Notice the sound of the other phone hanging up and the change in voice, and how the person suddenly asks what's on your screen when you've already said it. At 14:50 you can hear them both, before he switches you back to the first guy.

Each terminal usually have 2-3 numbers registered, it's not a switch board, so it will always be the same person picking up when you call that number. They are generally hungry enough to not cut off your number when you prank them like that, just on the off chance that it was a technical glitch and they can still sucker you in. They rather stay patient and take the abuse for those juicy $99.
Here's a thought: delete all the tools they normally use from your pc beforehand, like tree, syskey, netstat, eventvwr, etc... let him try to perform his routine then

Can't wait to use some of your techniques on the next scammer that calls me. I really like when you add commentary via text on screen (explaining what they're doing/what you're doing). I noticed in most those videos you tell them you use windows defender. You should try making a video with a beefy REAL antivirus and firewall running on the VM, and watch them weasel their way around trying to explain to you that it's still not "clean", hahahaha

It is possible to get through the hypervisor but more likely they might try getting through to your network if you're sharing anything or don't know you have network drives attached and such. Be careful.
dude i just installed a virtual box and scam baited the same number on a guy that claimed to be Steve... he went STRAIGHT for syskey... i then told him i was each and everything and he knew him.... i told him he got scam baited again XD
What you should really do when they syskey is to stay on the line, don't say anything about it, let them do their thing and when they hit restart, you shut down the VM instead, take it back to a snapshot before the syskey and start it up again, just staying on the line while they try their "Oh no" speech and bring back TeamViewer (or whichever that particular scammer uses) to show them, just to see how they react.
What scares me is if the operators of these operations actually knew their shit, I am sure they could con 90% of the population, I would love to know the actual number who get scammed each year...
