Such dynamic control! Her voice enters from and leads off to silence, leaving you sitting there in aching emptiness...
If I only could listen to Sabine live before I die. The fantastic dynamic in her voice! The clarity and so on… I can’t help crying when listening.

Eine wunderschöne Frau bezaubert durch wundervolles demütiges Musizieren, schöner kann Frau diese Arie nicht singen, herrlich!
Une interprétation exceptionnelle : chacun des protagonistes est PRESENT, calmement présent, et développe sa mélodie tout en étant prodigieusement à l'écoute des deux autres (chef compris).
Les ornements sont superbement intégrés aux phrases.
Il suffit, d'ailleurs, de voir dans quelle stupeur sont plongés les membres du choeur et ceux de l'orchestre pour comprendre ce que ce moment capté avait d'unique.
(A mon avis, JS Bach était présent aussi ;) ).
Le plus bel hommage qu’on puisse formuler. Exprimer ce qu’on aurait voulu dire soi-même si on en avait eu le talent. Merci Hélène.

I was there in that concert at Chapelle Royale after a visit to Jardins de Versailles. I was just beside the stage and it's true it was amazing.. When the flutist start the solo and after Devielle start to sing... Thanks Ensemble Pygmalion. Merci Raphael and all the orchestra!
Her voice is glorious in the recording, did it sound better in person? Our recording ability has improved greatly, but there are times when I saw a live performance of a piece I knew well and was left speechless.
Was there a Devielle ? Must have missed her / him. Please please you all, how would you feel changing a couple of letters of your name ? Maybe culpa mea.

The oboe da caccia pair are criminally neglected by the camera crew. They create the atmosphere, especially that haunting dissonant towards the end.

Sabine's Queen of the Night is also stupendous. She is definitely the worthy successor of Carolyn Sampson.
Despite Jesus just shouting every note from their very beginning right to his death this is one of the most beautiful renditions of this passion ever. Please do share the whole thing!

C'est pas sympa pour les autres sopranos ! Il ne faut pas comparer les voix, car il est question de sensibilité, et chacun a ses critères. Sabine est excellente, mais elle n'est pas la seule :)
Personnellement, la voix de Julie Fuchs me touche beaucoup plus, mais c'est bien une question de goût !

What is the name of the Renaissance flute? Is it just "renaissance flute" or does it have some other name?
This would be a baroque flute, not a renaissance flute. Not really necessary to state the "baroque" part, though. (And since it's Bach, the score likely says querflöte.)
