Back in 2019, I had to sell my 2015 Fiesta ST. We had twins in addition to out 18 month-old son, so I’ve been driving a Chrysler Pacifica for the past 5 years… Yesterday, I bought a 2018 Fist. It feels so good to be back in the car. Thank you for this video. Thank you Ford for the ST/RS cars while we had them. #SeeYouInTheStreets
Damn, seems like even a rather basic full time AWD system is a gigantic advantage over 2WD on a loose surface considering that a stock VB WRX on high performance summer tires is still faster than a much smaller and lighter Fiesta ST rally car on gravel tires.
there is also more than likely a huge power disparity between the WRX and the Fiesta here, sure there is less grip technically but exit speeds are MUCH faster with the WRX just because it can spin all four easily as well
They ran the fiesta in the wrc for so many years and now discontinued it and yet we still never got an awd rs version 😭 Welp now the yaris gr exists. From toyota of all companies.
@@tnmblonewolf8799 and the focus rs and the subaru impreza wrx sti and the lancer evo and the audi quattro and the delta integrale and… Now we only have the gr yaris. Yeah it makes sense, they dont need a homologation model anymore so why bother. But those cars were some of the coolest you could buy
@@Mr.Marbles I do not know where you are located, but the Yaris GR is VERBOTEN in the USA for street use, as were the Integrales when they were dominating the Group A era of the WRC. ☹
I will donate my mostly stock fiesta st for the next video to compare the wrx time. Please contact me if interested. Bolt ons, no tune, with radiator and short throw shifter. I'm 100% ok with any consequences for the sake of car science
Braver than I (or you have many multiple rides to choose from?), as I will not even autocross or open track mine as it is a daily driven, ONLY car for me. But I have worked on ARA rallies with it, but only driving at less than half the pace that Cyr carries down the stages in this car in the video, and with a skid plate, evap canister protector, and fairly tough wheels/tires.
Here in Europe we don't use this version of Fiesta. We use the 1 litre turbo with original 140 hp. The rally version has more hp and the 5 speed sequential gearbox. 3 cylinders
The only hothatches left for sale new are FoST, Golf GTI (every VW iteration of it) and the Type R which is ludicrously expensive. Everything else is capital ded.
@BB-wz6bx I understand, l just said that, cause here in Europe, we have many different type of these litte cars to race in the rally. And maybe we have little different rules between Europe and US
@@Gasoline2009 Yes, the WRC ERC, etc. rules only allow for the base Fiesta 3 cylinder Ecoboost to compete in the Rally 4 (used to be R2C) class, and not the Mk7 1.6 ST Ecoboost, nor even the Euro only Mk8 3 cylinder Ecoboost. The Rally 3 class Fiesta is based on the Mk8 ST, but yes with an AWD kit added along with the Sadev sequential similar to the one used in the FWD Rally 4 car. Since it is such a minor, unsupported (except for the Scoobie Motorsport USA/Vermont Sportscar big buck juggernaut) and unwatched form of motorsport here in the states, very few can afford to campaign any actual Rally 2 or 3 cars here, let alone any older Rally 1 (pre-hybrid factory cars) rides here. There are even very few true, full Rally 4 spec cars in our fields here, sadly.
@brycea0225 yeah but the focus is like the fiesta just fwd. Just the R5 group the fiesta are awd. And think the different between the WRC and the R5, are not just the different HP, but the WRC has the central differential, in the R5 just front and rear different, in the center there's just a solid trasmission.
asking if a ford fiesta st will rally is like asking if a pencil can write on paper

@@advantist it's turbocharged, I'm not so sure it's that below WRX numbers. And it's like 300 kg lighter. And tires comparison...
I really like this style of video, 1 angle from drivers perspective. Perfect.
FiST has to be one of the few cars to win nationals in Autocross and Rallycross - great video
Also the National Rally America Championships as well (full speed gravel rally, not SCCA Rallycross) with ACP driving.

Yeah import stuff is always a problem in us
I love that the chime stayed in
Whats more impressive is the stock WRX on stock tires did a 1:50 (1:48 in their follow up video)!
Right??!
Absolutely love this series, please never stop! Thanks to everyone at Team O’Neil for making this my favorite series on youtube!!!

thank you for the video
You're welcome
Love u finally did this.
Thank you
Can you do a Subaru Tribeca b9
looks like it might rally!
great camera angle during the run
In a better world the Fiesta ST would still be made...
In even a "bigger and heavier is (NOT) always better" world it would still be made. 😉😡

Does Chris' car above have any form of limited slip installed in the standard IB6 transaxle (or are they not allowed in the Limited 2WD class?)??
Suzuki sx4 next? 🫣
will ya'll do a first gen porsche cayenne? I've seen people offroad them but never seen someone try to send it down a gravel road

Why do you guys not have even the most basic external timing system?
I was wondering that. Can't be that hard or expensive to set up.
Rally car, will it rally?
