To all the people commenting that I should have played the worst matchup, I already have a video on this that shows at the first 5 seconds of the video.
You should have played tank in that video, but you chickened out and just rolled low rank plebs on damage heroes. If you really believe that counter picking on tank is not a thing, then play the worst matchup on tank in your rank and not some lower ranked games.
@@Void619 His entire point is that if you’re better than someone it doesn’t matter who you play. But if he plays against people who are as good as him then it’s gonna be a 50/50 and his point won’t be proven. If you’re in a low rank and he showed you that countering doesn’t apply to low ranks you got nothing to complain about.
@@Void619i made my way to top 14 otp dva. You think they dont pick zayra/mei/symm? I won anyways, if you are here, at least tey to improve and stop this bs about counters.
@@Void619 he did an unranked to GM rein only and ball only. Ofc in those games, he had games where he was playing against entire teams trying to counter his one trick pick. Doesn't that prove you wrong already?
Me and friends played against this tank who died once and countered within the first second of the game. So our tank countered and this kept happening through the entire game.
Some of the people I play with literally don't talk about any sort of strategy or different playstyle if they're losing, it's literally just "hmm what should I swap to"
This is mainly tanks and dps, as a suppprt player you can play kiri ana and bap and instantly get value but if a shitty tank is counterpicked and killed every fight then he will swap as the solution.
I pretty much just stay Winston no matter what, because the enemy team is going to self-destruct with toxicity when they go full counter picks and aren't auto winning. I don't think I've actually ever lost to a Hog or Mauga player even in D1-M4 because they spend the ENTIRE game going "must counter monkey, must counter monkey" except my mobility is 20x better and I just literally never let them take the 1v1 against me. So I spend all match killing their team, while they spend all match trying and failing to kill me. I take full map control against their team and they're left with no angles, eventually my team shreds their tanks, I don't need to be able to 1v1 a Hog or Mauga because eventually we'll just 5v1 them.
I dont think anybody has ever denied that if youre better than the enemy tank you dont need to counterswap. But if youre evenly matched countering definitely makes the match a whole lot easier. Theres no myth here lol
That’s the point he’s making. If you focus on getting better instead of counter picking and who’s meta then it’s a better use of time. If your good counterpicking doesn’t exist
@danielmcgrath680 100% agree. I really like awkwards vids but this one was a miss for me. Counterpicking 100% works most the time in an even match. I've lost count of how many times I've seen games completely turn around for my team or the other because of a simple counter swap.
@@danielmcgrath680that 28% winrate is only indicative that you need to work on your Winston more. You're never gonna get your Winston wr if you just swap and don't fucking play the hero. The only time swapping would be necessary is if you're forcing it in top 500+

I have a rule for counterpicking, if the enemy team has three or more characters that i feel are countering me, and i cant make it work, then i swap. Im a genji one trick so if i swapped every time i got "countered" id literally never play my hero. If they play zarya, no problem, if they play moira zarya, no problem, if they play moira zarya and another "counter", ill try and make it work but if i cant i swap to reaper or solider (the only heroes i even have a clue how to play, again im a genji otp). The amount of times that i am getting countered by 3 heroes, and i cant make it work at all, are pretty rare, meaning i get to play my hero and improve. Also love how whenever a team is losing its always because im playing genji into my "counter". "Were losing becaue of you, they are playing sym get off genji". Meanwhile ive killed the sym 5 times and the only one killing me is their cree who has cracked aim. Sure im having trouble, but its not cause of the "counter", its cause the other dps has higher skill than me. Swapping to a hero im worse at wont help me deal with the counter that hasnt even been the reason im struggling XD. lol, everytime someone says "get off genji they are playing counters" im like "if i swapped evertime they played a flying or beam character id never even get to play my hero".
i feel like you don’t realize how much the ow community actually hates genji until you pick him up for yourself. even when i was tryna learn him in QUICK PLAY, after a single team fight they went zarya, mei, sym, moira, brig. how many kills did i get in the first team fight? 2. just 2.
@@ysmmac6015 One thing that is interesting is that most people know all the counters, dps, tank and support against tanks. Not so much for dps and supports, However, a few characters in the dps and support roster do still have this community knowledge and "vendetta". Imo genji is the one that people actively think to counter the most. Another honourable mention would be like pharah (go hitscan). Yes people know counters to almost every hero, but tanks, and it feels like genji really like, people hone in on making your life miserable. Cant tell you how many times ive had a dps switch to sombra and literally follow me around all game hacking me whenever i try to do something, i remember it was so bad once, that I literally would just wait for the 8 second cooldown to wear off and anticipate that the second it was gone the sombra would come in again for the hack, and used that as my opportunity. Another reason people love counterswapping genji, is that most genjis have no idea how to play into their counters. Ive worked a lot on it and can comfortably say that mei, sym, pharah, moira, and zarya no longer pose an issue if its just them and maybe somone else countering. Still struggle a lot with sombra though. been working on that.
@@noahm6782 yea i’m still fairly new to genji and even tho it pisses me off i gotta learn how to play into anything. it’s just so frustrating when one of your 2 cool downs becomes pretty much useless. one time i played doom and this ana after the game literally said sorry to me because she was only using sleep and nade to make my life miserable. i typed back “it’s all good, i gotta learn how to play into it anyway.” it’s just sometimes i play that game in a bad mood and getting cc’d to oblivion or counterswapped while playing the one hero that made me boot up the game that day is insanely tilting lol

@@battlehotdog yeah just look through awkward videos he don’t post much. It was like “i played the WORST matchups to prove counter picking doesn’t exist” maybe?
I actually hope you lose every match to stop the counterpick pandemic. It’s sad how people sometimes rotate through to all the “counters” without really playing the game, only to end up on the hero they started with after a match of practically having no clue. A better option would be to sometimes swap to a hero that fits your team better so you learn to play in certain comps or just stay at the hero you want to play and use your brain a bit more.
sometimes, you have statistics on this? it isn't some rule where you have to swap, it's contextual. And it works every time, you have to deliberately make a scenario where it doesn't. Then zathren says the same thing all over again, no one ever switches that much.
I think this is ultimately a case of: do you want to learn or do you want to win? If you play your character against your counters you will learn more. If I could play my main all matches without getting asked to swap I would. My opinion is that I can't be selfish though (in ranked). I have 4 teammates that, generally speaking, want to win and I wouldn't stay on my character if I'm being countered AND they ask me to swap AND I think I'm underperforming. If someone wants statistical data about swapping, KMK made a video about swapping, and the players swap more the higher rank you go up to gm, where it starts decreasing because people basically only play meta. The roles that swap the most are tank, then dps, then support. The video was made before orisa got dismembered in the latest patch, and orisa was both the most countered tank and the tank people swapped to the most lol.
@@stowlicters8362 Assuming you are trying to say something useful, can you please explain what it is you want to say? Im interested in your view on this matter but this is a bit confusing to read. I say sometimes, but you want statistics? on what sometimes is? If I am correct you say that it is not a rule and that it is contextual (I assume you mean that it is not a must and with that I totally agree) It is not a rule, but it always works you say if I am correct? (That is something of which I would like to have some statistics if it is true please) and then you need to deliberately try to not make a counterswap scenario work, else it would always work? This last scentence is true because I have had many games where the counterswap did not work. They tried to counterswap me and I made the scenario that I won from their counterswaps while staying on the same hero I always play. But I doubt that is what you mean so technically true but not in this context I believe. Then you state someone agrees with me, which is fine and true and finally you say no one ever switches that much (I would like some statistics on that) and by “not that much” you mean “sometimes”? Or do you mean they do swap, but not that often in the same match (which is not true unless some of my games never actually existed and im hallucinating the moment I really seem to get in a match where that happen?) Help me out a bit please.
Not going to lie, I'm always very flattered when the enemy Tank swaps to Zarya. I believe that means they think my Dva is the "problem." It doesn't usually help them tho, I just stay out of their beam range. But still, flattering.
exactly. most unfavorable tank matchups are solved by just avoiding the other tank. i think it only becomes a problem with heroes like orisa, because they can just rotate all their cds on you and completely remove you from the game, and there's nothing within your power to avoid it on some heroes
@@kaiki-desu8193 the idea is to take off angles or high ground and kill squishies instead of trying to 1v1 the zarya. it's a given that playing dva only from range doesn't make sense; i'm pretty sure they weren't saying that
@@Paul-zh2jp This works to some extent until you're trying to play ball into hog and there's a 40 meter wide circle of death that the enemy supports simply have to play inside to be protected from me(the diameter of roadhog's hook range). Like if there's a massive skill diff I'll just juke his hooks or kill supports so fast that he doesn't respond but it's really not that hard to listen for the giant metal ball rolling in and then hook the gigantic hamsterball. Countering is a gradient, and obviously isn't just the hero but the play-style around it, some counter strategies are just far simpler than others. Obviously Awkward is a far better player than me but even this gameplay shows it, he's not used to play the hog countering winston style at all. He hooks into winstons bubble and then lets his Ana die when he could have played it patient and waited till bubble breaks expires or he gets a support hoook to trade out but instead he greeds rushing into the bubble and missing hook, winston jumps his ana now that hook has no CD and kills her then because the enemy team swaps tank he goes in an feeds intentionally to try and swap off, then forgets to swap off and goes back and ultis. Like entertaining as fuck but he's doing a bit at that point and then uses him almost getting capped on there as an example of how counterpicking wasn't really effective (when you're actively feeding while you have ulti up to swap for the lulz) Some tanks just need to augment their playstyle to deal with various "counters' others have trouble leveraging any value at all verse certain tanks playing certain ways. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk. That said I do find it pretty funny how many people spend half the game swapping while trying to find the perfect counter while just getting rolled on by skill diff and never building up an ulti.

@@Yummeosbada No it isn't, you're being pedantic, stop being dishonest. I counter swap normally and I only end up swapping 1 to 3 times a game. Huge difference.
To be honest i always thought that you can play any tank and tank counters help you win but the counter itself wont be like a free win button. HOWEVER dps countering tanks are a really big problem. I think dps countering tanks are way more impactful than tank countering tanks. (Ex doom gets countered by orisa and hog but still able to outplay and go for backline, but for dps cass/sombra are literally almost impossible to counter)
This is such a smooth brain approach. Counterpicking is based on the entire enemy team, and the skill of the enemy. I've had people play Zarya against my Dva but they clearly don't understand how she works and they eventually swap despite being on the better pick. You can also be on a good pick relative to the enemy tank but if the enemies are running Zen/Ana then going Orisa is likely not a good idea. You have to take the whole situation into account but your video over simplifies the game to the point of being useless.

Yeah, i feel like the premise of this video is a little silly… Like what is this supposed to show? You make it sound as if you’re proving something meaningful when really you are just making certain interactions between characters more favorable/simpler… aka counter picking… If you wanna silence the complaints about counter-picking this is the reverse approach to take… A good example would have been the OPPOSITE of what you are doing, for example: the enemy team has Mauga and Bastion, go Winston and show us how you overcome the challenge of dealing with two characters that can make your kit feel less impactful … that would be a meaningful video because it would do two things… 1. show that when someone ‘counters’ you that just means you have to adjust your decision making to improve your odds 2. Give people who struggle with this concept good examples on how to overcome those limitations./challenges. The fact that you insist that counter picking isn’t a real thing seems very disingenuous. You’re not helping, you’re flexing.
Counterpicking isn't really about the tank matchup, though. As a top 500 flex tank, the main issue is that the higher up you go, the more you ignore the enemy tank. What realistically pushes you to counter swap are the supports and the DPS. If I'm playing Roadhog and the enemy goes Orisa, I'm going to ignore the Orisa primarily. There's some gameplay variety, but if they go Ana, Tracer, I provide no value. Because I'm the singular tank on the team, we, in terms of total value, have the worst comp. If we were playing on an equal level, they win simply because of counterpicking. That's why in Overwatch2, counterpicking is more oppressive.
I main rein and I don’t think ram is a good counter to him… When ramattra came out, he was a monster but nowadays his ultimate isn’t eternal and it’s easy to kite when he’s on nemesis form. The major counter is orisa, always feel like hell playing against the demonic horse but never swap, honor is greater than defeat
The problem with people who talk about counter swapping is they are too smart. Ram doesn’t counter you directly, but he makes your job very unfun at times. He can pressure you and your shield AND anyone who is around you…( who whole point of rein brawl is to stay together) it’s not like you couldn’t beat a ram in a 1v1 on rein, but when it comes time to play the team game, Ram’s job is to make your job miserable. Same with most cases of counter swapping. Then the counters stack up on the enemy team and suddenly the game becomes unplayable on ur certain character when your rank is current for the season and u aren’t in placements
As a rammatra player i agree. The reason why i won against most rein players is because they were very bad, they were overextending ect. The times where i lost against rein players was when they were really good(it wasn't my teams fault, truth be told, i got diffed so hard in those games).
An equally good rein vs ram, rein will always win. Rein counters ram. Ppl just think hur dur punch through shield. Yeah man, u disengage when he’s in punch mode and maul him when he’s out of it.
I respected to u as a content maker, i learned from u a lot long time ago. But this video is too much. U exactly know that counter picking works when u have same level of knowledge. U making people think that counterpicking is not a case, but the true is that counter picking is a tool that gives u ton of good impact if u know how to use it. Im saying it as consistent t500 player that got match ups almost against every tier1-tier3 players.
When you got 24k damage in zarya that means you're soo good and flipped the table because your team was bad and not helping enough You were able to kill multiple enemies from different directions like a hacker which mean that you have a very high sense in the game
I agree with you but with people at the same skill level, counter pick is a thing that exists and works. Certain characters just do better against others at times.
I recently had a match where I was playing Zarya and because I was absolutely rolling the enemy tank he kept counterswaping into Rein and Winston, but that didn’t help him at all. After looking at his profile I realized he had 4000 hours in this game while I only have 400h. This was one of my proudest moments in my overwatch history 😅
It's also up to the rest of your team to pick and play smart too. Notice that the game where Awkward struggles on Zarya vs DVa, it's because he is getting pretty torn up by DVa's DPS deciding to go Soldier along with good support picks vs Zarya...their Soldier posted up high ground on the building towards the end of 2nd point and there was literally nothing Awkward could do about that on Zarya. I pretty much only play Winston, if they go Hog against me and my team decides to bless me by picking Ana, Zen, Tracer, Sojourn...I will literally never swap off Winston, because their tank will stay Hog and lose.
Counter picking sometimes can work in low ranks but eventually people are going to be able to take advantage of the fact that you aren’t good at a hero because you use counter picking as a crutch.
I main ball but I play alot of Orisa aswell, IMO she is good into alot ot tanks. Her javelin can cancel all doomfists abilites, she can stop reins charge with 2 abilities and cant get ulted by him etc etc
I get the point being made, but it seems to me that you're just fundamentally better than these players. Just watch that one Flats video where he has to play rock paper scissors in spawn with enemy tank and you'll see what everyone is talking about
I’m confused by this video. I thought you were going to let yourself be countered to show how you can win in spite of counterswapping. I’m not really sure what the point is of doing the counterswapping yourself. Since if you win, you’re not really proving anything against countering. You’d have to lose to do that, which is hard for a T500 to do in plat lobbies.
This video just proves counter picking works. Yes, you're not just going to win instantly because you're on the optimal tank pick, but the only way to have agency as a tank in solo queue is to be on the optimal pick at all times, or at least close to optimal. A tank that your team can work with that doesn't get shut down by the enemy team.
Is it just me, or is the editing getting a lot better? There's more interesting stuff being added in post. It's nice to see the content getting better in multiple ways.
This community become so weird and toxic. I don't understand why people starting play like this... now u can't play what u want without being countered by 3 enemy on 5. Counter picking isnt necessarily tank vs tank. Its also swapping supp and dps to fill a problem area and gap. If they have a hog/mauga, you go ana+zen/reaper+bastion for example. Even in plat/diam where tanks are sometimes ignoring each other when they can, these swaps make the game easier.
I don't really get the point of the video, if you wanted to prove counter picking is bad shouldn't you have gone the tank that people say gets countered?

I don't get the point of this video. When people say counter swapping is important they're implying that a match up you would usually have trouble with, like Diva against Zarya, can become significantly easier to break the wall if you swap. This doesn't mean you always swap, but it does mean the hero you choose can impact the match up. When you ignore this context it just makes you look like a smug prick, especially since you smurf in every game you play regardless.

If its even, countering makes things much easier i dont think hes a pr*ck i like his videos theyve helped me improve alot, hes just purposefully obtuse on this subject
@@danielmcgrath680 specifically to wait for videos like these. counter swapping works IN EVERY CONTEXT. And when you're more skilled, it works even better. As a support, I counter pick whatever the enemy tank is playing to make the kill easier for my tank 😊 (I.e. enemy Junker Queen I’ll pick Kiriko to counter her ult for my tank & team.. etc)
I think most players dont understand what counterswapping stands for. I do think that counterswapping exists, especially in the Tank role in OW2 because as the solo Tank your weakness cannot be covered by another Tank. Counterswapping can help you to win, especially the higher you go in the ranks but its not the only reason why you are winning. Ofc you have to execute with the Hero in some ways to win. I think the frustrating part about counterswapping is that the player gains an advantage just by picking the right Hero. For most players thats not a fun/good gameplay experience. I think you definitiely should learn how to play against your counters but on the other hand it just doesnt work sometimes.
I mean, the concept of counterpicking, in any game, is used to gain an advantage over your opponent, that does not mean that if you pick Zarya vs Dva, you'll smash Dva and win the game, it's a 5v5 not a 1v1, but at the same time, there are situations where counterpcking will make a difference, take Rein vs Ram or Orisa, all 3 are brawl tanks, with Ram having more versatility and can flex into poke, both Ram and Orisa have all the tools to deal with Rein and even nullify him, Orisa can stop his charge and his ult, while Ram can hit through his shield with pommel, so Rein is at a disadvantage here, now of course, in the end it comes down to personal skill, the better player will still win, most of the time, but you will play at a disadvantage.
I don't know where to comment this but I'll say it here: I started playing this game at the beginning of this year and I made it to Diamond, mainly using Tracer and I can't thank YOU enough! (No countering btw since I really like Tracer)
Hey Awkward! I'm not finished with the video yet but I just thought of something that would be really interesting video concept. People complain all the time about counter swapping occurring. Which I think it is pretty relevant as it is something that does happen often in my ranks (gold/plat). What if you did an opposite counter swap video? Like instead of counter swapping to the the pick that is considered the best like you did in the video...what if you flipped the script? What if you counter swapped always to the pick that was considered the worst? They start as roadhog? You come out as Winston. They swap to Orisa? You go doomfist. I think that would be a really excellent way to prove your point on how enough practice makes even the unfavored matchups favorable. Key understanding the characters through FUNDAMENTALS is what's going to help you climb. Love your videos. Hope you keep up the awesome content man!
I think it would make more sense to pick the opposite hero counter so you have the unfavorable hero against enemy tank. To prove your point better. Good vid nevertheless.
Well his point was that this already happened in his unranked to gm for example his rein one. He normally plays into counters so he’s doing a new playstyle where he just counters the enemy for fun
Dude it’s not about an individual hero, it’s about the overall comp. If they have doom vs your junker queen, but you have cass sombra Ana, you counter them even though the tank counters your tank
I play Pharah, basically a OTP. I know, I know, feel free to insult me, but I like my lil' lesbiab rocket queen, okay? Now, I often accidentally piss a LOT of people off in both comp and quickplay, so people tend to counterplay. However, I take them counterplaying me as an opportunity to learn how to deal with my counters better, so they still don't kill me.
if i got a doomfist against me i go either ana or junk. just sleep him or place a trap in the middle of the point. he will rush into it and be dealt with
I don't agree with the general statement that counterpicking does not work or means nothing. It sure does, if I accomplish things against a certain matchup better when playing a specific hero than playing another. For example, if I'm DPS and they are playing air units, I'll likely switch from my Mei or Genji to Soldier or Cassidy because FOR ME it is way easier to target air units with a hitscan hero than with slow projectiles. Of course, in higher ranks, where you can assume a higher level of mechanical skill, people maybe can hit air units better than I can do, even with projectiles. But in lower ranks, where all the casuals play, swapping heros if you're not able to compete anymore, it is a reasonable thing, believe me.
Sure the metal rank idea of "go zarya they have dva" is absolutely dumb since high ground for example is the actual defining factor in that matchup. BUT "If the enemy team doesn't want you to play Winston, you don't play Winston" -Bogur for example. Two teams in the same rank can and will utilize the counter picking aspect of the game. It's using the tools you have at meta. You might need to switch since otherwise you would need to put extra effort to make the pick work.
Obvs if you're playing Roadhog against Ana, Zenyatta, Bastion, Sombra and Mauga then it could be a good idea to swap to something that won't get absolutely melted - since it's about getting value and that's hard to do here - but if you're swapping every few minutes just because you think it will be more optimal then you're missing the big picture. It's about execution, having just the *idea* that one tank will be better to play against another isn't enough. Swapping should heavily be based on reading the flow of the game and changing only when you're absolutely sure you'll get higher value on a different character, not just doing so based on the enemy tank's pick. So imo it's definitely a bad habit to counter swap in any case other than one where the game is just completely stacked against you or if you predict (reasonably) that the flow of the game will clearly improve for your team with the swap. Swapping arbitrarily, without a clear vision how the game will improve, does nothing but cause you to get tilted when you lose (as since you're playing more *optimally* then the team must be at fault). Practicing and playing more [in Quickplay] should be prioritised to improve your game sense and strategy against matchups you're scared of.
yes i completely agree you cant just win by just counter swapping, you have to be good at the character to atleast deny the enemy's characters value. Basically justify your swap. PS: i think sigma is like the worst enemy of hog. i am a sigma main (plat) so in my opinion it is possible to prevent hooks by reading the hog's movement and understanding when he is planning to hook. Plus if you are not the one getting pulled, you can grasp some damage by walking into the hog with suck or putting a shield btw the hog and the pulled ally
I tried maining roadhog(never swaping) and it took me 40 losses to understand that this game does not care about fun and you have to counter swap. You can just get countered by a moira, ana + one tank with shield. I got 30 wins though so not bad, considering my supports played the role of dps 50% of the time.
Such a dumb forced mindset. Pretending you don't know what counter picking is and pretending as if it doesn't have any relevancy. It is never 1v1, it's always taking the entire team makeup into consideration, both teams. And your whole argument about "getting good" being the better strategy is null considering that you could just do both. Thus countering will help you build your skills faster with more heros, and once mastered you can complete engagements quicker than otherwise.
Ramatra only counters rein in spirit Practically I counter the player by adjusting my playstyle Sure if you just stand there and take the hits from his nemesis then yeah you'll die but the hammer outdamages nemesis so if you have good healing then you can win
I’m not sure what’s hard to understand. Counter picking a single tank doesn’t guarantee a win. But if I’m constantly running a Rein into an orisa and getting whooped, maybe I should swap to a hero that has abilities that perform better against the other tank. Obviously overall skill still matters. But for players of your same skill set, counter picking can help. Not exactly just tank picking, but even just a tank swap to overall help your team.
To all the people commenting that I should have played the worst matchup, I already have a video on this that shows at the first 5 seconds of the video.
Would be interesting to see a part 2
You should have played tank in that video, but you chickened out and just rolled low rank plebs on damage heroes.

So I spend all match killing their team, while they spend all match trying and failing to kill me.
That's the saddest crap dude. People in comp, not qp, playing 7 heros a round and never getting ult. Then flame you for not countering.
If you're good at the heroes, counter-picking a problem enemy to deny their value is a very real thing up to like GM and above.
sometimes, you have statistics on this? it isn't some rule where you have to swap, it's contextual.
Or do you mean they do swap, but not that often in the same match (which is not true unless some of my games never actually existed and im hallucinating the moment I really seem to get in a match where that happen?)
Help me out a bit please.
Not going to lie, I'm always very flattered when the enemy Tank swaps to Zarya. I believe that means they think my Dva is the "problem." It doesn't usually help them tho, I just stay out of their beam range. But still, flattering.
exactly. most unfavorable tank matchups are solved by just avoiding the other tank. i think it only becomes a problem with heroes like orisa, because they can just rotate all their cds on you and completely remove you from the game, and there's nothing within your power to avoid it on some heroes
you dont do any damage either with dva "outside of her beamrange". Just say their tank was bad
Like entertaining as fuck but he's doing a bit at that point and then uses him almost getting capped on there as an example of how counterpicking wasn't really effective (when you're actively feeding while you have ulti up to swap for the lulz)
Some tanks just need to augment their playstyle to deal with various "counters' others have trouble leveraging any value at all verse certain tanks playing certain ways.
Thank you for coming to my tedtalk.
That said I do find it pretty funny how many people spend half the game swapping while trying to find the perfect counter while just getting rolled on by skill diff and never building up an ulti.

Yeah, i feel like the premise of this video is a little silly… Like what is this supposed to show? You make it sound as if you’re proving something meaningful when really you are just making certain interactions between characters more favorable/simpler… aka counter picking…
If you wanna silence the complaints about counter-picking this is the reverse approach to take… A good example would have been the OPPOSITE of what you are doing, for example: the enemy team has Mauga and Bastion, go Winston and show us how you overcome the challenge of dealing with two characters that can make your kit feel less impactful … that would be a meaningful video because it would do two things… 1. show that when someone ‘counters’ you that just means you have to adjust your decision making to improve your odds 2.

Why don’t people just…play what’s fun for them?
@@morninggloryow because as soon as you have fun the enemy team does everything in their power to make sure you can’t play the game anymore and if you don’t have the skill to outplay 4 counters no fun for you
I don't get the point of this video.
Exactly. Hes a great player but he seems to think that others think 'counterswap = win' when nobody has ever said that. If youre better than the enemy you'll win regardless. If its even, countering makes things much easier i dont think hes a pr*ck i like his videos theyve helped me improve alot, hes just purposefully obtuse on this subject
@@danielmcgrath680 His personality is terrible, it makes him unwatchable.
@@stowlicters8362 Y u here den
@@danielmcgrath680 specifically to wait for videos like these. counter swapping works IN EVERY CONTEXT. And when you're more skilled, it works even better. If the reason he has the opinion he has is that he wants people to get better at the game in general, then say so, be honest about your intentions. Don't lie and pretend like X is objectively better than Y when it clearly isn't. He, using his opinions, would rather that we lose competitive games just to stay one hero "to get better". There are many ways to get better at one hero, wasting your rank isn't one of them.
I love awkward's mocking voice 😂😂
What? Reaper used to counter all the tanks. Reaper was a tank buster.
Reaper is just not good lol
your takes on twitter are right! the haters mad it applies to them
I said forget about it cuh
I tried to learn doomfist in quickplay, and have like 100 total hours in game, and people just leave when i don't swap, and when i say im learning they say "dont care, swap"...in quickplay..
understandable people want to win, but qp is the most unserious, meaningless gamemode, it is made for fun and practice and people act like they're in the overwatch league playing for a hundred grand prize pool
It's. Not. That. Deep.
yeah this video makes no sense
"Countering" must be exhausting OMG how would you even have time to enjoy the Game! i would rather lose than swap every 2 min!
the new editing style is a w
Does anybody denie counterswapping exists?
i laughed 20 times watching this video. ty awkward
YO SNEAKYSQUID I know that guy 😂😂😂 15:20
Lol is it Awkward's MirrorWatch collab?
Thanks for this video, man

Editing goes hard here!

I feel you just skill gapped people and games that seemed stressful to you would have been losses for any player because your team was getting gapped.
If counter picking was the way to win, then, why don’t the pro’s do it? 😉
Ramatra only counters rein in spirit
Practically I counter the player by adjusting my playstyle
Sure if you just stand there and take the hits from his nemesis then yeah you'll die but the hammer outdamages nemesis so if you have good healing then you can win
