Never, never deal with anyone over the phone. Never tell them your address and ask them to send you a letter instead saying you don’t deal with these matters over the phone. Hang up.
Not even a letter. All official bodies and government agencies can be contacted. Just ask who it is and then say you will be in touch with their agency. If they try to tell you that you have to use a 'special' address/phone number/email/website then they are lying.
That was really entertaining you did well to keep him talking so long. Being Welsh I answer them in Welsh the disadvantage is they dont last very long on the phone
Welsh is the language of the devil. Kinda sounds like you're chanting for the devil himself to rise up. Nah I love Wales. My Grandfather was raised just south of Harlech before he was ordered out of the country by a judge. He cycled all the way to Birmingham.

I would make a friendly debate that the only one I know is meaner is the one where a loved one is in jail or hospital and they need money to treat them.
I got the exact call 2 days ago , I'm 18 and have a 1 year old son and work part time and receive benefits , I was so scared I really tought they would send a police to my house I just started crying and told the guy I couldn't pay he litrally threatened me that he would send the police to my house I gave the phone to my dad and he knew it was a scam so relieved now but won't be picking up any unknown number ever
OMG, can you imagine the HMRC talking to a citizen in that way? Brilliant video bro, well done. I get lots of automated calls from India on my landline, who say that my internet is about to be disconnected due to my ‘illegal activities’. Or my Amazon account is about to be billed by £80 (i don’t use Amazon). I always ring them by pressing on the keypad and have a laugh over them. Usually this culminated in my swearing at them, but only after having wasted a load of their time. It’s fun.
Getting more of these types of calls, they are farcical. What a load of rubbish this scammer is spouting. Who would believe this, good on you for stringing him along.
Fair play to you for keeping Mr Smith talking! I had one of those calls last month, let the bloke on the end of the line spout all his usual bilge, then right at the crucial moment told him I actually work for HMRC myself and if he doesn't stop this right now, he'll be the one who gets arrested. The phone went down pretty quick ... I don't work for them and never have, but they don't know that! 😂😂
Good video, I was called yesterday about my board band and people steeling my IP address!! lol I kept them going for about 15 minutes until they swore and hung up. Great video and I hope anyone with elderly relatives/friends talk to them about these increasing scams. Thanks.
I hacked these pratts after I caught an identical call. So I phoned them back. They asked for my personal details, and I said I was next door to them and gave their address. I asked if it would it be ok to pop into their office. I hadn't quite finished the sentence before they hung up. BUSTED
I had similar one years back. This is just a variation on a theme. They caught the guys 2 young Bangladeshis guys living with their mother in Kings Cross.

I have now had 3 of these scam calls now. For anyone who is vulnerable out there it is extremely frightening. These scammers are the scum of the earth.
One of them tried it with me once, they obviously know nothing about how UK tax or the HMRC works or anything about PAYE. I told him he needs to change his script from the one he uses to scam Americans because our tax system is different. It got to the point where he said he'd send the police to arrest me at work, I told him to go ahead. In the end he got angry and told me I sound like a criminal 😂
OMG! You made me laugh so hard. There is a way to report those scammers on gov.uk. I once got a phone call like that, I have informed them that I was with NCA and they were under investigation. 😂
Also, if this was a genuine matter, the Inland Revenue would send an official letter, not a phone call. No official letter means it’s a scam. I am 75 and I had the same call. I listened to the introduction and then started laughing out loud down the phone. “Madam, Madam, you don’t understand the seriousness of this call!” I said “thank you for making me laugh - you made my day. goodbye”.
Well done mate👏👏. My mother had a call recently about her national insurance no. Being compromised . Knew it wasn’t legit straight away and didn’t even reply but unfortunately many do. People really need to be aware nowadays.
I answer the phone in Welsh, this does lead to confusion , then on into English after "Do you understand English?" "Yes,thanks",to others , including "Do you not know the Queen's English?" "Yes,that's the problem, she's not Welsh" "You are mad" ""Did you say Mad?You'll have to speak up,I'm not wearing my Appliance" "I am trying to have a professional conversation with you,you are being obstructive" I have a Halloween sound effect toy which has a Wolf Howl. I use that, and the South east Asian voice suddenly developes a good grasp of Anglo-Saxon.
Folks, whenever this kind of people calls keep them on the call as long as possible (I do it) so that they don't get enough time to scam other innocents people
Nicely done. I told them that my bank account had been frozen due to unpaid third party charges and that i didnt have an alternate source of funds to pay. I then spent 15 minutes trying to convince them to send me money so that I could unlock my account and then be able to pay them. Fella went off to ask his manager if it was possible! and the line went dead. 🤣
This is a reminder to always double check the legitimacy of something if unsure. I was getting numerous calls from these scammers and I’m glad I took the time to make sure.
Not really. Thanks to other scam baiters, right now the average is about 1 successful victim per 100 -150 calls. There are even scam call centres that go days without one successful scam. :) People automatically get suspicious on any call from someone with an indian accent. Even legitimate calls with indian accents, people will ask to speak to a person without this accent. I have done this myself several times when I call my bank, ISP etc. That's bad for the indian people, but they brought this distrust on themselves.
@@josephh891 Nah people won't ask would they? I've received a few calls like this. Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep the guys on the line for long. First, I love the way they pick English names. In this sort of scam as in others, I've had callers introduce themselves as Steve, Ian, and even Mary, with accents that scream "Indian Subcontinent" and dodgy lines. I also love the way they threaten us with arrest within 15 or 20 minutes! A clever touch is telling you not to involve a third party. Very wise because that happened that person might be less gullible and smell a rat. But I'm jealous: none of them up to now has told ME my phone was tapped! In the end you did what I'm told is the only thing we can do: force those scammers to waste their time. So: bravo!
Recently I have gone self employed and when they tried it on with me, I thought I’d messed up somehow. I was bloody scared. Thankfully having seen videos like this and Jim Browning videos I realised what these little shit stains are up to and hung up. Great awareness to this scam, good job.

Since then I've been binge watching all of Kitboga's clever scambaiting videos on TH-cam, so I'm really clued up now. Nice to see a fellow Brit is also wasting these scumbags' time!! Nice job 😊
The scammer realised his victim knows its a scam and he got pissed off
I like to ask them the time, because my watch has stopped. You'd be surprised how many give me the time in their local without thinking about it.
👏👏👏
Bravo!
Edit: So what happens next? Do you pretend to be highly alarmed that you might have slipped through a gap in the space time continuum? Do THEY pretend they've done the same thing? Does everything get a bit metaphysical after that? Do you argue about whether it's actually night or day?

Commiserations. Anxiety can still spike even when the person knows it's a scam. My phone is mostly ornamental!
My daughter was about to transfer over 10k as the caller was an English lady whose number was cloned with the same bank number on her card. Luckily I said we will check with the bank and was told you have less than 15 minutes before your account is hacked and emptied.. Luckily TSB confirmed it was not them..be careful you won't always get an Indian person scamming you which in this case was less conviincing
This is scam baiting and baiters give fake information. Basically purposefully wasting their time for good reason.
That was really entertaining you did well to keep him talking so long. Being Welsh I answer them in Welsh the disadvantage is they dont last very long on the phone

Honestly out of the scams I’ve come across this is one of the meanest ones. Imagine how someone who actually falls got this must feel. Thanks for making us aware!
I would make a friendly debate that the only one I know is meaner is the one where a loved one is in jail or hospital and they need money to treat them.
how can these scammers live with themselves seriously! this is awful

@Allan Smith ah ok thanks

It’s fun.
You should ring him back after 25 minutes and ask where the police are
Hahaha
Yes definitely
You can't, because any number they give you doesn't exist.
Yeah, say you put the kettle on and opened a packet of biscuits for them too.

Fair play to you for keeping Mr Smith talking! The phone went down pretty quick ... I don't work for them and never have, but they don't know that! 😂😂
I wonder whether they actually know what HMRC actually stands for. Fun to drop that into the conversation after 30 minutes or so.
Good work sir, I've had a call like this, threatening me with arrest and a possible prison sentence, thank you for your good work, bless you 👍
Good video, I was called yesterday about my board band and people steeling my IP address!!

BUSTED

You played Ron so well. Excellent. Have received similar in the past, I just have to ask them how they can sleep at night knowing what they are up to, either that or simply state that I work for the HMRC. I hope Ron realises he too has been recorded.
Hahaha....plonkers...
Big mistake by the scammer. Courts in the UK are not referred to as a 'Courthouse'.
What theres a jury already, is it a murder case?
Also, if this was a genuine matter, the Inland Revenue would send an official letter, not a phone call. No official letter means it’s a scam. I am 75 and I had the same call. I listened to the introduction and then started laughing out loud down the phone. “Madam, Madam, you don’t understand the seriousness of this call!” I said “thank you for making me laugh - you made my day. goodbye”.
They're not? Oops. I've called them that for years.
When did HMRC have an office in India?
Or "goathouse" as they say smh...
Well done mate👏👏. My mother had a call recently about her national insurance no. Being compromised . Knew it wasn’t legit straight away and didn’t even reply but unfortunately many do. People really need to be aware nowadays.
Can you imagine if everyone took the time to do this. Such scams would likely be completely unprofitable. Well done.
Folks, whenever this kind of people calls keep them on the call as long as possible (I do it) so that they don't get enough time to scam other innocents people
"Can I keep you on hold, while I trace you call and hack your computer?" guess not, lol
Is it still true that if you don’t put the phone back on the hook, the caller cannot make another call.
I just start talking a load of Gibberish back to them and they soon hang up.
Sadly I've fallen for this before :( That's so much for this video, you'll be helping out so many people.
Its sad because alot of people will fall for this easily.
yes, but only if you have 1 brain cell

So: bravo!
