On the other side, no other champion can build so many different runepages and items and be extremely useful in all of them. Sure, it takes time to master all the different playstyles, but man is it rewarding to do so. Love your videos man, you deserve more recognition
Having all that choice also makes his skill ceiling even higher, since you have to judge which build best suits the situation, and master each playstyle

@@minimoYT Also, Azir is a jack of all trades, can and needs to adapt to different situations, so not only micro but also macro will be A LOT harder on him since he will have a lot more options
taric jungle has more items he can go, but i dont know of any other champ that can build more different items then azir, maybe ezreal

Good info on why Azir is tough to play. One huge thing you didn’t touch on is to play Azir at anything other than a basic level you must use attack move to use his autos properly. Also his cooldowns are pretty long early.
Yeah, I could have elaborated more on that, but imo using attack move is easier than right clicking on top of people. It's one of the shared difficulties Azir has with most adcs
I love that Katarina example because its so freakin accurate. Katarina literally cant do shit in lane against Azir. Azir abosutely dominate the lane. You can say a couple times to your team mates that she will roam, you can spam ping them and yet they will die every single time to Katarina and flame you for not following her roam. Like it doesnt even make sense to follow. You are already extremly ahead, the enemy cant lane against you, so she has to roam and now the part people dont understand. If they back off from their lane the Katarina that NEEEDS TO SNOWBALL cant snowball thru roams which makes at some point as much worth as a minion and an overfarmed plates taking hyperscaling Azir in exchange for 1-2 minion waves in bot lane. The issue is that those monkeys in the bot lane cant stand that they are not the main carries every single game. They rather int than let anyone else carry.
I still think that bot laners have a hard time looking at the map because they're fighting and trading all the time, and a lot of the time, they can't stop the bleeding because junglers usually prioritize ganking them.
That said, PLEASE TWITCH LISTEN TO THE PINGS YOU'RE UNDER *THEIR* TURRET AND YOUR SUPPORT IS BASING
Big azir ult is not always good.
Sometimes, you have to just auto the enemies rather than going for the shuffle flash ult (you stopwatch and dies afterwards). Azir ultimate is like an inferior orianna ultimate, but easier to hit with higher risks involved. It's easier to hit because shockwave cast time is too long.
Most of the time Azir's ult is self-peel rather than engage, since he doesn't *need* to go in, it's just one of his options
I dont know if its easier to hit, Azir ultimate is very slow too, it can get flashed/dashed before it hits very often or even just runned out with some movespeed

@@wladynoszhighlights5989 In some cases, Orianna ult is much easier to hit. Put the into an engage champion: Lee sin, Hecarim, mumu and you get an easy ultimate.
And there's more to take into account, because of his ult, Azir is good to get picks, or push laners into our junglers who are coming to gank. Something I realized is that you need to be aware of how strong your jungler is and what type of jungler (talking from low elo) cuz... Ive killed my own junglers trying to engage 🙃🙃

I always imagined it’s because azir damages build up. They don’t all hit you in one go. And fights usually don’t last that long.
That’s also true, a lot of his DPS is gated behind having 3 soldiers on the field, which takes a while unless you stack ability haste

I think Azir like every champ need just practice. I play Azir for two years and i am feeling always confident when I play him. Nice video :).
I have to agree, I've been maining him for 2 years as well, to the point that he's my comfort pick. I'm still getting used to the new playstyle, though
Same thing here been playing for 2 years but I'm still unable to master his skills. You need a good team with proper builds, tough ones and a good crowd control. Its always been a win situation. But I still felt like I'm a rookie playing him.
azir truly is one of the most difficult champs, mainly because of how unorthodox he is compared to the other champs, kinda like hes the yoshimitsu of league (shoutout to any t7 fans)

Getting to know how to play azir's many playstyles is handy and very good, but this meand playing only him to learn all of that and sucking at all other champions that are not azir.

Azir is a champion who has to build an on hit item and yet he can not use on hit effects that paired with that fact he cant use most auto attack runes dispite using auto attacks

I think that his E's shield is totaly pointless it's not like it has a tiny knockup as he had before, his E feels useless tbh, I just wish it could dash through enemies, and it's not like champions with more damage and simmilar dashes exist.
I think his E is what makes him so safe in lane, it's not like most mages where you can throw a 1000 range projectile and retreat, you have to autoattack from mid-short rnge to trade effectively, so the dash is what lets you trade aggressively and escape a possible gank.
The shield is small, but it's not entirely useless, you can use it to body-slam a Yasuo/LeBlanc/Zed when they jump you, and the shield makes you win quick trades against them
Not a "difficult" champ considering the leveling of the champ is the same as any other, i'm not level 5 yet and have a pretty good grasp.
(though the shurima shuffle/moving trough walls etc remains to be studied hehe..)
STILL .... a fucking beautiful champ, one of the best designed champs in the entire catalog imo.

Azir right now is not worth it. The amount of champions that outdamage you, have dashes all the time and even outrange you (looking at you senna) is not worth your small range advantage.
Azir needs a rework. Either bring him back his passive on ult that knocks back conventional dashes, or increase range on his soldiers.
Or maybe think of new way of scaling for the range, so that he isnt too opressive in lane but in late game his range is bigger than now
Imo Azir's kit is fine as it is, the only thing I'd change other than quality of life changes is increasing the summon range for the W, so it'd be a bit longer. Right now you have to step up very close to danger to attack people without burning the Q right away
any champ is worth playing if you have fun playing that champ

IMO Azir isn't "hard", he is harder than a lot of other champs but a few weeks and you can do pretty okay on him assuming you have the fundamentals of League down. I think his problem is this; There are 3 stages to a league game, laning phase, mid-game/skirmish phase and late game/teamfight phase. Azir is pretty good at 2 of the 3. That being laning and teamfighting, the issue is his skirmish power is pathetic because his W damage HAS to be bad. This is because his poke is long range, remarkably consistent, and oppressive in lane so if he did okay damage mid-game, his laning damage would be off the charts due to AA Q AA being so quick and easy to hit. For example, you said that his damage was bad then showed 80 damage an auto, Don't forget that a basic combo of 2 AA and 1 Q means roughly ~200 damage at that stage and its basically undodgeable. If you wanted to make Azir the same/worse in lane and make him a better skirmishers, you would have to basically remove his Q damage altogether and make the CD waaay lower. However, I don't think this is what makes Azir bad/hard. I think it's the players who play with him, almost no one understands that if you walk out of Azir soldiers, he does nothing. And that "YoU cAn MoVe ThE SoLdIeRs WiTh Q" comment makes no sense if you just play him for 1 game, move all your soldiers away, then get 1v1 by yuumi cause you have no soldiers and Q is on a 10-sec cooldown. The amount of times I am 2v2 with jungle and he just... walks away from me and my soldiers, dies 1v2 then pings is insane. This is why he does so much better in higher elos and pro play. I find Azir is actually waaay better toplane since you can run Conq or First strike and basically scale for free and not have to worry about roaming at all. Not to mention with Azirs R he can outplay a lot of obnoxious toplaners such as Trynd and Darius. The only issue is, no front line if you are top and can mean an AP-heavy team.
TL;DR Azir is bad cause mid-lane is a roam and skirmish-orientated lane but Azir is arguably one of the worst champions in the game for this aspect both in terms of kit and player base knowledge (ESPECIALLY after lethal tempo rework/nerfs).
Beautifully written. I also believe that a good part of his difficulty comes from a weak mid-game. However unlike someone like Kindred, his skirmishing power early on is also pretty weak, since the Q and E are on such long cooldowns, while Kindred, for example, can just keep kiting away
@@minimoYT You hit it on the head in the video, Azir is in a weird spot because unlike ADCs he cant do anything when he has no CDs. Kindred, vayne, darius, lucian, tristana; all these champions can do something after they use their abilities, Azir can pray to the sun disk that they decide to just kinda stand around in his soldiers while everything is on CD. And people talk about soldier placement, I think Q usage is 1000x more important. Placing a soldier wrong will net you less damage or a slower push, use Q the wrong way will get you 100 to 0'd and flamed.
Azir support might be the intended way to play him:
Capability of making the enemy ADC unable to farm, good poke damage, can easily set up kills for his ADC (and defending him if needed) his kit is literally made to be a support, hes not even good in midlane (in most situations, i know there are matchups where Azir dominates)
He's easy, get movement down by q'ing early after e your mind will fill in the time gap after awhile once you got muscle memory down you after 2 weeks of play you dont need to think about it shuffle done easy then he plays like every other mage cept you can split push with passive reliably i reccommend not doing it without zonyahs in side lanes also pushing down with top laner 2 0 3 can be devistating cause they need 3 or 4 to beat you
Mechanically I'd say he's more difficult than most mages due to having to play fights like a weird autoattacker. Mages can often hit one CC, kit dump from ~800 range and stay back while waiting for cooldowns. Azir needs to stay within ~675 range and stop to auto frequently to deal damage. Nowadays I'd say he's easier than when the video was made, since he scales better, but he's still very weak before 2 items and can't bully people in lane anymore (other than Pantheon)
@@minimoYT yea but late game champs are not hard, any early game weakness it made up by teammates who majority will play early game champs most enemy teams will not be happy if you shove em into a aatrox

In my expirence the hardest champions in the game are skillshot reliant like taliyah. Taliyah HAS to hit everything so she is outclassed by everyone who does not have to hit everything in fact she is only good when her damage is busted or shes played in pro's
Ive never gotten flamed for not following a fuken katarina in river but im sure gonna taste it....just like when junglers complain at minion wave not being good for gank and mid wants gank never understood it untill today
Azir can be fixed with one buff: add his Q a second charge.
That would make his poke too strong, though, unless the damage was also drastically reduced

Considering that he's a mana-hungry control mage with marksman micro and very low stats, I honestly think he's way up there.
We just played him enough that a lot of the soldier positioning and mechanics became second nature, but objectively speaking, he's one of the harder champions in League

Azir really sucks. Like real bad. He's not worth playing. Think of it like this. Illaoi deploys tentacles on spot and will just wipe a team. Heinerdenger will drop turrets and they will always do more damage than your azir. He's a cool concept but overall useless squishy and does low dmg
Azir's damage is rather low, but heimerdinger's turrets can be destroyed, Illaoi's tentacles can be dodged, and they're both immobile. Azir having low damage and being squishy is the counterweight to him having good range, and being super safe
@@minimoYT he needs more damage to be a decent champ. His range is meaningless if it doesn't do any damage. Especially late game. And his soldiers don't last long enough
His early damage is low. He is a scaling champion. He needs some levels and items to be effective. Once he gets lost chapter he has kills pressure with ignite.

Its not hard, its usless. No instant dmg, no instant cc, no instant mobility. Literally usless champ
He does have instant damage, though, non-projectile ranged autos with up to 700 range

So I'm not really the most qualified person to teach how to play Azir on the fly, most of what I say in videos is a product of research and compiling experiences from both myself and high elo Azir OTPs.
