    I think towards the second half of the video the whole point of this video deviated. If you say we are looking at healthier options, we should look at the mass manufactured processed bread and into details why they are not healthy. White flour alone does not justify that. The reporter should go to the bread factories like Gardenia or Sunshine and interview the people there to hear what they say about their bread. Emulsifiers, gluten, preservatives - how safe are they?

    If you want real deal with health, it is better to change the menu and not change the food.

    While whole meal bread and multigrain bread might have more nutrients, and might have lower glycemic index, do they have the same amount of total carbohydrates? At the end of it, whether white, or brown, or whole meal, or multigrain, do these all have similar carbohydrate contents?

    Most chocolate in this region is made from cocoa beans, sugar, skimmed milk powder, vanilla (likely artificial), palm oil and often also flavour (to save on expensive cocoa).
    Real chocolate such as the German, Belgian or Swiss chocolate is made from cocoa beans, sugar, whole milk powder, vanilla, and cocoa butter. In the EU it is not permitted to call the above product chocolate.
    It is a highly processed product, this is true. But you should know that chocolate production is entirely a physical process, not a chemical process. This is a big difference.
    No chocolate product can be called a health product. But the first product that I described, the not real chocolate, is one of the most unhealthy products to be found in the entire food market. It promotes diabetes, obesity and heart disease.
    The artificial chocolate causes the throat to become scratchy. It has a warm, unpleasant melt, and a somewhat waxy, smeary mouthfeel.
    Real chocolate provides that certain "satisfactory" feeling even if we only eat a small quantity. It melts pleasantly in the mouth and disappears completely without smeary feeling, and it has a bit of a cooling sensation. Therefore, it does not cause a scratchy throat.

    The processed, soft and sliced "wholemeal" bread is quite awful in taste. Some brands also make their bread look brown by using carmelized or brown sugar so you think the bread is healthier but it isn't.
    The real and fresh wholemeal bread or speltbread is yummy. It goes stale much quicker as there are no emulsifilers and other crap ingredients. Also, it tastes great, is healthier and fills you up for much longer, so I think it is worth spending a bit more if you are going to eat less and be healthier. You will spend less on vitamins and doctors.

    I think that it is slightly misleading to put white bread into the same category as chocolates and maggi noodles, implying that they are equally unhealthy. While white bread as the various experts say contains stabilisers and emulsifiers and goes through some form of processing, just like chocolates, it also contains a lot of nutrients (mainly calcium, vitamin B and iron), as well dietary fibres. Thus, while it can be said that wholemeal is healthier, it should not be said that white bread is unhealthy

      @miloice74 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right its actually a higher satiety than rice and pasta. Issue is too many articles harp on one negative and make it sound like its toxic. People have been having carbs for centuries without issues. The elephant in the house is calories consumption has gone over the roof globally. It boils down to food choices that is satiate and enjoyable without overeating. The spread of calorie dense junk is the key, from soda drink, to fastfood and many so called healthy energy bars and drinks. It creates a habit of eating these regularly which the body doesn't find filling enough.

      In Malaysia and Singapore, pronunciation of English words is quirky. ‘flour’ is pronounced ’flah’. If you pronounced it as ‘flower’, it will be misunderstood as blooms. Likewise, words as follows are mispronounced: three as tree, liaise as liars, divorce as die-vorse, whether as wedder, purchase as per-CHASE, surface as sur-FACE, thorough as TA-rer, through as TROO, thief as tiff, third as Turd etc. moreover, all stresses are on the final syllable, eg, internatioNAL, photograPHER, expenSIVE and telePHONE.

    White flour is robbed of all its nutritional value. It only delivers calories and taste. White flour will make the blood sugar levels peak up quickly.
    Wholemeal flour has fibres and a number of minerals and vitamins. It has the same number of calories, but also a nutritional value.
    A bread with 30 % wholemeal flour should not be allowed to be called wholemeal bread, because the nutritional advantage is very small only, yet it raises the impression in the customer that he is getting something wholesome.
    The main part of the recipe should be clearly above 50 % wholemeal.

      It is evident then that these past 40 years had past by the Americans with nothing learnt due to their...*ahem*.....'physical stature'.....

    • @rh001YT
      @rh001YT 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Thomas Cai Jinzhan Well yes and no. If you are referring to the growing obesity of Americans when you write "physical stature" then yes, it seems they have learned nothing. But actually a lot of Americans are in good physical condition due to good diet and exercise ...we have a lot of gyms and they are well attended. But a whole lot of Americans just eat too much, don't exercise and get fat.
      It is worth considering that there are many races and ethnic groups in America and the extent of their obesity varies with Africans being the most obese, then Latinos and Caucasians are more or less tied, with Asians typically being the least obese.
      On the internet a lot of pics and film of Americans can be found from 1900 to 1960 and obesity was not seen much even though only white bread was available.
      Historically Singaporeans have not been been obese even when only white bread was available.
      So for Singaporeans I have this advice: It does not matter much if you eat white or whole grain bread...the key is to eat very little of it. In general carbohydrate foods should be minimized and meat, fish and vegetables emphasized.
