Thats right! Got my one around the same size off the Seacliff pier on 12 pound test many years ago, back when you were still in diapers haha. Took me over an hour to land it
If you shorten your leader, you will have better success setting the hook. Sturgeon are bottom feeders and are not line or leader shy at all from my experience. I usually use 100 lb braid for leader. 12"-18" depending on bait
PS I'll give you a little secret. I heard that they're hitting really good right now in the Napa River. Underneath the highway 37 Bridge use your electronics to find the deep in the bottom look for about 25 foot or so.
Next time no top shot . Braid to swivel to leader. No issues with knot racking the eyes on your rod. I’ve always run 50lb big game leaders. Also try pile worm/ eel combo. Good luck!
All good, bro. The reports I've been getting the sturgeon fishing has been really slow because we don't have No, fresh water coming through the system. Anyways stick with it, bro once you Hook 1 and cook one. You'll see what I'm saying.
Whats up Die Hard. Thats me in the background in the boat. I had a feeling it was a youtuber in those kayaks. I heard you yelling and looked in the binoculars and saw the wings, oh no. I heard the yelling as well when ish hooked up but to much fog to see what was going on. It would be an honor if you checked out my latest video from that spot. Good luck out there!
@@DieHardFishing most guys use shorter leaders also use a little weight on the leader to keep bait on bottom....im no expert on Dino fishing but I learned from some slayers and just use what they use lol
Using a fog machine to hide your spot, I see you 😎
hahaha, you gotta do what you gotta do
Danggg nice batray hahaha. Better luck on the dinos next time
Thanks bro!!!
Bat Rays and Sturgeon feel the same (at least to me). Total "tanks" that peel off line again and again, until you tire the out. Always a great battle.
Mud Marlin can be fun. Glad you were able to get the hook removed.
So easy with barbless!
They do follow you around 😂🤣
Hopefully I can avoid them tomorrow!
Epic fight! Anything that can fight like a sturgeon is fun in my book. Those rays deserve more respect ✊

Yep.
you were on deck, next time you're at the plate ... boost for the fences braddah!
Looking for a hanging curveball, going with the Domingo Ayala power swing
@@DieHardFishing boost it for the scouts🙌🏽
Hell yeah man! Nice fishing with ya, hopefully you hookup on a Dino next time!!! ✌️🎣🦖
Any luck after we left?
Die Hard Fishing slow day for me but I really enjoyed watching you guys catch your fish! Managed a striped bass, leopard shark and a darn smelt

Good for you for getting out there... the cold has got me staying inside as of late...
Can't wait for the days to get longer and the swells to get calmer!

A least you had a great fight. I used to catch lots of Rays while sturgeon fishing in Alviso. U got me excited.
Can't argue with the power of those rays!

Damn bro looks like you can move pretty quick in that kayak. Might have to invest in a hobie!
Yeah, about 4 mph top speed with no wind/current
Man that looks fun!
The tug is the drug!
Fast like a villian 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
First comment!
I like the skunk video on the fish you were going for. Shows it's not the easy. I want to go out for sturgeon also.
Hopefully next time is a success!
You're doing what we do on the Tennessee River for big blue cats. But you're spot is much cooler!
lol, sounds fun!!
And blue cats top at 120 or so and they jump! Great video.
Don't jump
It’s all good, bro! Same thing happen to me at Alviso Slough, but mine was a leopard shark. 😂🤙🏼
Still a nice bycatch!

Sup man! You're killing it out there!!! Hope to see you out there again sometime, hopefully with a Sturgeon in tow
@@DieHardFishing I am going to san pablo bay friday morning. You want to join me on my boat? Let me know, Chris
hey, do sturgeon have wings?????
Plus bat rays are very, very rare here.
Nice!
I think one of my best fishing experiences was catching sturgeon from a kayak.
I have it on the top of my list now!!!
What action/power would you recommend for targeting sturgeon?
Heavy lol
I use an ugly stick tiger I think its rated 50 to 100lb braid and the rod should have a sensitive tip to detect small bites.
Fast action and heavy power!
I like a shorter leader when Dino fishing 18"
Good to know, maybe I'll try that out next time!
