Dude, I am sure you have already heard this, but, you are the bomb! 2 day's trying to think through how too make box longer. Finally, broke down, googled it. Your video immediately popped up! Thank you for this video! You took time, energy, and editing to help us with no common sense! Your wife was equally smart too have married you! Lol! Great team work friend! Thank you so much!!!
That was the best video on showing how to resize a box. I have a monopoly game that I have not been able to find the right box for and I tried resizing a box but just cut it in half and it wasn't big enough. So now I know how to cut it to the proper dimensions when resizing.
Thanks for this tip, definitely a keeper! Along the same idea, I bought a "Box Resizer Tool with Scoring Wheel" from the major online retailer (also the name of a river in South America). It's been very helpful in resizing boxes. Thanks again!
I’ve been selling and shipping on eBay for over 20 years. And today I learned to use Christmas wrap instead saving all the packaging paper from Amazon shipments.
I mean the free packaging paper is cheaper than wrapping paper, but I think it does add a nice touch that people aren't expecting. Thanks for watching!
@@TheSimpleHaus I’ve been reusing Amazon wrapping paper but I don’t usually have enough. My wife on the other hand buys a ton of wrapping paper on clearance every December 26th haha. So we have a closet full of it. Not for long!!!
How to shorten and make it bigger just a tad for a plant. I’ve got a square cardboard box thick and solid, I want to send an olive plant to my brother in London. Any tips? It’s square roughly 2 by 2 ft I think and it’s solid. The plant is still in it’s pot atm, I don’t want start on the plant yet, I want to do the box first. I will take off the soil and wrap the roots in bit of soil with tissues, then cling film, tape it all round. Want to tape it to the bottom of the box so it doesn’t move on its journey. Lots of branches. The plant is roughly with roots & branches is 3ft. Thank you anyone
Hey making the box wider on all sides won't really be possible, but if it is too wide on one side than the other you can use the method we showed in the video where you flatten it and measure out the widest portion you need which then makes the other sides slightly smaller. To take height off of the top, you just cut down each corner until it is the desired height, the practice folding it shut and figure out how much extra needs to be cut off of each flap. If you don't already live in the UK, you might want to double check their rules about mailing plants. I know seeds and soil are not allowed to be transported from different countries, but I'm sure you already know all of this. Thanks for watching!
@@TheSimpleHaus Yes Tq M in the sticks but still uk. Tq. I’ve shared the video to someone who’s going to help me, he’s gone to get some bubble wrap. What a coincidence you answered. Tq very much. 👍🙂
After starting to sell some of our excess clutter on various places, being able to resize existing boxes was huge! Not having to buy packing materials really helped our profit when we sold things. I don't even want to know how much googling we did when we had to resize boxes. ;) What was the most awkward item you have had to ship?
You could do the steps in reverse, but you might need to cut off extra cardboard from the end that is too long, and then use that to patch and gaps or areas that are too short for instance, the top and bottom flaps would be too short once made wider.
I must be very unintelligent, because I could not follow along on this. It seems so logical and easy while you are actually making the adjustments, but I simply could not wrap my head around the finished product. (Shocker: I was terrible at geometry in school, too.) Nope! My brain is just not capable.
You're definitely not unintelligent! It is sorta confusing, I think the biggest thing is to measure the length and height that you need the box to have and then go by that on the final box doing it on both sides so it can reshape to the size you need. I do hope you get it to work for you. :)

That's for the explanation....I've seen others do it and it was hard to understand. You cleared that up...thanks!

Needed a 20 inch box, only had 16 inch. Googled and found this video. Great directions and hands on instructions, without music! Perfect, thank you.
So glad to hear it helped!! Have a great day and thanks for watching!
You seem to define "music" differently than I do ;)
@@bolzen The music is definitely a little too energetic, but will do better on my later videos in music choice. 😝

Thank you. Great information. ❤

It floored me when you cut the tape and flattened the box. Such a simple, logical way to avoid guessing!
So glad it was helpful!! Good Luck on resizing your boxes and thanks for watching.
Excellent demonstration. One of the better ones I've seen for sure. THANKS! :)

Oh that is genius! I have never thought of using a tool with a scoring wheel. I might need to try that too.

How to turn long skinny box into wide box?
