I always do the same when I resize boxes the only thing I do different is bend the cardboard over the item after I cut up the four corners. BUTTTTT with that fancy shmancy tool it will make my life so much easier!!! So I bought one!!!! I encourage the rest of you to do the same! What a handy tool

The item shipped box is a useful straightedge for the shipping box only if the item doesn't require protective packing. A video showing how to position and score using a straightedge would be useful. Since you'd need a straightedge for most applications -- dimensions of shipping box exceeds size of item in the box -- you could use the blade to score for most applications. How would you fold down the "new" flaps without compromising strength? Thanks, good tip for the application presented.

I already had a craft knife so I just use my sewing tracing wheel with it in place of the specific tool. Handy!!

Yeh or you could even drag the backside of your blade across it lightly. Anything to score it a little.
