- Today on the 6th day of Navratri, I dedicate the song ‘Mamavathu Sri Saraswathi to Devi Saraswati. This is a composition in raga Hindolam by Mysore Vasudevachar.
This video was captured at the 2014 Bengal-ITC SRA Classical Music Festival at Army Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Accompanying me here are B.V. Raghavendra Rao on the violin, Sai Giridhar on the mridangam, and S.V. Ramani on the Ghatam.
*About Aruna Sairam*
Aruna Sairam (Padma Shri) is a Carnatic vocalist, composer, collaborator, humanitarian, and speaker. In addition to her performances in India, Aruna has taken Carnatic music to the global arena, at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. Currently Vice Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Delhi, she was appointed in 2008 by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as Advisor to the Department of Culture. Aruna works towards the musical education of underprivileged students, through the Nadayogam Trust, which she founded in 2011. Aruna is grateful for the training she received under her mother Rajalakshmi Sethuraman and the legendary T. Brinda, and the mentorship from several masters throughout her musical journey. Her music erased geographic borders when she was the first to incorporate Abhang, a Western Indian musical form, into a traditional, South Indian concert.

Madam, with Sarvamangala Mangalye, a vritham like introduction followed by a wonderful rendition of Mamavuthu Sri Saraswathi in the raga Hindolam, i am reminded of my favorite singer late shri Mahavidvan Madurai Somu whose singing attracted me for his soulful presentation of the krithi, Yourself excelled in all facets of the song. Ur svaraprastharam brought tears to my eyes in ecstasy ! Wonderful Maulkons , Also , the streaks of hindustani classical , i could make out. I pray to Goddess Saraswathi to shower her blessing on You . - S Rajamani

Another Outstanding performance by Srimathi.Aruna Ssairam. The three accompanying musicians did their jobs excellently , especially kadam vithvan's fingers memorised me . Really I swayed in the mid air in overwhelming joy.
