different between Gamecube and Xbox 360. I've never hatched one on the Gamecube, but on 360 I have, and I recall them being blue when neutral and changing color when given alliance.
If you still make videos it would be cool to see a release of this for the steam version since that seems to be the new most popular way to play the game
Most of the genetics system still applies for the Steam version (well, unmodded anyway).
