💐💖🇸🇪❤🇨🇮 Thank you, Sue! 🤗 You brought tears in my eyes, when I remember the first and last time I visited that place, myself, back in the spring of 1996, twentysix years ago. When we left Philos resting place we actually came across his mother, Philomena, outside the cemetary and she insisted on that we followed her home and visited her "Philo-museum", that she had arranged in one of her rooms. An absolutely astonishing and memorable afternoon we had with Philomena and her male friend that told us loads of stories and memories about Philo. A milestone in my life, for sure. Thank you for taking us on your tour. Amazing. Phil was my “guitar hero” as a California boy. My favorite concert was Lizzy at the San Francisco Warfield theatre during the Chinatown tour. 1981? I bumped into Phil about a year before he died while on a British Airways flight LHR-SFO and Phil was sitting a few rows ahead of me. I plucked up the courage to say Hello and soon enough he came back to sit next to me for an hour to chat. It was amazing. He was amazing. Sadly that was when he was in his deep addiction and his frequent trips to the toilet now make sense. So sad. A great man who inspired many people and will never be forgotten. I hope to get to Dublin to visit Philo’s grave one day. Again, thanks for the tour.

I was there in January 1996 on the afternoon after the King's Call tribute concert at The Point Depot. Afterwards I was lucky enough to be taken to meet Phyllis at her home White Horses. Phil was one of my rock heroes, gone far too soon. "ARE YOU OUT THERE?" Yes we are Phil, and we still remember. RIP

Hi Jack, yes I visited just to pay my respects too, it's been on my list for a long time, we met some really sweet locals in the cemetery too, it's in a really lovely area too
I was introduced to Think Lizzy through my then boyfriend (later husband) during a trip 1986-87. He would play their music while we drove overnight. I had only heard the Jailbreak album and quick fell in love with it. I practically wore that cassette tape out until my stereo with the tape still in it was stolen. Later my husband bought me the CD . I really hadn't heard anything from them until about a week and a half ago when a documentary of the band popped up and I watched it. Started finding videos of them on yt and I have been so engrossed in listening to everything I can find and loving every minute of it.

So many good songs; Romeo & the Lonely girl, Dancing in the Moonlight, suicide is a song about a Perry Mason episode entitled “the case of the lovers leap” ; i thought it was fascinating that Phil got the idea to write a song about it after seeing that show; the guitar work on that song is superb! Of course I love the hits with the catchy riffs that are fun to play on guitar but I also love the song "It's Getting Dangerous," very moving song for some reason. Great vid, thanks!
I'm English, and this brought a tear to my eye. Rock on, Sue. What a tribute, to a great man. Thin Lizzy.... Best band to ever come out of Ireland. No argument. Edit: My favourite song by the way, is _Baby Please Don't Go._ Masterpiece.
Sue,Thanks. I don’t really like famous grave videos. But yours is so informative and interesting! Thanks for the tribute. I had a lot in common with the man an my livers not what it should be. Somehow by the grace of God I got away from all that stuff. May God bless you and thanks again! I cover a few Lizzy tunes myself only out of respect !. But nothing like Phil and the band ever did. They’re the greatest!!!
Heartbreaking absolutely heartbreaking such an acutely gifted man a complete miscarriage of justice too young to leave us RIP Phil you're legend is too strong to be forgotten we will forever enjoy the treasure you've left behind
Been a Lizzy fan for 40 years, learned to and was inspired to play guitar when I hear Live and Dangerous. But one thing to be clear, I don’t think his death was a miscarriage of justice. It was a choice to live in the underworld if drugs while looking normal in the surface. His death was tragic in the sense that he left his mom devastated and his young girls without a father. But he could have gotten help at any time. If his children were not enough to cause him to get help then they were better off other than having to see him decline if they were older.
@matts1364 this comment hits hard with me as we lost someone we loved to addiction and mental health, won't get into details here but I will say help is there if they want it. Sometimes it's easier to drown yourself in artificial highs than face the reality and accept the help that's there. If you can't choose your children over the ups and downs of addiction it just means their darkness has won. Having said that, it's easier said than done. 💔
Thank you for that. Saw Thin Lizzie in Vancouver in the 70's. The Boys are back in town still reminds of my teenage years. We actually spent a few late nights at Dino's !!
One of a kind. His unique place will never be replaced by anything, anyone, ever. In my opinion, alongside tens of different unique skills he had, his most significant and yet kinda most overlooked side was his ability to sing his way before, through, over, after, I mean ANY WAY ONE COULD with the music. You realize this once you start dumbly thinking that Thin Lizzy songs sound easy to sing and end up realizing that it's actually the opposite once you get going. As a die hard Thin Lizzy fan from Turkey, I wanna thank you a lot for this video. It still saddens me a lot to remember the way he died really.
I was listening to his music lately I love Sarah too also love the song I played at the end of the video, Old Town. You really get to understand the talent when you're standing there at his grave and of course the huge loss
@@SerenitySueGraveyards yes he was a well known comedian.. showing my age perhaps 😁. Never mind, I’m lucky to be here. 😄. I remember him from the 70s and 80s (about then anyway)
Thank you for visiting for all of us who can't make it all the way there! Still miss him. Drugs have taken so many talented people way too early. I still listen to "Sarah" on a regular basis - it always lifts me up, such a beautiful song. Just wanted to add that the last name is definitely pronounced "LIE-not". I've been saying it wrong myself for a very long time as well. Thanks again, Sue!
Thanks Logan, I've never in my life heard it pronounced LIE-not maybe it's an Irish thing I think I'd find it strange to say it like that now. You're more than welcome
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I know, I used to find "lin-not" more natural but it's wrong. Sarah said in an interview that Phil used to say "I'm not some feckin' bird" when correcting people's pronunciation :)
Sarah is my favourite song of theirs, and I've always called him lie-not,I once read he was married to the daughter of leslie crowther, the man who used to do the price is right, and stars in their eyes, if anyone remembers him.its such a lovely grave.i think his song called sarah was made cos his first born daughter was called sarah.🙏
@@christinegill3425 That's correct. Although he has a son, I think Phil was married only once, to Caroline Crowther. She is the mother of both Sarah and Cathleen. He did write "Sarah" for his firstborn daughter. But when two years later Cathleen was born, Caroline had made it clear to him that he had to write another song for Cathleen as well :)
Hi sue amazing video thin lizzy are one of my favourite bands seen them in Glasgow Apollo many years ago absolutely brilliant live band hard to pick a favourite song their was so many I think killer on the loose was mine take care stay safe 👍☘🏴
Lizzy songs were the highlight of our school discos back in the seventies. I've only got to hear the first note of one of their songs to know who it is. Phil Lynott Gary Moore Rory Gallagher What is it about that little green island that gives us such brilliant musicians then takes them away far too early? Phil is eternal his music will live on when so called "stars" like Swift, West and Sheeran are dead and forgotten. You rock Phil, have a pint of the black stuff with Gary and Rory for us. 🍺🍺🍺

No-one can come close to the fantastic works of this iconic band who remain timeless. It’s so sad to know that such a gifted musician has gone. RIP Phil 🖤
Thanks for sharing Dizzy
One of my fav bands of all time fav tune...too many but ballad of a hard man comes to mind
Thank you Philo❤️ miss you
He is sadly missed
Very very much
Thank you for sharing! I visited his grave in August this year (2022), traveled from Brazil to see his grave and statue. It was very emotional. I saw 4 concerts with Thin Lizzy 1979 - 83 and still listen to them every week. Cannot name one favourite song, but right now Showdown is very high up in the list.
ThanksPar, it's a beautiful statue and I'm glad you got to visit his resting place too ❤️
A legend, sadly gone now, my favourite tracks were and still are...still in love with you and the cowboy song, live and dangerous is still one of my all time best albums...RIP Phil.... Steve
Thanks Steve, appreciate it
@@SerenitySueGraveyards no worries Sue, he got me into rock music in the late 70s, Thx for the video...
So very welcome x
Tremendo talento musical que tenia Phil Lynott. Jamás será olvidado . Un fenómeno de artista .
Thank you for this Sue! Ive been meaning to ask you to do a video on Phil Lynott and here it is! Loved thier music and especially the Celtic influence. Love the hits and "Emerald" and "Bkack Rose". RIP PHIL 🙏 😪
You're very welcome 🙏
Tin Lizzy was my favorite group growing up .my favorite song is the cowboy song . when I heard he died I just stood there and started crying. I hate drugs. it's send many man and woman to ruin's . thank you for doing this rememberence of Phil lynott .love from Kansas!
Thanks George, I agree about drugs, it's just terrible, takes so many lives
My favorite is “the boys are back in town” which goes with one of my favorite movies,” A Knights Tale”🥰
Hi Penny thank you 😊
Finding phil and lizzy as a 20 year old guitarist was like finding god, been to see a lizzy tribute act twice and holy shit they are good cant imagine how good lizzy were live.. RIP Phil and Gary
Thanks for watching Nathan, yes so much talent
The Boys areBack in Town is one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing Phillips final resting place.
Thank you Carol
Of course I love the hits with the catchy riffs that are fun to play on guitar but I also love the song "It's Getting Dangerous," very moving song for some reason. Great vid, thanks!
Thanks Joe ❤️
I'm English, and this brought a tear to my eye. Rock on, Sue.
What a tribute, to a great man. Thin Lizzy.... Best band to ever come out of Ireland. No argument.
Edit: My favourite song by the way, is _Baby Please Don't Go._ Masterpiece.
Thanks so much Lone Star x x
Cowboy Song is a timeless treasure.
Thank you
Legend! -The Boys are back in Town
The king of hard rock Phyl Lynnot the best singer of Ireland
Thank you for sharing Sue. I loved Thin Lizzy growing up in the 70's and 80's. Another one gone way too young!
I agree Kim, way too young
You are so welcome! I'm so happy you are away from all that stuff, life is a gift and we need to live it, ❤️
Heartbreaking absolutely heartbreaking such an acutely gifted man a complete miscarriage of justice too young to leave us RIP Phil you're legend is too strong to be forgotten we will forever enjoy the treasure you've left behind
Thanks Eamonn so very sad
Wow i cant give a number 1 favorite song hell i dont think i could give you the ten best, there is so much out there with Philip.
❤️
Thanks Sue. I absolutely love the Cowboy Song.
Thanks Ed
Thank you for that. Saw Thin Lizzie in Vancouver in the 70's. The Boys are back in town still reminds of my teenage years. We actually spent a few late nights at Dino's !!
Cool
Thank you so much for your comment, yes he was so unique, so much talent it's extremely sad
Brought tears to my eyes . Beautifully done Serenity Sue . Sarah is one of my favourite songs but to many to mention really . Thank you so much cx
I was listening to his music lately I love Sarah too also love the song I played at the end of the video, Old Town. You really get to understand the talent when you're standing there at his grave and of course the huge loss
Parisian walkway's has to be up there in my top 5 all time greats . A collaboration with Gary Moore , simply the best xx
Thanks Caron
Phil and Philomena rest in peace. 🕊️
Thanks Ben, reunited again
RIP❤Phil,Philomena and Gary✌❤🙏
Gifted and such a beautiful man. Gone too soon. The drugs were your demons Always remembered 💔
Thanks, I agree x
Such a sad waste of a much talented person, and like many gone too soon, thanks sue for the presentation sue, from ballarat in Oz🙏🙏🙏👍🇦🇺
So true Peter, drink and drugs unfortunately leave many talented young men and women down a dark path. Like Phil the body just can't cope
@@SerenitySueGraveyards exactly,take care you,GV and all sleep well,😴😴🙏🙏🇦🇺
Grande phil tu musica nunca desaparecera...eres leyenda.....nos vemos en algun momento---maestro....
Thank you for the video. It moved me to tears.
You are so welcome
I knew his father in law, quite well, he was my neighbour, Leslie was a real gentleman and a character
Hi Lady Laoise, that's lovely to hear x
He was a good comedian. 👍.
I googled him and I do recognise him
@@SerenitySueGraveyards yes he was a well known comedian.. showing my age perhaps 😁.
Oops I better learn to pronounce it better 🤫
Thanks John, appreciate it
Lizzy songs were the highlight of our school discos back in the seventies. I've only got to hear the first note of one of their songs to know who it is.
Phil Lynott
Gary Moore
Rory Gallagher
What is it about that little green island that gives us such brilliant musicians then takes them away far too early?
Phil is eternal his music will live on when so called "stars" like Swift, West and Sheeran are dead and forgotten.
You rock Phil, have a pint of the black stuff with Gary and Rory for us. 🍺🍺🍺
So very well said, thank you 😊
All Lizzy songs are my favorite have every album
Hi Brent, thank you
Thank you Sue...! This was interesting to see... Listen to Thin Lizzy from 1983 (13y old at that time)... Still listen... One of the best bands ever... Regards from Finland...👍
