Displacer beasts are awesome. Dungeon Cast are so cool, thanks for making so many videos about the vast variety of creatures and their lore in dungeons and dragons.
Does anyone remember the displacer beast reference in Adventure Time? There was this big talking cat with tentacles Finn encountered in a dungeon, except it’s gimmick was it had “approximate knowledge of many things”. So instead of appearing just off from it’s actual location, it called Finn Frank.
I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the feyline dungeoncast! Good...morrow milords. I'm sorry I can not provide any witty banter, nor can I put your gracious gift of knowledge about displacer beasts to use, and slay their wicked kind. I-I can't move. I'm stuck in the under dark. The fomorians eyes saw me. My body...so much pain.nothing feels right, I can not move. Till next week milords. *the paladin lays still and deformed, his armor bent around his deformed body, amongst many giant corpses laying still in the darkness of the subterranean realm* Ah, thanks for another episode guys.I remember displacer beasts from baldurs gate dark alliance. The first place I ever saw them. In that game they laired in ice caverns in the sun set mountains. They turned straight up invisible. Also, blink dogs are cool. Not much else to say except I noticed the episode number. In a couple weeks we got the big 200 coming up, can't wait to see that weeks episode! Have a good day will and Brian.
OMG this episode is too damn funny! Also, you guys made a really valid point about how risky the traveling merchant profession is for those in the D&D multiverse. I respect those chonky sole proprietors hustling wares for those who have coin.
About the 0 movement thingy. If it can't move you always know where it is, so it's not about it stoping to project the image, it is about not making a difference. Just picture it under the grapple of a barbarian and you'll always know that, even if it seems that the barbarian is holding nothing, atacking between their arms will always guarantee a hit.
My Friend tends to say that "D&D 5E is more Combat Focused, and Pathfinder 1E is more Story Focused." I Disagree completely. The more I Learn about 5E the less I believe his statement to be true. Though I do give a point to Pathfinder for it's complexity in Multiclassing, Huge variety of Feats and Skills, And Depth and Breadth of Combat Mechanics. What 5E lacks in variety it make up for in accessibility. Not to say either is better or worse. (I love that you guys always drop the perfect video when I'm researching. I was Literally just writing on my campaign and looking for a Good Monster for a low level plot point/Mini Boss!) Love Brian's ideas, I don't know how he comes up with it so quick!) Sorry for the Essay!
I just finished the moonshae trilogy and within the story Bhaal created a Displacer Beast, an Owlbear and a flock of Preyton, out of the mismatched animals that had fallen into the Darkwell. (Which was essentially a pond where Bhaal resided while he was gathering strength to enter the material world)
Dire just means dreadful or terrible, so it’s basically just used to describe something being more dangerous, and what better way to make a creature more dangerous than by making it bigger?
OwO I find this SO useful. My DM recently dropped a displacer beast kitten on our party after it imprinted on my character and this helps me figure out how to take care of it
dire variants have more exaggerated predator features like longer fangs and claws, or horns and spikes where there were none, as well as the larger size and stronger stature. I never considered a disease, but it fits. what if dire scrag? what if you could tame the aberration blossoming of displacer beast tentacles sprouting before it affected their mind? magical collar that prevents it from spreading?
Newish to your channel, I have just finished watching the Asmodeus ep. 86, and a question came to mind. If say Bahamut couldn't beat Asmodeus on his home turf, could a wish spell, worded correctly blink him from existence? Seems OP but is it even plausible? Thanks.
Displacer Beast & Manticores my favorite monsters especially when you bump up the INT and give Manticores proficiency in insight so they can talk smack to the players mid combat.
Yes, the mechanics of fourth edition were abysmal. I was under the impression I was paying for D&D and what I got was WoW with blatant cheese and horrifying mechanical exploits. I get the idea of "3.5 was slow, so let's speed this up," but that was an obscene overcorrection.
Fun fact about the tentacle, they resemble the barbs on a cats tongue. So imagine a displacer beast grooming with its tentacles.
My god, they would do that...

The merchant class in Octopath was surprisingly cool.

I came to learn about Displacer Beasts ... and I left shook from Will emoting right at the camera during the first 10 seconds of the video.
Yeah been waiting for a good reason to go for a walk :-) hope you guys are doing well

Time to fill my haunted woods with displacer beast
20:09 brian became a displacer beast

All I want now is a BBEG with an army of displacer beasts and is actually just Joe Exotic.
Karol Baskins killed her husband whacked him.
Such a cool monster! I like cats too so there might be bias.

My black cat is named Shantu after the Displacer Beast in that Forgotten Realms novel.

There's 45 minutes of lore for displacer beasts?
Imagine a pack of blinkdogs wielding mouthpick weapons lead by a pissed off druid whose sacred grove you've just desecrated.
Ah yes, my favorite aberration: the walking rare cloak.
Echo is gonna find a zoo with a exhibit marked: displacer raptor
Good thing I didn't displace my phone before this released
My position in the ordining of puns is displaced. You beat me because I typed to slow.
One more pun and I'll displace someone's spinal column
@@laegu5430 No need to act like a beast in dis place.
Sorry I doubt you can catch me in order to do that. Better *whip* yourself into shape quick.

My DM gave my Assimar Paladin Nyx a Displacer Beast kitten as a pet. Her name is Hester. She also has a Tressym named Horatio.
I can't wait for my players to meet dancing devils fighting dangerous demons in hell

Displacer beast vs manticore vs chimara who wins
Not to be that guy, but Speak with Animals wouldn't work since Blink Dogs are Fey, not Beast. Tongues, however would work just fine.
