You can learn more languages at the same time if you have enough time to dedicate to the process. No limit for that. Just as you mentioned a bit, it is important not to learn two similar languages at the same time (from scratch). Hi Iclal, thanks for your insights. I decided to learn two languages at once this year (Russian and Italian) while maintaining my other two languages (French and Spanish). I find it a difficult balancing act. As much as I want to learn Russian and find it a beautiful language, I make progress so much faster in Italian and more fun to study rather than feeling like study. Of course this makes sense as it is my third romance language whereas Russian is my first non-romance/slavic language so it is a harder jump. In your last few videos it seems you always pronounce the word "video" with a "w" sound instead of a "v" sound which is very noticeable to a native speaker. I have heard this is a common thing for German speakers actually. They are aware they often pronounce a "w" as a "v" in English and then they over-correct by pronouncing even "v" words with a "w" sound. But anyway just a little thing, hope this helps!

Very very very nice video. I myself study multiple languages at the same time, but it really depends on every point she mentioned. It is possible, even beneficial sometimes, but it's necessary to be cautious in some cases. I wouldn't recommend it to a person who has never studied language before and wants to start, though. Other than that, consider what she had explained, and go ahead! Happy learning!
This is an old video, but I wanted to share that my German was at a very comfortable C1 when I started learning Korean, and I'm having no problems picking up Korean and it isn't interfering at all with my German - in fact it's given me more energy and motivation for German, in part since I know I can't just be lazy anf immerse because my time is limited if I want to also include Korean. I think I want to keep up this pattern, speedrunning acquisition in one language until I'm at öeast C1 in comprehension (I find output takes more time and directed effort) before I start learning a new language. It feels to me like I could not touch German for a year and it would all still be there for me when I came back, if I just watched a few videos.
Merhaba iclal! Yaptığın icerikleri cok beğeniyorum ve bazen birden fazla kez izlemeye ihtiyaç duyuyorum. Özellikle Almanca videoların benim icin biraz daha önemli. Thanks for the video Iclal :) Actually I think you speak German in a really beautiful way, it gust suits you super nicely! I'm sure there won't be any problem even after spending time learning Dutch :) Good luck 😊
Hello 👋 from Syria. I like to speak different languages but it demand a lot. Uunderstanding others with their languages thoughts, feelings and ideas are so great 👍👍
I`m improving my English ( intermediate level ) and learning Russian (started from begginer level, but my second mother language is Bulgarian and it's not that difficult for me ) wish you all the best ❤ P.S Your Russian is perfect and thanks for recommendations 🙏
this video was published at such a perfect time as, just last night, i was thinking of stopping learning three languages at once. you're totally right that one should waste their time solely thinking about adding another language when they could be spending that time learning that language
Thank you so much thank you for your explanation. You know what I can speak English well and my English is not that bad. I don’t speak English fluently, but I can pass without any problem so I improve my English and my English has improved it so everything is great except Turkish language these days I’m learning Turkish language and it’s so hard. It’s not like English language. I mean Turkish is easy for arab people as I am arab person there are a lot of common words between Turkish and Arabic as well but the hardest part in Turkish language is pronunciation. We have to pronounce a word in incorrect way when you pronounce it incorrect way Turkish people cannot understand you at all so you have to practice we need to pronounce this word correctly or this sentence so if you give me a piece of advice how to learn English and Turkish at the same time if you don’t mind as soon as possible keep going, I like your videos, wishing you all the best in your life
Wonderful video! It’s a nice topic to hear about-I live in the Netherlands and began learning Dutch with a middling level of German already developed, and refused to give up the German cause I found it so interesting. It is admittedly confusing at times, but I’ve had actually quite a bit of succes after a year and a half. Conversing fluently (wenn nicht immer richtig) and reading lots of novels as well in both languages. I’m a music student, and live in an international community where one kinda flows between different languages, it’s very fun, the only time where I feel truly insecure is when I’m with a group of Dutch or German speakers, in dit geval is het wel moeilijk om een woord te laten klinken, want je bent zo bezig met volgen! I‘m truly Germanic‘d out at the moment, but Icelandic is also extremely beautiful, and I have a few friends who I’d like to get closer to through that language…in due time. Succes allen!
Yes! 😉
Sure, you can do it. I learned two simultaneously in high school. The only thing that I would caution against would be trying to learn two languages from the same family. So: French and German was fine. But if I had tried instead to learn, say, Spanish and Italian together, this would have been problematic. On the other hand, once I had acquired a C1+ command of French, Italian was no longer a problem.
Do you suggest me to learn German and French at the same time. My German level is already between A2-B1 and there is a possibility for me to spend my summer in Germany. I am determined to reach C1 German this year. But ı really want to learn another language and French looks logical. What should ı do ?
@@aylanur7 Same here as a native Turkish! My German is around A2-B1 and I want to start learning French from scratch! Still, I have hesitations but I've been living in Germany more than 3 months and I am quite exposed to daily-life German. I can't wait to experience latin-languages starting with French! I would appreciate if Iclal has a specific opinion on learning those two languages simultaneously. Keep it up Iclal, I love your content here!
So I'm william and i live in Brazil I'm 21 years old and I've been learning English since 2016 and I can tell that I can understand everything in English I'm always facing new vocabs I had read a bunch of books in English but my weakness is speaking due to the fact that I have nobody to practice my abilities to speak but even this I always try to do something about it, I tried to speak in front of the mirror, with my kittens but the thing that enhance my speech was recording my voice in English I did this for 640 days for 10 minutes it's was fun, easy and hard the same time, and after all this I have the gut to recording a video in English then I upload on the TH-cam and now it's my hobbie and I hope I can go to the US to speak in English there, and I met a lot of people online I use my English to comunicate with them, I'm always learning new thing. It's so fun making videos in English, in the beginning I was shy but I had to wait a little more to get used to speak naturally, you just have to put in mind that you can do it because it turns out that it's so true!!!
My mother tongue is Bosnian (our language has 7 cases) but German is still hard for me. Beside learning Arabic (approx. B2) and English (C1), this year I'm planning to focus on my German reaching at least B1. Hope that learning Arabic and German at the same time won't affect my results. Thank you for advices!
For me..even if two languages are completely different or having little in common i start mixing words too😅. Maybe I should dedicate more time for a single language first then as you said once being safe that the language wouldn’t “fly away from you” i will consider the second one

@@iclaliano I was learning English and French at school but I unfortunately didn't give it a big attention I wasn't interested in languages at that time but now I regret it , it's my 4th year of uni and my studies are fully in French 😢
I felt the same for a while. I started learning Dutch in Uni just after finishing studying German and for those who know you can't quite confuse them but they are somewhat similar. It was a nightmare, but it only motivated me to reinforce my German.
I would really like to learn spanish and Chinese. Ive been trying to learn spanish for the past few months but I think I've been doing it wrong, so I'm trying to find a more productive/efficient way. On the other hand, I feel like Chinese would be spreading even more in the next few years. I dont know much about china or its culture so I'd like to learn more about it. iclal!! i have a1 korean right now but im stil learning korean and i understand korean somehow a lil well, beside that i started learning german last week and i find it little easy from korean bcus at first it was kinda a lot like english and it made it so much easier for me, now im still learning german and i love it so much but i also wanna continue korean too which im doin but would it be difficult to learn both of them cuz i feel like korean a lil hard, u dont have experience with korean i know but i felt like asking ur opinion
I learned English as second language and German as third at school. It was hard. A lot of similar ish words. Hard to remember right version of word (But no such problems with Latin as fourth at the same period of time🤔). As russian I liked and understood German logic well (as you said). But English is till now hard for me and I have no motivation to improve I understand it. There is no logic in it. Idioms are totally crazy. But Portuguese I learned easily as adult in 4 month to B2. I feel it. I agree that if one language is difficult for you it doesn't mean that you can't learn other one.
Hello iclal would you please make a video explaining how to manage time for learning two languages simultaneously. Like making a schedule including both languages Like French and Turkish or Turkish and German. Thank you 💞
I don’t know why, but I’m scared to learn 2-3 languages at the same time. Considering the fact that my English is quite good already and the third language that I want to learn is Ukrainian which is pretty similar with Russian, my mother tongue. Something stops me deep down. But I really want to do it. What do you think about it and what would you advise me? Thank you in advance ❤
I'm learning English and German simultaneously. I'm almost B2 English level and beginner in German. Few months later I'm planning to learn Russian because I'm at pre class. I hope that I can keep my sanity.
Can you please tell us how you manage your time? Like how do you manage language learning and school work snd social life? That would help so many of us. Thanks ❤❤
You brought your German to B2 after one year? Wow, it took me two years to get A2 in French (and dedicating more time to the language wouldn't help because I just burn out).
One super combo to learn would be learning a spoken language while learning a signed language. I speak American Sign Language and have even incorporated signs into my study of another language, just so I remember new words more easily.
Any tips for someone who is learning korean and German at the same time? I don’t think they’re comparably similar so im facing difficulties learning these two at once 🦭
As a complete beginner in German knwoing Russian since early age I would like to watch a video in which you offer an insight into how learning Russian helps with learning German. I am really curious what you have noticed that I don't realize just yet. Edit: Ok, so you ment the case system and so called "helping questions" which help speakers of all European Languages deriving from Latin to determine the case. Yes, it helps. But Latin had more cases than modern day German, so it's tricky since in most langauges German cases make cases in other languages merge into one and this is confusing. For example Polish has 7 cases and German only 4, so confusion comes from how this merger of Polish two cases works like in German. Same with Russian. Reduction is hard. It's like French has more elements sometimes than Spanish and it's confusing for speakers of Spanish. As for mxing Spanish with Italian, yes, a has happened to me too but in a different way when my Spanish was way more advanced than my very basic Italian. And I also took a break from Italian, worked mostly on my Spanish and then got back to Italian and interfrecne issues happen only once in a blue moon nowadays. As for English and French they have a lot in common in terms of phonetics, 40% of all borrowings in British English comes from French, so yes, no wonder this combination is relatively easy.
Looking great. I mix up italian and Spanish a lot as I studied Spanish at school. I know a little German. I'd like to concentrate on German next year. Russia is far too scary

It is possible, even beneficial sometimes, but it's necessary to be cautious in some cases. I wouldn't recommend it to a person who has never studied language before and wants to start, though. Other than that, consider what she had explained, and go ahead! Happy learning!
Can you please make a video on how you improved your English accent? This year I want to focus on my accent and this would help a lot. ♡
Currently, im trying to learn Greek and Russian at the same time, i also wanna improve my English skills. You're inspiring me to learn more languages!!!!
Very useful advice, Thank you 🙏.
Thanks for the video Iclal :) Actually I think you speak German in a really beautiful way, it gust suits you super nicely! I'm sure there won't be any problem even after spending time learning Dutch :) Good luck 😊
thank you too!
Thank you for a great video!! Happy new year!! 🎊
happy new year!!
5:54 Kötünün iyisi (best of a bad lot)
I guess the English language equivalent of that saying would be "The lesser of two evils". 😊
Hello 👋 from Syria. I like to speak different languages but it demand a lot. Uunderstanding others with their languages thoughts, feelings and ideas are so great 👍👍
Thank uuuu so much❤❤❤ great video i think you covered all possible scenarios i thought of😍😍
Wonderful advice, thank you!
I`m improving my English ( intermediate level ) and learning Russian (started from begginer level, but my second mother language is Bulgarian and it's not that difficult for me ) wish you all the best ❤
P.S Your Russian is perfect and thanks for recommendations 🙏
keep it up! thanks
this video was published at such a perfect time as, just last night, i was thinking of stopping learning three languages at once. you're totally right that one should waste their time solely thinking about adding another language when they could be spending that time learning that language
glad it was useful! good luck
I'm fluent in German (B2-C1), but I'm tired of it and I wanted to learn French from 0. After your video I decided that I should definitely go for it!
Thank you so much it helped a lot and made mind clearer about learning two language I was thinking German and Arabic together.
glad it helped!
We have to pronounce a word in incorrect way when you pronounce it incorrect way Turkish people cannot understand you at all so you have to practice we need to pronounce this word correctly or this sentence so if you give me a piece of advice how to learn English and Turkish at the same time if you don’t mind as soon as possible keep going, I like your videos, wishing you all the best in your life
thanks a lot 🥰i love you keep going
im learning english and spanish and i dont have problems ❤
your sister from egypt
perfect!
On the other hand, once I had acquired a C1+ command of French, Italian was no longer a problem.
exactly!
It's so fun making videos in English, in the beginning I was shy but I had to wait a little more to get used to speak naturally, you just have to put in mind that you can do it because it turns out that it's so true!!!
thanks for sharing your thoughts william!
Hello Iclal 😊I think the best key is the motivation . When you have this you can learn everything 🎉
absolutely!!
it worked for me, I study four languages english, spanish, french and italian
My mother tongue is Bosnian (our language has 7 cases) but German is still hard for me. Beside learning Arabic (approx. B2) and English (C1), this year I'm planning to focus on my German reaching at least B1. Hope that learning Arabic and German at the same time won't affect my results. Thank you for advices!
For me..even if two languages are completely different or having little in common i start mixing words too😅. Maybe I should dedicate more time for a single language first then as you said once being safe that the language wouldn’t “fly away from you” i will consider the second one
Russian and German Grammar have based on the classical Greek grammar, so it would be easy for you to learn modern Greek!
Thabk you for the video. Im a portuguese native speaker. B2 spanish (but i dont practice it for a while), b2 English and b1 dutch. I've been thinking of learn italian at same time of dutch. Do you think it is a good idea?
Hello, thank you for this wonderful video, but I have a question? My level is B2 in English and I am learning Spanish. My level is A1 and I am starting to learn Chinese. Also, my level in the Turkish language is B1
But sometimes I forget and my concentration decreases. I feel sometimes I want to be stupid and not focus. Is this the reason or something else? I would like your advice, please, but at the same time I cannot do without languages. Thank you.
🥰
Hey İclal! I need your advice:) I am native Turkish speaker. I am already trying improve my English. I can say my English level B2. I want to learn German language from zero. How can I design my German studying plan? So, Do I need learn from English or Turkish? Thank you for your help:)

Hi dear! so nice to find your videos. I am always feeling stuck and confused about this - do I learn a new language to fluency BEFORE I try to pick up another one? Do I temporarily put the other languages I know on hold temporarily untl I have made significant progress in my target language...then move on and/or practice the other languages I know?
Hi, Iclal ! I´m Armando from Spain, I have a medium level of English and I have been thinking about starting to study German. Do you think it is a good idea? Thankss

Nice video iclal it motivated me to start learning French after a long time and improve my English simultaneously, would you please talk about how you did improve your English? Thank you
i was learning english intensively at school, and learning french also helped me with english (english was kötünün iyisi in this case lol)
I see a bright future for both languages and I'd really like to learn but I just don't know where to start 🤷🏻♀️
i learn german and spanish at the same time and i have a problem that when speak any of them i remember the word that i want to say in spanish because spanish is more easy and its more fonetic i dont know why it works like that.
Also, although it is very rare, Spanish words come to my mind when I speak English.
Thank you, I am not that good in English, but i've started to learn french, and i wish one day i will learn spanish, thank you for your inspiration,
hi Iclal, my native language is Spanish and I am have a b1 in English, I want to improve it to a c1 but at the same time I want to learn French and Chinese, it's a bit complicated to decide what it's the right thing to do.
Hey iclal nice vedio as always could you maybe do a vedio about Turkish and about your tips as a native speaker for those who interesting in learning this beutiful language.
Could you do a video about which language more useful to learn. Cause i can't decide. For example what can i do with russian? what's the use of me? Btw your video great and really inspiring for me :)
My english is b1 and i want to learn german from zero
Shall i ?
My level in English is intermediate and I need to practice more for speaking fluently but I'm studying Arabic in university so I need to learn it, How shoud I plan for both of them ?
Hello Iclal, can you maybe suggest the resources (grammar books, app, yt channels etc.) you used to study Russian from scratch? :) Thank you. Big hugs from Italy!❤️
Here I am wondering if I should choose French for Italian (from very basic) as a person fluent in English and Spanish I think I should try to learn both xx
My English Language is A2 and I’m in english Department.. and also I want to learn Spanish from zero… both of them at the same time..
Is it possible??
Plz help me!…
Regards
i know b1 level in english and i want to learn russin from 0. i am worrying abt what if i confuse grammar and words. i can't decide should i begin to learn russian or not?
iclal!! i have a1 korean right now but im stil learning korean and i understand korean somehow a lil well, beside that i started learning german last week and i find it little easy from korean bcus at first it was kinda a lot like english and it made it so much easier for me, now im still learning german and i love it so much but i also wanna continue korean too which im doin but would it be difficult to learn both of them cuz i feel like korean a lil hard, u dont have experience with korean i know but i felt like asking ur opinion
French and Italian languages are sisters , I am fluent in French and I can understand some Italian without even learning it .
Yes but the prononciation is different
Is french and spanish are similar
N1 English, made B1 in French, Spanish, and Italian studying each at the same time
Very Nice...Thanks
Looking great. I mix up italian and Spanish a lot as I studied Spanish at school. I know a little German. I'd like to concentrate on German next year. Russia is far too scary
Tbh I’m a native English speaker and I feel like my English isn’t perfect 😂
I have bases in French and German so I’m learning them both simultaneously as well as dabbling in the Irish language (ITS A SUPER HARD LANGUAGE OMG)
good luck!

how many hours a day do u spend for learning languages?
I just study 1 for like an hour then the other for 3 plus hours up until a certain level then focus on the 1 hour one more
That's fantastic
thank you!
Great video!
thanks!
Hey Iclal . Could you explain to us how to improve english level from b1+ or b2 to C1.I guess this can be a new content😊😊
Engage with material, whether it be books, movies, tv shows, that have harder vocabulary/grammar. Usually that material will be what native speakers use.
I love your accent, you are speaking british accent
Arka planın harika,yani odan🤩😍🥳
teşekkür ederim!!
Is french and Spanish similar?
Are* lol
I am learning French now, currently transitioning from A2 to B1. Once I am at B1 intermediate, that's when I am planning to start learning a new lang, while improving my French to C1.
Please may I ask you. What is your first mother language
Turkish
I am glad that you haven't discarded the idea learning Spanish
Russian and German have something in common; stress 😅
Saludos desde Ankara ❤
jajajaj estoy completamente de acuerdo
Learn 4 languages at the same time it works
