    It helps the flow, I usually take a whole saw and punch out 10 holes, just to help keep out the bigger debre out. Glad to see someone else is doing the same. Good video. Mark/ Macias Diagnostics LLC.

    I'm pretty certain the sensor in the front behind the grill is an air temp sensor for the digital outside Temp display. My 05 doesn't have the overhead temp display and it does not have the sensor either, just a plug for the sensor.

    I have a06 F 450 with 134k miles that spun a main bearing and I get mixed suggestions on what to do some say have to replace the engine or rebuild it from top to bottom and others say replace the crank and bearings and possibly the cam and bearing and the rest is fine not sure what I should do

    Good afternoon 6.0 doc I have an 2005 6.0 and I just changed the water pump and degas cap but my truck keeps over heating about every week it use to be every 3 days because of the old water pump I have been hearing that it maybe the heahgasket. If any one can share some knowledge on what else it might I would greatly appreciate it. It doesn’t leak any coolant at all. Thank you.

    Welcome back and congrats on your little one!!!.... Would it be safe to assume this mod wouldn’t be recommended for off-road? Seems like the risk of water ingestion would drastically increase.

    • @powerstrokecustomsllc1942
      @powerstrokecustomsllc1942  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Justin E the filter housing has a 3/4 inch hole in the bottom under the filter element so any heavy water such as rain would drain. Water getting sucked in would increase power to a point. Kinda like water meth injection. It’s not like gas engines. But if you plan mud bogging or going through some river with the truck you might clog the filter up just as you would with the stock filter. Here in Washington we have heavy rain and snow and never had issues.

      @@powerstrokecustomsllc1942 I think they call this the zoodad mod I seen this like 5 or 6 years ago. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't water meth go after the cold charge pipe? And if you cut a hole in this where you did then the water would go straight into the turbo making rusty corrosion on the turbo vains. Right?

    • @powerstrokecustomsllc1942
      @powerstrokecustomsllc1942  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      L C negative. The filter is oiled. Oil will stop water and repel it. So you won’t get much water going through the filter. Turbo vanes are on exhaust side of turbo not intake. You have an aluminum compressor housing and compressor wheel that won’t rust and are constantly pulling oil from the valve cover. I did this mod back In 2008 and still don’t have issues with rain or water. On the comparison vid you can see the hole in the bottom of the air box. Factory air filters don’t have drains. Both banks and s&b air filter systems do.

      YOU ARE AN IDIOT, TURBO DIESEL SUCKS IN SO MUCH AIR IT WILL SUCK WATER. WATER ALONE WILL NOT INCREASE POWER. YOU SHOULD CUT IT DOWN LOWER. IT WILL GET AIR NOT WATER.

    • @powerstrokecustomsllc1942
      @powerstrokecustomsllc1942  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Taschuk ever heard of water meth injection? Water will cool intake air temperature, and make air more dense therefore giving you more power. Do your research.

    • @davetscantech
      @davetscantech 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I have but that’s a engineered system, not rain water/dirty road spray going through the paper air filter. Back in my Mustang 5.0 days I had a ram air under the bumper and it worked great but it wasn’t a direct line into the air filter
      No need to get cranky, this IMO is a bad idea, what happens when the air filter gets saturated with water?

    • @powerstrokecustomsllc1942
      @powerstrokecustomsllc1942  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dave Taschuk I live in the rainiest state in the country. The 8 years I’ve been here I’ve never had any damage from this modification. The banks super scoop does the same thing. And these filters are not low to the ground. The filter is oiled which will actually repel water. A gas mustang is a completely different animal. Of course this mod would probably kill your mustang. But not these Diesel engines. By the time water gets by the filter if any and gets compressed it’s mixed with heat which is around 400 degrees. Then put through the intercooler. By the time it makes it into the cylinder it would be in gas form and much less then a water meth injection is.

      We live on Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada, gets pretty rainy here.
      I just don’t want water going through my paper air filter and going into my inter cooler, so let’s agree to disagree, I choose not to do this.

  • @dLikesDDs

    • @markgeletzke6328

      Not true, I did this mod to my 05 6.0 back in 2007 and I have no issues with water. The truck lived most of life in California where the rain would blow sideways..Never once an issue, I ran an outer wear on my Banks Ram Air filter long before Banks decided to make their own..

      Isn't it more for colder intake air temps and not so much for any perceived ram air effect?

    • @dLikesDDs
      @dLikesDDs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blakeveit2061 in theory yes....but if you know 6.0s you'll know that little hole isnt going to make much of a difference with how much heat is under the hood, the turbo alone heats up the air. i can guarantee if you take an intake air temp reading before and after it wont be anything worth the hassle for a daily driver, full on race truck then maybe
