This man was an inspiration to me. He still is. He was a truly kind and good man.. You can hear it from what they all were saying in this video and his spirit will live on forever. A family member of mine was lucky enough to meet him in a pub in Dublin and get his autograph. She gave it to my dad and now it is mine. It is something I will treasure forever. I am so proud to be Irish...

HEROIN is a terrible trap... It offers a warm, relaxing feeling and sense of
overwhelming wellbeing which seems to help people who work busy and
hectic shedules like rock stars. The effect is only temporary however,
and by the time most people decide to stop using it, it's already too
late, as they are addicted. It is much easier to take another bit and
get rid of the horrific withdrawal symptoms, (the "sickness" as most
addicts refer to it as) than it is to go through the sickness, and
return to feeling normal. This worst part of this recovery process can
last for up to a week. Taking another bit of the drug gets rid of the
sickness INSTANTLY, this is the trap of it, and the reason people get
STUCK on the drug. They are no longer using it for pleasure at this
stage, they are only using it so they feel "normal", (ie: the way their
body felt usually, before they EVER took heroin). It's a HIGHLY
addictive substance, and it's very sad the way so many musicians get
roped into using it, all because of the initial feelings of stress
relief and wellbeing it provides. The good things the drug provides are
very SHORT-LIVED though, and the way the addiction seeps in is SO SUBTLE
that NOBODY sees it happening until it is too late. Respect from Davey
in Longford, Éire. (If anyone needs help or support beating drug
addiction, don't hesitate to contact me, I'll provide my email address,
and will do everything I can to support you, and give you help to beat
    your addiction)

Hearing the songs in the backgound, I just couldn't understand how under-appreciated this band was. I became absolutely obsessed because of this. On my honeymoon in Ireland i have pictures of myself next to his statue off Grafton St. The most moving BEH i have ever seen.

I remember Phil and the boys at the Greyhound in Croydon and they were the happiest (and loudest) times in my life. Scott & Robbo dueling off each other till their fingers bled. I just cannot put across how much those days in the 70's mean to me, they were my life, they still are. At one gig at the Greyhound (I think it was the Jailbreak tour) I bet my mate two quid he wouldn't climb into one of the speakers next to the stage where we sat joyfully having our ears blow away. He did it, I lost the bet. To this day my hearing has not been too great. Was it worth it, would we do the same thing again given the chance?.....You bet we would, What fabulous memories that will unfortunately die with me now in my 60's and not well. I just wish their was somehow, some way I could hand those memories on but I can't and that is a travesty. Yes, the world moves on, but it will be (is) an infinitely poorer place without Phil & the boys back in town. BSR?.....keep the dream rolling boys!

So nice to hear Phil's mom say "he was a great man". I still love listening to "The Boy's Are Back In Town", even more so now with fond memories. RIP Phil Lynnot (sic? please excuse). Reminds me so much of a time when an Irish bloke dropped in on a few Aussie kid's just left home and beat the living shit out of a junkie who'd just robbed us. He wasn't so big, Marty was his name, but oh boy did he bet the shit out of that guy, for no other reason than he knew he was lying. We were eighteen, Marty was in his thirties, knew the score.
