    At the start of the show, it mentioned about the linking of genotoxic carcinogens to biscuits. Unsurprisingly, this whole show turned out to be focusing on sugar content instead (which was already talked about numerous times in past episodes). It would be more interesting and meaningful if this show digs deeper into the scientific connection between biscuits and genotoxic carcinogens during the manufacturing process. This is the controversial part where most people don't know and should know more about it. Maybe I expected too much from CNA.

      More often than not, the truth is inconvenient to pursue further. It implicates too many parties of the supply chain. The dark side of food manufacturers.

      it was mentioned at the very beginning right? There's no evidence that the two genotoxic carcinogens can cause harm in humans as long as the biscuits are consumed in moderate amounts

    any amount of hydrogenation basically tampers with and "screws" up the oil. The worst part of this program is that we are unfortunately still thinking starches are fine but sugar is not, when they are basically EXACTLY the same when they go into our bodies. Sugar causes immediate blood sugar rise (bad), starches causes higher glycemic loading, which causes extended blood sugar rise if one thinks it is find because it is "lower GI".

    To simplify reading of the nutrition tables, I often just go to using the per 100 ml or 100g column, then look at what I think are sugars and add them up.
    Sometimes the sugars you know seem low in that table, if so, look at the total carbohydrate line and assume all carbohydrates are sugars instead.
    A secondary check is reading the list of ingredients which they have to list in descending order of weight age - if the top three look like sugars, we'll you get the point

    • @wennw2711
      @wennw2711 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it is an interesting question. There are two types of ice cream in the supermarket, one called ‘ice confection’ which is made up of palm oil and milk powder and the other is the true ice cream that is made from milk and cream. The prior one is understandably cheaper and way more unhealthy as compared to the latter one. If you find 1L of ice cream under 6 dollars, they are almost always the prior one.

    How many "kids" do you know of - that can afford $7 for a 4 pack of cookies ... versus ... getting FREE cookies at home.
    ( kids getting fat - needs to be looked at a bit closer - as it is not the kids' fault - you choose to bring home sugar filled foods )
