    Empyreans have a bit more lore in the eberron setting. Basically, the giants lived on a continent called xen’drik in a long passed age. The giants became very proficient with magic and did whatever the frick they wanted. They were getting attacked by these dream spirits from this dream plane.
    Important: all the planes in eberron (13) have a corresponding moon that orbits the planet of eberron.
    The giants wanted to not deal with these evil dream spirits anymore... so they blew up their corresponding moon, making interplanar travel to the dream plane or from there impossible.

    The DMG states on page 11:
    Titans are the divine creations of deities. They might be birthed from the union of two deities, manufactured on a divine forge, born from the blood spilled by a god, or otherwise brought about through divine will or substance.

    I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the empyreal dungeoncast! Greetings again good lords of knowledge and laughter! It's always a magical time of the week when we are blessed with another gracious boon of knowledge. These empyreans sound like grand beings. I wonder if I'll ever meet one, wether it be with a good one, or one of more tyrannical leanings...
    As for ogre mercenaries, an ogre merc mis an ogre all the same! They'll be slain with the rest of them! This knowledge could not have come at a better time, for we've been receiving reports from neighboring villages of organised attacks by very large monsters. Very large crossbow bolts were also found left behind in the smoldering ashes of one of these villages. It looks like I'll have to hire some mercs of my own to take down these brutes! Till next time milords! I'll be bringing you offerings of ogre heads!
    Another week another glorious episode. Thanks again as always boys. I don't have much else to talk about, so have a good day alright?

    I hope the next big lore sourcebook for 5E is one that tackles the outer planes and more specifically the upper ones, while the chance of having the more good alligned creatures of the upper realm be your bad guys I think that the opportunity to add and use some awesome celestials and the like to be challenges and tests for the party could be a nice change from the doom and gloom of devils and demons. Thanks for another great episode Will and Brian much love from the EU crowd.

    The Empyrean sounds like WotC’s way of revamping Titans to be something more unique than being a slightly bigger Giant with a higher CR. I like the idea of the Titan, but they never had much going for them lore wise beforehand, so it’s nice seeing them get some development.

    "Titan" was introduced in 5e as a category of quasi-deities.

    • @brycekirkland9779
      @brycekirkland9779 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Specifically they are constructs. Astral Dreadnoughts, Atropals, and Krakens are called Titans in their stat block and in 5e lore they are all explicitly created by the deities except for krakens which were the deities warriors. The other that is a titan is a Tarrasque from what I could find.

  • @epiccthulu

    The reason there are no titans in 5e is because in the Forgotten Realms setting... the titans were given Albier, Toril’s twin. There r no gods on Albier so there is no Weave for mortals to draw magic from. The titans/dragons/Primordials rule over the natives there... like the Dragonborn who are natives there. Though some of them were transported to Toril during the Spellplague. The Brimstone Angels series eventually covers titans. The dragonborn were transported, not the Titans. And again you don’t go to Albier because there is no Mortal magic without The god made Weave

    So since empyreana are children of the gods and quasi-deity born of mortal and divine parents.A empyrean and demigod could be half siblings, also if a empyrean has a child with a mortal does that make the child a assimar or divine sorcerer bloodline having a grandparent who a deity.
