    I am the PROUD owner of a Taurus G2C. This firearm is something to brag about because you're getting the reliability, accuracy (if not better), structural integrity and compact design of a Glock 26, for a fraction of the price. I trust this gun with my life every day. The price of the G2C and good reviews makes a lot of people believe "its a good gun for $200", NO! Its a good gun PERIOD! Taurus is not the same conpany it once was. They are making sure that everyone can afford a good reliable defense weapon. I dont have $600 for a Glock (or equivalent) So Taurus made damn sure to provide me with one I can afford. Hats off to Taurus for manufacturing a dependable, reliable and accurate firearm that I can trust and afford.

    I bought the G2C as a beater gun that I could just replace if it got lost or stolen without batting an eye. Lo and behold, it has become one of my favorite guns! I shoot better with it than most of my WAY more expensive guns. For kicks and giggles, I installed a Lakline stainless guide rod and the stainless striker guide and springs. I also put in a Keep Tinkering trigger. I take the barrel out, drop a round in the chamber, reinstall the barrel, put the muzzle down on a table, and press down on the back of the slide until the lip of the cartridge snaps past the hook of the extractor. Reassemble and carry in DA mode just as you would carry a revolver. Manual safety not needed. It has been 100% reliable and I love it!

    Thumb safety:
    I prefer to carry with one in the chamber. Many accidents occur when putting the gun in the holster. I love the thumb safety because I can set the safety, holster the gun, then unset that safety. I can eliminate that chance of shooting myself in the leg, but still be ready for trouble.

      This gun has similar internals to a Glock. I carry a glock in some fashion every waking hour of my life. As long as your finger is off the trigger, there should be no risk of an accidental discharge without the thumb safety. There is absolutely zero need for a thumb safety on this gun. Just an extra fine motor skill to worry about in a situation where fine motor skills are the first to go out the window.

    The G2C is my personal carry weapon. I bought one as a cheap "toy", then I realized I REALLY liked it. I have just crossed 10k rounds through mine.
    When using "Winchester USA Forged" rounds, I have had several failures to eject. like 6+ in a 150 round box.
    Not counting the "USA Forged" I have had 3 failures to eject out of the 10k rounds.

      @@ajjohn8729 I run 9mm 115 Gr Brass FMJ like it's going out of style. She has yet to have a single issue with it. I carry it with JHP rounds, but I'm researching quite heavily the lighter JHP hard barrier penetration findings, and I may just carry those light 115 Gr FMJs. If you hit a sternum, or really even the lighter parts of a car or its windshield, JHP in any of the calibers 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP all have some difficulty penetrating. Sternum is like a little piece of light body armor; very tough little bone. .357 Magnum suffers very little from any of these concerns, but you also get at most, 7 or 8 rounds, reloading is slow even with speed strips or speed loaders (For me) and prepare to drop a bit of coin for a nice .357.

  • @kingbaldwiniv5409
    @kingbaldwiniv5409 5 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    I have to tell you, I have nothing negative to say about the g2c.
    I prefer having a manual safety, because I know whether or not my pistol has one. If somebody is able to get my pistol from me or from my storage location, I remember a manual safety on my manual of arms, they might not.
    I've had mine for 3 years, the only misfires that I have had have been with a ProMag piece of garbage magazine. Every Taurus mag has performed perfectly well.
    I put a different trigger boot in to make it more robust. I put a stainless steel guide rod and new recoil spring in.
    The finish is no worse than the finish on my Gen 4 Glock 20, which admittedly is not very good.
    The pistol fits in my pocket and carries 12 rounds. Since it uses Sig P226 magazines, I can always make the capacity greater.
    If the pistol keeps performing well, I may take it over to Robar here in the Phoenix area and have them put some new protective finish on the metal in order to see just how long it'll last.
    One other benefit is that since I have big hands, I can actually put a full mitt on this pistol.
    The G26, Sig 365, and other metro-micros can't claim that, and the G2C does it at 40-30% of the price.
    Cost benefit analysis says that Taurus did a great job!

    The Taurus Spectrum also has double-strike capability like the G2C. It's pretty unique to the Taurus pistols, I think. It's not a bad trigger - it just takes some getting used to - both on the G2C and the Spectrum .380 sub-compact. I have both, and once I got used to the triggers, they're actually pretty decent pistols, and yes, they're in the budget category, but both of mine have borne out to be reliable as the day is long. PT111 and a G2C here. 3300 rounds through the 111, 1200 through G2C, the only hiccup was with Winchester Forged Steel case, donated by a friend who bought a box and hated it, and my pistols hate it.
      Going through a number of reviews, it's not an uncommon issue with that ammo. Fortunately, only 6 of the 75 rounds hung up, and now that they're used up, that'll be the last time I chance them.

    We ♥ the G2c!! Bought one a year or more ago and never had a failure with it. Then a month or two back, Rural King had them for $189 and Taurus was running $25 mail in rebate. We went to get the old lady one and I ain't never been good at passing up a good deal, so we ended up rolling out of there with 2 of them. In the end we had right around $350 invested. Got my eye on the Smith /Wesson M and P Battleworn 40 cal. right now. Firearms can be addicting and that's a fact!! 😂 Lol.

    I have 2 G2C .9mm, and I must say I love them both. I have run over 3000 rounds through them, and never had a problem. I have changed out the recoil spring and rod to a stainless set up, but only for my preference. I have purchased them both new for under $200.00, thanks to price matching, and I must say again, I Love this weapon. I also love this video, nice to see someone back the weapon, instead of badmouth it for a change. Tight shot group, the three inch hole I bore in the targets, is just about the center of the heart, and that is at 25 feet.

Where Glocks finish maybe better the G2C's grip and texture feels much better in my hand. I started out using a Taurus pt111 G2 And for a starter it’s good to have the safety and also if you have children as well not like you’ll leave it laying around but for a sense of peace of mind it’s good to have.

    I love the G2C. I haven't purchased one yet only because I don't need another 9mm subcompact but I'll eventually buy one just because it's such a nice weapon. It's not just good for a $200.00 gun it would still be a very good gun all the way up to the $450.00.
    The benifit in this being a DA/SA type gun is that you can use a bore sight laser and laser practice all day long and spend $0.00 in ammunition.
    For me you earned a lot of extra crediit as a reviwer for being one of the earliest of the respected reviewers to give this gun the credit it deserves.

      @@vinceh1306 - The 12 round capacity of the G2C is just another feature of this pistol that puts it in a class all by itself. Something I can have an informed opinion on! Yes, we know, thanks to social media, that everybody is entitled to an opinion. I do wish they were informed ones. I have had my Taurus for nearly two years now, and it is still going strong. I agree with your good and bad points, including the trigger. But once you get used to it, it introduces the budget shooter to the differences between it and the average plinker, and can help prepare you for the next level of guns such as the Glock. I like this trigger better than the G19. Can we call the Taurus a gateway gun? I don't think so, because those that purchase it need the most they can get for the money, and either can't or won't spend all the cash they have to join the TH-cam gun elite. That is, they aren't going to become gunslingers. I have no better word for it, but it goes beyond having a gun for defense or being a sheepdog. It takes on a life of it's own, and it is worse than crack. Meth addicts are easier to talk with than these guys when it comes to something different than Glock perfection- after you pay $500-600, add another $500 for sights and triggers, etc.- don't mention your Taurus. To them, it may as well be a High Point.
    The one unpopular thing I champion is the safety. My state doesn't care if I have one or not. They barely care if I have a gun at all, even though we do have some rabid 'disarm you' folks trying to get elected. They tell me I don't need a gun. I tell them that is the communist model. They don't need expensive suits, nice cars, fancy homes or bodyguards either. But they have them, and I don't tell them what they can have. Anyway, I work at a factory that places a lot of stress on the hands, using impact guns and other vibrating hand tools. (actually working and being blue-collar deprives me of my right to have an opinion according to the political elites, but social media says I can ramble all I want if I can still use a keyboard!) Anyway, I keep my Taurus in a holster in the glovebox. If I am going straight home, I don't wear it, but grab it when I get there. So I open the door, and the light doesn't come on. I fumble in the glovebox, grab the gun, and my tired, swollen, numb hands drop it in the seat. I tiredly pick it up, to find I have not only gotten my thumb into the trigger guard pressing the trigger, but it is pointed at me. Safety was on. After I changed my drawers, I contemplated different methods of carrying and transportation of said gun. True Story. God bless and have a nice day.

      I agree with the safety comment. I don't really understand why anyone would be against it. If not preferred, it can be ignored. In addition of the above mentioned situation, when the totally uninformed access the gun, history says they will, it's another level of safety.

    The double strike capability allows me to carry loaded/uncocked. An added level of safety I appreciate.

    • @bransonred1
      @bransonred1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you clarify? There is no way to carry the G2c loaded and uncocked. Double strike refers to the ability to pull the trigger a second time if you have a bad primer or light strike. If it's loaded, it's cocked.

    • @johntempest267
      @johntempest267 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bransonred1
      To achieve loaded/uncocked you have to assemble the barrel/slide with a round on the extractor.
      It was tedious at first, but I wanted to spend range time getting used to the 2nd strike trigger pull. This requires break down-reassembly after every shot.
      After a 30 minute session & 40 to 50 shots, I'm a pro.
      If you're unsure, there is a video demonstrating the trick.

      @@johntempest267 I gotcha. I couldn't wrap my brain around why someone would want to do that. So, carrying that way gives you DAO on your first trigger pull. If you don't mind me asking, what steered you to this level of safety? G2C has a robust (and very common) firing pin block that will not allow the pin to fall unless the trigger is pulled and the trigger won't pull without pressing the trigger safety bar and the manual safety needs to be in the 'fire' position. Have you had a bad experience with your G2C or were you just going for the extra, extra safety? This method is also hard on the extractor, so I've been told. Please don't misunderstand my questions, I'm generally concerned that there might be a safety issue that I'm not aware of. It's totally a personal preference thing. I've got somewhere around 8-9k rounds through mine, shooting mostly cheap, steel cased range ammo and have never had any issue other than 3 or 4 failure to feeds caused by a magazine, and my training has always been tap-rack-bang if it don't go boom. I think the double strike capability is not only unique to Taurus but it is very interesting...I just haven't been able to make myself pull the trigger a second time when using intermittent dummy rounds during training lol

      I'm probably operating with an over abundance of caution. As an apendix carrier, the fear of blowing my balls off may be irrational. I know of no such mishaps.
      However, I recently changed from carrying unchambered to locked and loaded after watching videos explaining why it's a good idea. And this added measure helps ease the anxiety that came with the change.
      I've not got as many rounds thru mine as you, but I've had a couple of malfunctions (stovepipes), never a primer failure.
      So I feel I'm putting to good use a unique feature that otherwise is unnecessary. And your not the first to question it's validity or necessity. My reply is simply, why not? Extractor fatigue is the best answer I've heard.

    I wish Taurus would consider building a premium version of the G2C with a more durable finish. I'd love to see what they could do with this weapon if they mil-spec'd some of the components and spent some money really upgrading this gun. It's not like it needs much work anyway. As it is now the G2C is strong competition for any comparable pistol up to $450.00 but a premium version could compete all the way up to the $600.00 range I think.

      @@karenbarger6642 - The G2C is such an outstanding weapon it $200.00 it really makes you wonder what Taurus could do with this weapon at $350.00 to $450.00. I am so inspired by the idea I have written the factory myslef to ask them to consider doing it. I think the merit in this idea is so strong almost anyone could see them doing it.

    Great revisit. Appreciate the info since I haven't put that many rounds thru mine yet. The price is what caused me to buy this model when it was on sale. Just too good a price to pass up. Turns out, I ended really liking it. I use for EDC now. Even with a 12 round mag, it is a great size for concealment. Only have about 350 rounds thru it so far (300 ball & 50 JHP). Going to the range this weekend to put more JHP thru it. So far, no malfunctions.
