The covenant has to be the best halo 3 mission, fighting alongside with ODST’s in the beginning while killing brutes, then taking on with a mongoose or warthog, getting more weapons or ammo, coming back and getting hornets for the first time, fighting banshees, AA wraiths/wraiths, phantom, and more brutes but doing it with elites this time, killing more brutes then the flood, coming back to see gauss hogs, mongeese, and a tank with elites and marines, choosing an air or ground vehicle to beat the scarabs with good music then the flood allying with you, killing the prophet of truth and more flood.
This has to be the best mission of halo 3

It’s my favorite mission in the franchise for sure. An epic tale in three acts. It also heavily pays homage to CE with you storming the beach and driving the tank in the snow. Wonderful culmination of the story right there. I also love the last mission, but The Covenant really is a complete halo experience.

There isnt a single mission in the entire series that does anything better than The Covenant. Excellent storytelling through gameplay, I can play it over and over and not get bored. Also the only mission where you fight every possible enemy in a single mission
The Covenant was one of my favorite Halo levels of all time. It’s so epic, from the High Charity ship appearing, to the two scarabs dropping with the epic Halo ost, I loved this level a lot.

I managed to get as far as the beach were the falcon lands usually without actually getting in the falcon before but just as general heed found the next section of the level wont load in, i wonder if there is a way to force the next section to load, halo reach is harder to get out of bounds on because they use a lot of kill boundaries

You said something @5:53 that the texture is wonky. I'd like to give an explanation about how that works and why it shows up like that.
I didn't work on Halo 3 but I am a graphics engineer working on AAA games.
Graphics in games is complicated but it needs to render every single object on every single frame. But what if an object isn't there? Well, you could clear the screen to a solid color but that clear takes time which you can't afford if you are trying to hit a certain amount of frames per second. So often there will be an assumption that every pixel will be covered by an object or the skybox. If something will draw over it then there's no reason to clear it. The reason you don't see the door is because of something called backface culling. The game doesn't bother trying to render the triangles that are facing away from you. And this piece of the door (just like other parts of the terrain) were never meant to be seen from that side. So it's less of the door texture being weird and more of the door being completely invisible and the "sky" behind it being wonky.
You see this when going out of bounds too. Around @8:55 you see a bit of it where the object that used to be there just sort of ghosts behind leaving a trail. Also what was likely happening when you were inside the rock.

What games have you worked on and how?
@@xbassault9819 I worked at Wargaming Seattle before that got shut down. Code I wrote is technically in World of Tanks and World of Warships right now but my first real professional product will be Marvel's Avengers. Still pretty young and that list will grow over time.
If you mean how as in what I do - I do graphics and tools programming mostly. Graphics involving rendering to asset pipelines. Basically getting everything the artist does into the engine and performant enough to run at the desired framerate. Tools involves making the internal programs that the designers and artists use to get their work done such as a world editor. Similar to if you've ever used/seen unreal engine, unity or a mapmaking/modding program.
If you mean how as in how I got into game dev - Went to school for it. It's certainly not the only way but having a degree does help you get your foot in the door more easily. I recommend game schools specifically to those who don't care much for gen ed and are set on a game dev career. Full Sail and Digipen being the largest in the US. I went to one of those but plenty of colleagues went to the other. Different teaching philosophies but both are good.

Tails didn’t fall asleep, he just merely failed to stay awake. Also I barely play campaign (and I’m pretty trash at fighting AI, but I’m decent at PVP), so almost anything you tell me that you’ve done in campaign can impress me. So watching this blew my small mind lmao

At 11:00 when you hit the load, you're position just happened to overlap into solid space, and the reasoning for Dim teleporting, was because the overlap would've put him in an unloaded area so the game warped him to a player that was in a valid area.

Just as a piece of information, speaking as someone who used to develop some stuff on Source engine, that "smeared wonky texture" you're seeing throughout is called a lack of a texture placed or a map leak in the geometry. There are frequently elements of maps that "leak out" onto the empty space surrounding the map geometry, mostly since developers either don't optimize things or don't expect certain things like what you're doing to happen. The stuff where you can see through geometry without that "smearing" is no draw texture, a resource saving measure of applying blank textures to geometry that would normally load in to save engine and hardware resources. You have to put that onto geometry that you'll load in but not see, otherwise the map leaks and effectively eats up resources. You're seeing literal empty space that either hasn't loaded proper textures it should or stuff that was not textured properly, even with no draw.

I remember when I was with a group that was just for breaking the games on 360 yes you did stumble on to the checkpoint you want have it triggered where they are on land it will take several tries but it is possible took my crew 4 days but we finally got it back in 09

Not many people know this, but you can actually ride as a passenger of a hornet in the last section. It'll fly you to the scarabs, and even pick you back up before it blows up. Really neat little detail that could easilly be missed
And then there was Acrophobia.
Made it become too easy to beat without a vehicle.

The "smear" texture is actually the game not being able to clear flags, so it just uses the previous flags to create a texture to fill in the missing flags.
I remember that problem of getting stuck in that loading point when trying to do the time travel trick in the ghost like most people would. I got more stuck more often than I succeeded in the trick
I found a few of glitches before, me and a friend years ago tried to do this but we got side tracked when we glitched the level so hard we saw into our bodies, I think we were trying to get a ghost to go back to the last loading area aka the third tower to kill the flood but we didn't realize that despawns the flood.
