05:28 I was a Bush Pilot CFI. If too fast on the flare, you can level it at say 3 feet and cut the flaps to Vx flaps. But hold the nose from dropping hard, On high wingers, the nose tend to drop when cutting flaps. On low wingers, nose tends to raise a bit. That is called "A 3 FEET FLAP CUT". Im the CFI that sent you my old ideo of doing 5 kinds of EFATO and landing with 16 knots tailwind.
I've done that too but going into reverse is a faster way to slow down and once the mains are on the ground you can apply more reverse as needed. Just what works for me.
Way to go Nick! We’re cheering for you!
Have fun flying jumper Nick because it’s so much fun !!!!! Jumpers away in 2 minutes 😀
So that's where my favorite jumpship's been hiding.
👍✅ tks for the jump footage Kerry!
Cool shot of the wingsuiter above the airplane after exit! Awesome!
I'm going to try and get one flying in formation with the Caravan. It's a cool shot!
@@KerryDMcCauley That'd be awesome!
Very cool and cheers to Nick!
Nick's doing a great job. We're happy to have him!
Thanks for sharing all the best cheers
Thanks for the insight Kerry! What hours do you require for caravan pilots?
New pilots need 750 TT to qualify.
@@KerryDMcCauley super cool. That's lower than I've seen other places for turbine positions.
very cool insight into jump ops
The Caravan which I’ve flown in and we beat the jumpers down for another load of fun jumpers and tandems
That's the fun part!
Nick is looking forward for a Hot Meal, a Cold Beer and Peace and Quiet after Flying Jumpers all Day.
Not necessarily in that order!
Hey! I fly Caravans and the stall warner tends to go off in a tailwind if that was the case 🤷♂️
That was probably it, but I've been flying that Caravan for years and that's the first time it's happened.
@@KerryDMcCauleyFair enough mate!
Thanks Kerry , I'd say Nick will be an asset, calm and consistent - ideal for a jump pilot. At least he won't do what the jump pilot did on my one solo static line jump back in the 1980s, and stall-spin the plane out of the jump zone, with two very scared students still onboard, finally getting it straight and level at about 200 feet agl. He didn't fly for them again !
Was that incident at Stanton in Minnesota? Because I know the jumpmaster that was in that plane!
@@KerryDMcCauley Hello Kerry, that was at Tilstock Airfield just south of Whitchurch, Cheshire, UK which has been a skydiving centre since 1964.
@@greenthing99100 Crazy that the incidents were so similar. In the Stanton case the jumpmaster was able to grab one student and throw him out. Then he puller his reserve while inside the plane and was yanked out just before the plane recovered at a VERY low altitude!
You got to dip 🤣,, Dive and flare
Dg going nuts at 13:18
Yeah, that thing is junk.
Haha Brian's reaction, clearly not planned.
Yep, he had no idea I was coming.
That looks like so much fun. Where do I apply?
Flying jumpers is a blast! I've been doing that for over 35 years. It's one of the best stick and rudder flying jobs in the world but you need 750 hours TT to qualify for the job. Most guys start by flying jumpers at a smaller DZ in 182s.
Kerry, how many hours do you have behind the Garrett? Did you follow the Oceanside CA crash June 22. They went to add some power near final and got nothing and the oceanside surrounding terrain left them (pilot & co-pilot) nowhere good to go. Just wondering your opinions on steep decent Garrett ops. blancolirio (Juan Browne) covered it in a YT vid.
I've got 430 hours in the Garrett and I'm very familiar with the Oceanside crash. The co-pilot/instructor used to fly jumpers at my DZ. I've got my own ideas about what happened but can't go into them here.
@@KerryDMcCauley Totally respect that. I'm working on a project using the Garrett and we are keen to know the pain points.
Very cool. Also, it was nice to see the outside view of Nick's landing from your chut.
Glad you liked it. We didn't even plan that shot, just got lucky.
The passenger side gyro seems unhappy 😂
Not at all!
Still the best grass landing area in the world! You got a pond yet?
Not yet, but never say never!
More jumping videos Mr Kerry
I've got some good stuff on the way!
You should rise that Runway. Just saying ...
Whish I could!
