AUDIE MURPHY'S first role I believe. James Madison and Audie went on to make some good westerns, loved them.

A wonderful fairy tale like film. Diana Lynn and Guy Madison keep in anchored in real modern life. The three sisters, one of which is Margarett Hamilton, (no pun intended), is so good in this role, I'm always been a fan of hers. This is my favorite role for Florence Bates.The sequence of her teaching the 'girls' to play poker is top notch, and she plays it very well indeed. (pun intended). Mr Kublian's emporium is both delightful fantasy and comedy rolled into one, and if you're a fan of British Comedy you'll find it greatly influenced this sequence. The bar keeper as a narrator does a fine job. So too do all the actors in minor rolls. Good actors all in this film. There's just a lot of good stuff in this movie. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did., even half as much, you'll like it a lot.

I really thought that was Broderick Crawford as the Desk Sargent Officer on the phone at 1:12:40, but the IMDB page about this movie is not clear about who that is, and Broderick Crawford's IMDB page does not mention him appearing in this movie, so who knows?
The actor is Dewey Robinson. He played often bouncers, convicts , henchmen...

Guy Madison is a great looker but a lousy actor; Diana Lynn, dead young, was a cutie and Florence Bates, the con artist, is one of the great character actresses of all time. (Moyna Magill, one of the harpies or call them what you will, is Angela Lansbury's mother.) It looked to be Audie Murphy as the copy boy. And there you have it!
I agree with you about Mr. Madison: handsome devil but wooden as hell.

Has its charms, but it's edited so choppily it's insane, and the characters' motivations are nonsensical and zigzagging. But it's fun enough - and short enough- to just go with. Supporting cast is great, the lead actress is cute as a button, real charm. I started watching because I like "Till The End of Time", was on TCM tonight and I find Guy Madison so beautiful, despite his dreadful acting. It's even worse in this film, just amazing how bad he is. (But he acknowledged this in some news item from 1948 or so, and said the character actors in this film really did the hard work, he was humble. Apparently they showed this in San Fran doubled with some other bomb and called it "The Worst Films of the Year" and it sold out, likes around the block, so it's nice to know even in 1948 they like a so-bad-it's-good campfest, laughing at the screen.) Madison still looks good, but thinner and sort of more effeminate than you'd think, I'd swear he lisps a bit at points. Which is fine, great!

This movie is good, but it’s a little slow the first 1/2 but when they run the rides it’s really funny. The 3 sisters are entertaining. If you like old movies this is one to put on the list to watch.

"Of course there is enough larceny in me to keep me attractive." Most often absurd movies from Hollywood fall flat. This one, by surprise, is funny and entertaining. Lynn is a delightful talented actress. She had one misfortune, and that was to appear in "Bedtime for Bonzo" with an actor who was dumber than the ape in the film. At the end "There's a limit to how far we can go. --Why?"
Ah, Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It is just next door to the best unknown museum in New York which is is the Brooklyn Museum and probably explains why it is unknown. Visit the great museum and the lovely Japanese Garden nearby.

Audie Murphy looked so young and innocent there. So I checked and based on the date given for this film, he'd already served.
It's nice to watch a movie that does not take itself seriously, but still has a fun story line.

Farmersville, Texas close to Greenville still has a parade named after Audie Murphy
In 1999 my dad and the VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars post he belonged to helped send out a petition to be signed to have a U S postage stamp in Audy Murphy's honor. It was approved October 4 1999 and issued in May 2000 sadly my dad never got to see it he passed away July 12 1999. My dad had a very large stamp collection I regret not getting one of the First day of issue stamps for his collection to put with the copy of the petition. I'm from Dallas and have been to the museum in Greenville and have seen an exhibit they have in Oklahoma off Hwy 35. There are so many movies that actors and actresses never made it into the credits because they played such a small roll like amn extra. Audy Murphy was given credit for this small part 14th in the credits but he's listed. I enjoyed this movie I had never seen it before then to see so many stars was a bonus.
