I own the same black MK8, and after ruing 2 sets of brakepads in 4 trackdays the first thing that I changed was upgrading to a big brake kit. Rollbars and extra HP are nice, but not if your car cant handle them for more than 10min. Would recommend to all, the biggest weakness of the car, just like they said. Now the car is a beast and can keep going all day!
I put 4 ferodo DS500, racing liquid for brakes and metal hoses. I use to drive fiesta by mountains roads every week and i dont need more. But if some day i drive to much and very hard, the brakes still get hot. But u have to be an animal for get tired your brakes. In a circuit i think is indispensable to improve brakes in any car. By the way in more pretty is blue performance .P.

Brake cooling can sometimes be required (especially with high performance pads). Braking is converting friction into heat. The better the friction, more the heat. Thus, can happen that better pads perform worse because of small brake discs that heat up quickly, especially with weak or no cooling. Heat can not dissipate quick enough, causing resins in pads to evaporate intensively and eventually brake fluid to boil (especially if any moisture it fluid) .
as a 5x100 Subaru driver I can attest that this is a fact. I bought a sheet of 6AL4V titanium and made some brake pad shims that helped tremendously with the fluid boiling.....also using the SRF fluid helped as well.
Ford know how to build a great handling car especially fwd, one of the best fwd cars ove driven was a mk1 focus RS . Absolutely outstanding car just so raw and thw turn in was amazing. On a back road with the right driver ...honestly it's one of the best cars
I think I like the rear camera more than with the paddles. You’ve proven your footwork is great and consistent! And I enjoy watching the rear view when you overtake and to keep an eye on for upcoming traffic😊
I put on a 6 calliper big brake from tarox in front, tarox discs in the rear and tarox strada pads. Works great. Now it can break hard from over 240 kph on the motorway. The Fister is damn quick on B roads and track. Nice Video! All the best Felix

Steel brake lines, castrol brake oil, stock discs, and the ferodo DS2500 pads, stock power, and michelin cup2 tires 215/40/18. With two in the car, no fading here after one hot lap, 15 min cooling break time. The brake oil and steel brake lines give's every car so much better brake pedal feel en more trust.

I have the previous gen FiST (182) and about the brakes "issues" the key with this architecture is to deactivate all the safety modules (which I did minus the abs). The car is another animal, it has even better rotation, no timing cut when spinning, and better than everything: no overheating brakes. I can do 30-40 minutes session, I will loose intercooler cooling way before brakes. Setup : PBS pads / Brembo plain discs / braided lines / RB600F.
A friend had a Fiesta and said something about this and I was unclear how it would have been but apparently the whole system is a brake eating, non trackable option
I do like the rear lights I have to say. Prefer the mk7 but this one looks really nice. Confidence inspiring cars for sure, would put bigger brake kit on with some cooling ducts myself!
I also own one, but mine’s the 125hp mild hybrid. Yes, drum brake at the rear, but somehow it’s still a fun car to drive. It’s the perfect daily to me. (Let’s keep in mind the price, of course I’d buy an ST if I could). Oh, and I forgot to say that I put some Pilot Sport 5 on it. You can push it as hard as you can, there’s always enough grip for the 1.0 Ecoboost. 4 years with the Fiesta at the moment and more than 90000km without any problems.

Mk8 st is incredible car out the box. Biggest issue is the brakes since they are the same size from a 125hp st line. It’s no wonder they burn out in half a lap.
Why do people think brakes have to do with hp? All about brakes is speed + mass, called kinetic energy. Horsepower is not a factor for braking. Since the 125hp has the same weight, it is equal. It just does not reach that top speed.
@@dom3827 no but more horsepower means a higher top speed witch means additional braking power is required to bring the car down. If going by your logic then why do hyper cars have carbon ceramics the size of the average car wheel if HP doesn’t matter.

Sounds amazing, especially sound coming from behind. I had problems with the drivers position, but the force feedback & raw power in that lightweight thing is amazing. On the road this car is more than you need!
@StefanP742 from 230 to 250 is quite a difference though so if it's 230 or 240 let's say it's still a difference plus the 4wd of the yaris plus how way more expensive is so my comment stays the same the ford would way better than this mediocre thing for this money and his specs
@@ecobeast1.0 guessing the guy hasn't had it dyno'd, I see the figures for stage 1 on the mk8 st range between 230ish to 250... so yeah somewhere inbetween... tbh they are very capable cars, when I had mine I put KW v3 coilovers on it, a front strut brace and rear torsion bar and it handled so well! So controlled and could go into corners so fast with a bit of rotation but was always so easy to correct
Seems the driver in the fiesta could of taken the Yaris if it just a little more power, or if the yarris moved over i think the fiesta would pulled away by better driving .
Every car that's going on the track needs upgraded fluid, braided lines and pads. If you can't get the original to fade, you're not driving fast enough.

When you encounter such person as in the Yaris I think you should drop back for 30 seconds and then flat out again it doesn’t seem worth it to go into the back of them because they don’t know the braking points properly I know you shouldn’t have to do that and they should move over but some just don’t and it’s not worth being in harms way because some lemon thinks his skill level is much higher than it actually is!

The brakes are garbage on the st. Literally the same size of disc found in the st line 125

Got 100k Kilometer on mine. Drove 30k with Stage 1 and now with Stage 1 with around 260hp with 360nm without Any Problems.

In the track mode the E diff is disabled and it relies only in the mechanical LSD.

The ST is nice. But the GR is absolutely brilliant. In my opinion, it already acquired Rally Royalty status from its performance in WRC.

its meant as a sort of shift indicator, if it starts blinking it also means flat shift is avaiable so you can upshift without lifing the gas

All you need is braided lines, better brake fluid and some proper track pads. It doesn't cost much in these cars, very moddable on a budget
