As a Romanian, nothing brings me more joy than seeing this group get the justice that they deserve. They're lucky that they didn't get caught in the U.S., they would have a whole lot more than 5 years. Better in jail than back home in Romania living it up and being a bad example to youngsters, bribing politicians, and so on. These three have no practical skills, if it were up to me I'd lock them in and lose the key until they can prove that they can do something else to make a living, a trade, or a degree or something-anything.

Unfortunately that’s fraud for you, the sentences 99% pale in comparison to the personal torment experienced by victims, i watched a documentary a few years back and a “boiler room” had conned victims out of millions and received petty sentences less than 2 years and what made it worse was it was the second time they had been caught running a scam.
The sentences are never served either, such is our soft system. 2 years and 6 months would mean just over a year in custody. Seems like a decent living if you can hide the money you steal. I doubt any of these could earn close in legal jobs.

British justice is weird. You steal a pair of trainers from Sports Direct and you will be sentenced to 2 years in jail. Defraud someone out of hundreds of thousands of pounds and you get 3 years.

Magnificent police work. Solid as a rock case for judge to render judgement. The only problem there is their law on punishment it is quite laughable compare to the magnitude of damage they done that is almost equivalent to a lifetime of hard work for some people they scammed. Ebay is for cheap and second hand! Things that you know there's a chance it won't be the best quality but good enough to use. If I've had any issues the've refunded me adequately. I have been using it for many years as a seller and buyer and it is great but watching this has made me realize that you should never spend over £100. Glad I found this
These scams weren't done through Ebay. The scammers faked Ebay, duping their victims into believing that their transactions were actually going through legitimate Ebay accounts. The latter is why the victims won't get their money back, real Ebay was not involved.

I have never been scammed on eBay. I check seller feedback, I check out addresses if a person has a low feedback score I screen and check by doing either a linkedin or facebook search. I use a lot of precautions. Perfectly safe if followed. Check senders for emails, check links properly etc. I frequently buy and sell phones, laptops, audio equipment without issue.

When I got emails from the buyer along the lines of “where’s my iPhone”, I was at first dumbfounded, because that’s how I found out, what had happened. I also openend a case with police, but unfortunately they couldn’t find the perpetrator, But just saying: I had NO hassle, and had to pay nothing, eBay paid!

Couldn't agree more! There was a man in my town who needed investors for his company. He scammed four families he knew very well he had been friends with one of them for over twenty years. In total they gave him just over a couple million dollars! so as soon as they started questioning him and figured it was a scam he disappeared. No one knows where he is including his own family, he hasn't been seen in years.

In latin america, we have a service that is similar to eBay, but the sellers only get paid when the buyer receives the product. The buyer clears the payment or authorizes it and the seller has the proof of delivery in case something goes wrong (someone else gets the delivery).
I'm an ex offender myself years ago BUT BLAITENTLY STEALING PEOPLES MONEY LIKE THIS no way I couldnt be responsible for such misery but these don't seem to mind
@Chris G I think you've missed the bit where the police will now look to seize assets such as property, cars, jewelery etc under proceeds of crime. That's not just what they have here in UK, but also Romania. They can also freeze their bank accounts and seize any ill gotten gains from those too.

I don't understand why people would pay 1000's for a vehicle either without test driving or seeing it to make sure the car is legit. And then it could be a transfer after then. But some people can be scammed this way, but via ebay? C'mon! But this docu proves it happens to people. I feel so bad for them. But at the same time, annoyed that they were stupid enough to part with such large amounts of cash. Especially how many people know the internet is so full of scammers these days. Even the banks should have stepped in with such a large amount being transferred to such a new account. There needs to be a lot more security by banks to limit those kind of funds being transferred so easily to newly created accounts.

I'm working in Saudi Arabia. There's a local bank here called Rajhi Bank. The bank itself scams its own clients. An example of their tricks is they contact you and ask you if you're interested in having a credit card issued for you by the bank. Suppose you say no. Still, they would issue it anyway and charge you for it a hefty issuance fee. If you refuse to pay, they start threatening to take you to court.
Considering the unrecoverable large sum, the unrecoverable pain and suffering they caused, it seems crime does pay after all. After 3 to 5 years and still, be able to use the funds sent offshore sounds pretty good for the criminals. I say waking up each morning at 5 am for the next 5 years in hard labour incarceration

A friend gave furnished house in Walthamstow to a working class Romanian family. Working class worked day and night and strip all what they can from the house and left him a shell. He end up only with 3 month rent and nearly had a heart attack when he got his shell back. WC family moved all the stuff and fixed their back home.

They gave me a story about a lady’s son dying in a motorcycle crash and she couldn’t stand seeing the car anymore so she was selling a brand new car for $3,500. I am not a Romanian but all the Romanians that I know are very nice and hard working people but this kind of fraudsters exist every where! Good to see they are behind the bars now! And hopefully it will be chance for them to rethink about their lives! In the meantime, I sell online and many times I see customers don’t trust in pay and delivery stuff and I have lost a lot of business bcuz of such criminals and probably I deserve some compensation from their seized assets 😂

Unfortunately that’s fraud for you, the sentences 99% pale in comparison to the personal torment experienced by victims, i watched a documentary a few years back and a “boiler room” had conned victims out of millions and received petty sentences less than 2 years and what made it worse was it was the second time they had been caught running a scam.

The sentences are never served either, such is our soft system. 2 years and 6 months would mean just over a year in custody. Seems like a decent living if you can hide the money you steal. I doubt any of these could earn close in legal jobs.

British justice is weird. You steal a pair of trainers from Sports Direct and you will be sentenced to 2 years in jail. Defraud someone out of hundreds of thousands of pounds and you get 3 years.

Ebay is for cheap and second hand! Things that you know there's a chance it won't be the best quality but good enough to use. If I've had any issues the've refunded me adequately. I have been using it for many years as a seller and buyer and it is great but watching this has made me realize that you should never spend over £100. Glad I found this

These scams weren't done through Ebay. The scammers faked Ebay, duping their victims into believing that their transactions were actually going through legitimate Ebay accounts. The latter is why the victims won't get their money back, real Ebay was not involved.

I have never been scammed on eBay. I check seller feedback, I check out addresses if a person has a low feedback score I screen and check by doing either a linkedin or facebook search. I use a lot of precautions. Perfectly safe if followed. Check senders for emails, check links properly etc. I frequently buy and sell phones, laptops, audio equipment without issue.

I alerted eBay, they closed the case for me, contacted the buyer and I believe refunded the money to him!
I also openend a case with police, but unfortunately they couldn’t find the perpetrator,
But just saying: I had NO hassle, and had to pay nothing, eBay paid!

Couldn't agree more! There was a man in my town who needed investors for his company. He scammed four families he knew very well he had been friends with one of them for over twenty years. In total they gave him just over a couple million dollars! so as soon as they started questioning him and figured it was a scam he disappeared. No one knows where he is including his own family, he hasn't been seen in years.

In latin america, we have a service that is similar to eBay, but the sellers only get paid when the buyer receives the product. The buyer clears the payment or authorizes it and the seller has the proof of delivery in case something goes wrong (someone else gets the delivery).

I don't understand why people would pay 1000's for a vehicle either without test driving or seeing it to make sure the car is legit. And then it could be a transfer after then. But some people can be scammed this way, but via ebay? C'mon! But this docu proves it happens to people. I feel so bad for them. But at the same time, annoyed that they were stupid enough to part with such large amounts of cash. Especially how many people know the internet is so full of scammers these days. Even the banks should have stepped in with such a large amount being transferred to such a new account. There needs to be a lot more security by banks to limit those kind of funds being transferred so easily to newly created accounts.

I was unable to open a bank account for my wife, because they was asking a prof of address (which is fresh) national insurance number (also month old) prof of working and only after all checks they give my wife a bank account.

I'm working in Saudi Arabia. There's a local bank here called Rajhi Bank. The bank itself scams its own clients. An example of their tricks is they contact you and ask you if you're interested in having a credit card issued for you by the bank. Suppose you say no. Still, they would issue it anyway and charge you for it a hefty issuance fee. If you refuse to pay, they start threatening to take you to court.
Just cannot fathom how anyone buys a car without kicking the tires first.
Considering the unrecoverable large sum, the unrecoverable pain and suffering they caused, it seems crime does pay after all. A friend gave furnished house in Walthamstow to a working class Romanian family.
Working class worked day and night and strip all what they can from the house and left him a shell. He end up only with 3 month rent and nearly had a heart attack when he got his shell back. WC family moved all the stuff and fixed their back home.
I v rented a flat on airbnb in Romania to british turists, after they left the flat smelled like public toilet, cost me 3000 euros for the repairs

I actually experienced this but I knew it was a scam so I never gave them any money. They gave me a story about a lady’s son dying in a motorcycle crash and she couldn’t stand seeing the car anymore so she was selling a brand new car for $3,500. They gave me the run around about seeing the car in person before I sent the money. Kept saying it was being detailed or shipped to them etc

It took me almost a year and I had to rent a Bank account from a colleague who got multiple accounts to have my wage payed if not I had to queue and pay a high cost for cashing a well earned cheque from an ugly cashier who is doing me a favor kind of attitude. In the meantime, I sell online and many times I see customers don’t trust in pay and delivery stuff and I have lost a lot of business bcuz of such criminals and probably I deserve some compensation from their seized assets 😂
