@@herrsavage1508 at least freightshaker how you call it is actually reliable and cheaper to fix. Peterbill prices are through the roof. TBH that automated transition on most modern trucks won't even make it to half of a standard one. Specially with clutch -less shifting. (Yes semis can do that, it actually preserves the truck). Then again all modern trucks are made to break in 10-15 years. I got a Freightliner fld 95 and it breaks a quarter less than the other people on the company

Fast and furious was a 359 they have the flip out anchor points in the bumper below the grille, for pulling it out it's stuck in the mud or something. 379s do not. @jamespumphrey
@@Blownaway1127 he might be a trucker but most have never driven a 359 being that there from the 80s but if you pay attention to detail on trucks you can tell the differ
@Trucker186 it’s a 359 standard hood. They came with 3 different hoods short hood, standard hood and extended hood. In 85 the square headlights were available as an option. 379’s have blinkers on the corners of their headlights (unless they get the delete plate but one can still tell the difference) and the headlight housings are one piece with the brackets. 359 they are separate. 359 had narrower cab than 379 with windshield whippers that operate by air that go from the center of the windshield out. 379 is like the average car right to left. 359 was the ONLY one to have 3 pleats on the top spine of the hood. 379 & 389 have a single pleat. Along with other little differences. I currently own a 1985 359 Extended Hood and a 2013 389. Hmm, I’m surprised he didn’t talk about the 389. They’re just as popular as the 379. And are now discontinued. Btw my 359 has the square headlights, but I’m gonna change them to the dual round setup
RIP Jerry Reed, aka, The Snowman. The Guitar man sure could make ya laugh! But, that was a KW in Smokey and the Bandit. Now that you've mentioned PACCAR, that means you need to do Kenworth, which is both a sister AND a competitor to Peterbilt, and PACCAR which owns the both of them. Then you should do Western Star, the now defunct 'Sterling' brand, White (also discontinued), Navistar-International, and the icon itself, Mack. The truck from Convoy was a Mack RS700L. I actually have seen one of these in person as a self-loading log truck, and it still is in active logging service here in the Pacific Northwest. It makes frequent stops at the DQ where I work in Southern Oregon. While Sterling wasn't a long-haul Class 8 truck, They were very popular for the class 6 and 7 uses, like garbage trucks. Much the same for its twin, the Ford Aeromax, which was a Class 8 Chassis. At the end of their life, when Sterling was owned by Diamler-AG, the Sterling Bullet was built on a Dodge RAM 4500/5500 chassis, making it a very strange looking pickup. The Ford Aeromax, at least, still lives on as a 1/14th scale Tamiya RC Truck, based of the King and Knight Hauler family of RC Trucks from Tamiya. You'll see these scattered across TH-cam, but the Ford Aeromax itself is pretty uncommon. I believe you already did a segment on Freightliner, but they are one of two Diamler-owned truck brands in North America - Freightliner has the largest market share of trucks on the road today, and the other brand, Western Star, has the smallest. PACCAR has a pretty significant market share between its two truck brands, at around 15% market share for each Peterbilt and Kenworth. Volvo-owned brands, Volvo and Mack, are near the bottom of the list. The main reason Mack is so low to the ground is they're primarily used for smaller operations, like Dump trucks. The Mack Anthem, at least as far as I'm aware, is the first long-haul bred Mack to come out of the brand since the Pinnacle family of trucks, and the Pinnacles weren't all that popular. The Anthem, on the other hand, is making appearances everywhere. The chip hauling company local to me had a small fleet of Pinnacles, and they've replaced them with Anthem. While the Pinnacle is still built today, the Anthem is by far the favorite that I'm seeing. The Pinnacle also goes by Mack Vision outside of North America, this is evidenced by SCS Software's old truck games from 18 Wheels of Steel Pedal to the Metal thru American Long Haul calling the trucks by the name 'Vision' even though they couldn't use the actual Mack branding, North America didn't know the truck by the Vision name, so it sort of worked since SCS Software is based out of the Czech Republic.
I see others in the comments saying they want a series on the different semi truck brands and I am 100% on board. Let's make it happen man who points and stares at people dropping logs in the commode
As a driver 99% of the population dont have a clue what we do on a daily basis. I spend 300+ days a year on the road. Drive 10,000-12,000 miles a month. Last year I put 160,000mi on my truck across all lower 48 states. People rely on us to survive from fuel for cars or groceries from the store. But yet we are treated like 2nd class citizens.
now you guys have to do one on every other truck manufacturer. Kenworth, Daf, Scania, Mercedes, Volvo, Freightliner, International, Mack, White, and every other one.

I’d love to see one on Marmon or Mack!
Freightliner would be a good one
Just do it!!
Chris Everett nobody likes Volvo or the new shakers
Optimus Prime was a 379. Do an episode on Kenworth, International ,Freightliner
You mean shiternational and freightshaker?
Optimus prime has been many trucks if you’ve watched more than one movie 😉 just like bumble bee
@@leonardodavila506 Its just a nickname given to them at my shop
Freightliner nation!!
As a son of a truck driver I wanna say thank you for this video!
I love how in every episode of up to speed the car in the background is completely irrelevant
So true
I think it is ok for the car in background to be irrelevant for this vid because they can’t fit a semi in there
OK now you gotta do a video "Everything You Need to Know | Up to Speed" on:
1. Kenworth
2. Mack
3. International
4. Freightliner
5. Volvo
Antonio all of em but Volvo
Volvo, Scania, DAF, Mercedes, IVECO, and so on.
Kenworth is Paccar and Mack and Volvo are the same
International trucks are trash period
Groza Adrian the first three are great
For some odd reason, this got me more hyped than it probably should have (to be fair, I'm a truck driver who drives a 2019 peterbilt 579)
Same lol, but I own a w900l
I drove a 579 for a little over a year, love those trucks. Was hopping to find a good used one to buy for my first truck but found the better deal on a 388
The Peterbilt, used in the Fast and Furious movie is a 1984 Peterbilt 359B with a new paint job.
Edward Wagner Not quite
.
Yes and no look at the lights there 379 lights I call it the 375 because it's a mashup
Its just a 359 and those are not 379 head lights
Definitely a 379.
Lane correction technology almost had me run into a downed tree when I tried to avoid it. That technology is dangerous.
Press the brake
Maybe lane correction technologies should be adapted to enable a manual override when sensors detect hazardous obstacles
@@AmaroqStarwind i take dabs with my Gpen connect while driving and my Lexus 3is basically drives itself

@@bradygiltz5160 Because people get tired, that's why. You ever drive for 13 hours straight?
As a truck driver I can say Donut officially went up 2 ranks for finally making a vid on a semi 🤘🏼
Thank u for hauling America, I prefer trains, but I still respect trucks, they go where trains can't!
I worked at paccar and got to durability test drive the new 579. It's an amazing truck. I've been on the test track in your video. Also... did you know that paccar built the space needle in Seattle Washington?
When you pointed at me poopin I laughed so hard I nearly blew an o-ring
XDD, you a Challenger?
Straight up dropping a log bro. I workout to your videos in the gym and it keeps me entertained while I run and I am literally dropping one when you said that🤣🤣🤣
Fast and furious was a 359 they have the flip out anchor points in the bumper below the grille, for pulling it out it's stuck in the mud or something. 379s do not. @jamespumphrey
You gotta be a trucker who has driven both
It's both look at he lights there square not round
@@Blownaway1127 he might be a trucker but most have never driven a 359 being that there from the 80s but if you pay attention to detail on trucks you can tell the differ
Bet I've driven both, come from a long line of truckers and owner ops. Own my own truck, and it's a 379.
Btw my 359 has the square headlights, but I’m gonna change them to the dual round setup

what about novabus
Jacob Adams don’t forget Volvo VNL and FH16

Peterbilt video is actually super legit. Just shows how cool Donut is.

Been in love with the 379 since first seeing Black Dog at probably 4 or 5. Definitely the quintessential semi.
