MaddWiz - If that was the case, wouldn’t he let them hold longer? I mean all of his haters say that he runs and HOLDS. So what you said doesn’t make sense. 😒
Mayweather's boxing knowledge in the ring is unreal, slipping punches, catching punches, weaving punches, rolling punches, sliding punches, Footwork, head movement, reaction time, he is too good.
@steveninthe He's without a doubt in the conversation. However, my gripe with considering him the best over names like Ali was because Floyd's generation of competition was no where even remotely close to as grueling as the heavyweight divisions were of old and anyone who truly knows boxing knows this to be true. Also, back in Ali's days, fights were longer which meant more conditioning and more room for danger. Anyone saying Floyd is overrated is an absolute fool and should go back to sleep, but I don't think he's the best ever. The heavyweight division in the 70s-80s were just flat out more competitive and Fighters had much higher hills to climb.
@Bohanable Bo I understand where you are coming from, but it's no mystery how much more dangerous the heavyweight divisions are and technically, you have to be more sound in a battle where every single punch has absolute game changing power. I'm not sure how long you have been watching boxing, but Floyd's competition was and never will be at the level that the heavyweight division was of the 70s and 80s. There is a reason that era was the golden age of boxing. Every match was a blockbuster event. I respect the hell out of Floyd and I will repeat myself again, he was one of the Greatest there will ever be, but we need to acknowledge facts.
When you realize that Mayweather was soooo good that he intentionally allowed Cotto to keep him on the ropes just to make the fight more entertaining. At no point did Cotto throw a shot that Floyd didn't see coming. At no point did Cotto have Floyd in one ounce of trouble. Y'all really need to appreciate how high his boxing IQ was!!!!!
Agreed. I kind of think Floyd was intentionally taking it easy at times, which the commentators mention too, but if he was, I don't think he intended to get punched in the face that much
Unstoppable force meets unmovable object! the level of fittness and skill of Both these guys demands respect! Cotto is just relentless and floyds accuracy is off the charts
Cotto was definitely one of Mayweather's toughest opponents. People don't give Mayweather enough credit for his chin. He ate some big shots from Cotto.
Hmm, I don't think so. He only seemed tough because Floyd played the ropes, to give Cotto opportunities to make the fight look more exciting. In the middle of the ring, Mayweather dominated him, without much effective countering from Cotto. Considering this, the fight was no more difficult than Floyd allowed it to be. Maidana was definitely one of his toughest, though.
This fight just showed how special Mayweather is and also Cotto, Mayweather just got the best of it. Clearly Floyd won but Cotto didn't look bad at all, He did his thing.
Probably Floyd’s best performance, it showed his ability to adapt to new standings and how great his IQ is. Crazy cause he was about to be 35 years old here and wasn’t even in his full prime
Off eye it was one of his worse performances and Im sure team Floyd agrees and switched to Floyd Sr as Roger was old......Floyd couldnt break Cottos guard, and off eye from round 1 Floyd didnt like the thud and physical strength of Cotto, usually Floyd is able to bully guys in the clinch even Canelo he did that but vs Cotto he couldn't move him....The fight that showed me he wasn't razor sharp with his straight right no more or lost confidnece in it, a older pulling the trigger thing, Floyd showed age and wrinkles the first time in the ring that night....And even threatened to retire after the punishment Cotto caused him. Brutal match a war both ways
To all the Pacfraud fans this is how you cutoff the ring. Cotto put on a performance 100000x better then Manny put on. I respect Cotto the way not only how he fought but how he made not 1 excuse after he lost.He lost but he put on one of the best performances ive seen against Mayweather. This is a fight that needs a rematch. Not because it Floyd should have lost , but because it was a really good fight.
Manuel Sanchez I am a bit of a Pacquiao fan - don't know why everybody hates on him though... Although the excuse about his shoulder was bad Yes - you are right Cotto did way better than Pacquiao did against Mayweather At least you are praising Cotto though and not calling Pacquiao fans 'casuals' (I am GGG&crawford guy btw) P.S - dunno about you, doesn't that tick you off when most of Floyd fans (who are casual fans who like him because of his race) go around calling ever one else 'casuals' when you say... "I do not think Mayweather is the best boxer of all time" and "I don't like Mayweather because of his attitude"
Stealth Hobo Your right it dosnt look good when Floyd fans call someone a "casual fan" just because they dont think Floyd is TBE , everyone has there opinion and there entitled to it. Im a Big Floyd fan , Always buy his fights , have a TMT hat , and have even been to some of his fights and i cant say he is TBE cause its not true in my opinion. I think he is definitely top 5 or 6 but I just cant Rate him Above Fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson or Ali.
Manuel Sanchez Thats pretty cool - so what fights have u seen and how long have u liked floyd? I dont like him as a person but like the way he boxes - my favorite back in the days when he was pretty boy was dela hoya Would have been nice to see a fight between a more in form and prolific dela hoya with floyd - think that would have made a good fight. Floyd ran a bit in that fight too but it was the intelligent thing to do so i cant blame him + dela hoya got tired. Think that was why the fight got a bit messy.
Cotto got this guy against the ropes 27:06, and he figures, you know what I still can't hit this guy. Lets reset and go back to the middle of the ring. That's how good Floyd was/and is in this fight.
Technically Floyd is THE best boxer i've ever seen, his style is just about perfect,he's my favourite boxer of all time, the one i copy in the gym when i box
Floyd Mayweather is so skilled and precise. His every move is calculated. It's amazing!! He's sharp, never underestimated any opponent. Stayed on point for 20 years. He's the definition of "greatness "
@@Raja-nh8jr To begin with, the best opponents he fought were all available for many years before Floyd fought them. Pacquiao, Oscar, Mosley and Cotto were available but Floyd didn't fight any of them until 11 years after his career began. It took him 14, 16 and 19 years respectively before he fought Cotto, Mosley and then Pacquiao. You don't have to try to make excuses for him in each case because in general, it's suspicious that the best all came late in his career. Who did he duck? Paul Williams, Vernon Forrest, Joel Casamayor, Margarito, Joshua Clottey, Erislandy Lara, Tim Bradley, Kostya Tszyu, Shawn Porter and all of the newer welterweights like Thurman, Kell Brook, Danny Garcia, Terence Crawford and Errol Spence. He could have challenged himself by fighting at least one or two of these guys. The self proclaimed GOAT should have to do something to prove it, but he didn't. There are others over the years that Floyd carefully avoided, choosing guys like Victoriano Sosa and Henry Bruseles instead of the top shelf guys. Before fighting Oscar in 2007, look at the names on his resume. He was well established at or near the top of the p4p list before fighting Oscar, yet these are his 8 fights before Oscar; Victoriano Sosa,...Philip N'Dou,...DemarcusCorley,...Henry Bruseles,...Arturo Gatti,...Sharmba Mitchell,...ZabJudah,...and Carlos Baldomir. There are only a couple of names that are familiar to most on that list. Even those guys were fought under suspicious circumstances. When Floyd fought Zab for example, Zab had just lost to 35 year old Baldomir, making him compromised. Rarely does a top guy fight someone that just loss to a lesser opponent. Floyd did that many times. He fought Corley just after he lost to,......Zab Judah. Henry Bruseles last fight was a draw against Enor Julio. Victoriana Sosa just fought to a draw against Lamar Murphy. Justin Juuko just lost to Antonio Hernandez. Sharmba Mitchell lost to Kostya Tszyu. Victor Ortiz last fight was a draw against Lamont Perterson at 140 lbs. Why did Floyd fight Ortiz right after Victor couldn't beat Peterson in a lower weight division? In 17 of his last 40 fights Floyd fought an opponent that lost or had a draw in his last fight or the fight before. Some lost several fights in a row. Floyd also fought 6 guys who fought exclusivley in their own country prior to fighting him, meaning they were on a lower level. He also fought several guys that were smaller then himself. Marquez for example had almost 50 fights at 130, only 2 fights at 135, then Floyd fought him at 147. Juan never fought above 135, there were a dozen or more good welterweights waiting in line, but Floyd chose a super featherwight/lightweight instead. Embarrassing. There were several others that fought smaller all of their career until they fought Floyd. Some had just one fight at 147, like Ricky Hatton. 3 fights before he fought Floyd at 147 he had a single fight at 147 but his other 44 fights were at 140. Hatton was a smaller guy most will tell you. Guerrero fought at 130, then a few fights at 135, then straight to 147 for just 2 fights, then he fought Floyd. Under those circumstances the guy that just moved up is still considered a smaller man. Sharmba Mitchell had more then 50 fights at 140, then fought Floyd at 147. Floyd's career is not what he claims it is, it's littered with cherry picked opponents. The truth is that Floyd fought a low number of fights overall. Of the 50 fights he had, maybe 10 or so were fights against good opponents who weren't compromised in some way. Many believe he lost some of those, including against Oscar, Pacquiao, Maidana and Castillo. That's why Floyd's career is more of a sham to me than anything. He went out like a dud by fighting Berto and Conor Mcgregor, a fight that shouldn't even count on his record.
He was smacking that man's ear with precision that round. He really had some great combos throughout the fight both on the outside and inside on the ropes.
People may not like his attitude outside his ring, but you know the man worked hard for this. He boxed with great passion and love. Thats the only thing that probably prevented him from driving nuts with all that money he has. Effort and dedication. You can hate, but you can't deny facts.
MrMarco855 hell no. The way he was on the ropes, nowhere to go, a stationary target, and he used the shoulder roll to deflect/evade every shot, and even return an uppercut with the right was amazing.
Watch this fight, the Canelo fight, then Gatti, and Corrales; it's hard to argue with Floyd's claims about himself. He is certainly the best boxer I have ever seen.
He was so ok with being hated, and he didn't let it affect his performance. Aside from his boxing, I admire his ability to thrive through the hate. That's a lesson for life guys (especially for black people). Keep on smiling, even if they hate it. Because they will hate it. Don't let their boos and sour faces stop you.
Well said! I think all Black people have the thickest skin, and strongest will. They have too. Especially in a world that has been euro brainwashed to hate them. You have to keep pushing forward and ignore them all. Because like you said, it's almost guaranteed that they will hate you. But you can't control their fear, only your own. So screw them, and succeed regardless.
@@busybikes9733 We're fine. You are the one who needs to get a grip. They had to show him because he was fighting guys who they were hoping would beat him. Stop minimizing facts, acting like boxing is the only facet were Blacks are hated. There's ALREADY a hater commenting in this thread. Lmao!!
@@Wis_Dom how can blacks be so hated in boxing when Ali is the most famous sportsman ever. And correct me if I'm wrong but mayweather chose his own fights.
+Tim Garcia manny through a lot of punches that looked fancy but he wasn't landing as manny he did land some but not enough to do damage mayweather landed solid ones manny was out classed that night I though manny would have done really good but he looked like an amatuer that night it's true cotto did way better than manny, cotto cut the ring better and gave mayweather a better fight
***** once again!!! floyd only landed 3 good punches in 12 rounds!!! I donno what fight you saw or if the commenattors got into your head but floyd was missing all night while the commenatators were giving him credit.... for missing!! this a fact and its video proven!!! theres nothing you can do!!! floyd was taken to school and bad!!! yes I agree manny did not threw a bunch of punches but he still landed way more then Mayweather!!! also video proven... and did you forget floyd was juiced up that night??? lmao and he still lost!!!
Love how in the clinch they very rarely were hugging. Constantly worked themselves out and were banging on the inside. Tony weeks didn't have to do much!
He is know to be one of the refs to allow the fight to take it’s course and not over referee the fight. Cotto cut off the ring well and didnt allow floyd to hug which forced floyd to fight on the inside, which is also one of floyd’s specialties. Floyd avoided this ref after this fight though 😂
When I first saw this i thought Cotto won. Years later i realize how good Mayweather did. I'm not a big time Floyd fan, but he showed his best in this fight. What a performance
In his era yes he is unmatched, in other era's no he is matched. Don't forget the greats of the past. Too many to mention had incredible reflexes, Ali, Tyson, Jones Jr, Pep, Burley, Robinson, Leonard, Toney, on and on it goes. Study your history. Lomencho is the man now with extra ordinary reflexes. Every generation has their own. And there will be so many more.
@@DiaAkin Again too many to mention. No doubt Sweet Pea taught Floyd Jr a lot too. Pea had his time. Incredible defense. I am friends with one of Sweet Pea's uncle's here in Brooklyn. Ironically his nick name is Pee Wee. Hahaha. Good dude too. Salute.
I never discredited him, but hindsight I have to humbly admit Floyd is the greatest boxer in a very long time, and I wasn’t a real fan soon enough. But I love to watch him beat the best there was during his time, what hands.
@@MrMarco855 damn jealously isn’t good man get that hate out your hurt he whoop every Mexican he faces it’s ok we know your Mexican and we know why you hate mayweather and other young black fighters like tank and devin
This is IMO the best version of Mayweather in the 2nd half of his career. Economical with his work rate. Throwing sharp punches. Mixing it up. Controlling the distance with his jab. Pot shots from the outside. Cotto was kept off balance most of the fight. Mayweather just has a knack for drastically slowing down the work rate of his opponent with movement and his offense.
The biggest thing I'll miss is Floyd's ability to disappoint his haters. It's so fascinating and fun seeing Floyd shut down the monster who was supposed to destroy him inside the boxing ring. He was like that weird puzzle you couldn' t solve or figure out no matter how good you think you are. Amazing boxer.
What I miss is that all the old HBO commentary has been edited over. Half of Emanuel Steward's legacy as a commentator has been undone by bullshit contractual disputes.
At 34:49 Cotto has Mayweather on the backfoot and throws like 5-6 shot combo and basically lands nothing, and Mayweather comes back with the shoulder roll with a beautiful counter punch right on the button, amazing work, thats what separates him from the rest, its about the quality not the quantity.
god can u imagine if floyd never had hand issues, this fight is just a glimpse, floyd in that 12th round, he was as good as sugar ray robinson, power speed smart, i def hated how these announcers rode his dick but in this fight it was hard to not be in awe im sure esp in person,
I know! It's crazy to think he is already this great and has had problems with his hands his entire career, yet he still finds a way to beat his opponents.
Tyronn Alston yea def i think its going to be a fun fight, mayweather isnt dumb, he picked berto cause it will be a fun exciting fight and he coud maybe even get the ko
Cotto is undoubtedly one the greatest champions we've ever had in Puerto Rico. Mayweather is simply the best ever. Unlike Pacquiao he never needed steroids to do his thing, Floyd retired undefeated because he was flawless inside the square circle.
Nunca había visto a Mayweather sangrar solo cotto lo puso así excelente boxeador tenía un estilo de pelea bonito sus parados todo único soy mexicano pero cotto mis respetos
If you don’t think all of the elites were in juice you might not really know what’s going on. Across every sport they’re on it. Floyd has been linked to it too.
Watch this; 'did Floyd Mayweather get caught using ped's'?, you'll see the truth. Floyd snorted dope in his dressing room before every fight. Watch the video, it's only 1:10, you'll see the truth.
Mayweather already lost like four times De La Hoya even beat him up when he was an old man I counted the punches Cotto smashed him on first fight have you watched the first Cotto fight
After re-watching today, I scores it 119-113 Floyd Money Mayweather. Some rounds I gave it a draw, which is 10 to each boxer. Amazing fight by Floyd Money Mayweather
Yup, masterclass. I love his earlier fights, what he did to Corrales was ridiculous and cemented in my mind that he was on different level than every other boxer at that time. He also made Gatti (no disrespect to Gatti, he was one my favorites) look like he didnt belong in the same building as floyd let alone toe-toe in the ring with him. Made everyone he fought look pretty average except for Castillo in their first fight, thats the only guy he really had trouble with and he fought i think 8 rounds with messed up right shoulder. I will be surprised if we see anyone come along that is comparable to Floyd... Hopefully Errol Spence can carry the torch, I believe he is the best welterweight right now.
Richard Lapointe i dont know if you are serious or if you are joking really. But hey happy new year and uhhhh... try and enjoy boxin and also understandin and reading it
lol nah hes a coward literally, he ducks and hide, cliches and hugs, i mean seriously what kind of boxer punches "hits" and then they turn their back after so they dont get hit, thats literal gayweather running style there
Floyd is simply the best, he breathes and lives boxing

Exactly! you see that! yo he was hanging on the ropes purposely during the 5th round cause he knew! he knew it was to easy for him in the middle of the ring. he was whippin cotto ass bad in the middle of the ring so much he got bored with it smh thats a damm shame
Round 1: Maywheather Round 2: Maywheather Round 3: Maywheather Round 4: Maywheather Round 5: Maywheather Round 6: Cotto Round 7: Draw Round 8: Cotto Round 9: Draw Round 10: Draw Round 11: Maywheather Round 12: Maywheather Cotto should've fought back with Maywheather in rounds 1-5. He probably could've won a round or forced a couple of draws. He seemed like he was taking too long trying to figure him out or was hoping he would get really tired in the later rounds but either way he paid the price and lost by alot. Still Cotto consistently kept great pressure on Maywheather and he showed alot of heart and determination with tremendous toughness and a confident attitude throughout the match even when knowing he was gonna lose a round and then eventually the entire fight itself. Maywheather was literally perfect, the offense and defense from start to finish.
This is one of Floyd's top performances in my opinion. His best performance in the higher weight classes I feel. If you have ever laced up gloves even once, and appreciate just how difficult it is, you cant help but be in awe of what this man can do. One of the best to ever do it
Yeah! That was funny. Also at the end of the fight, in the locker room, everyone was saying to Cotto. You won this fight, this is outrageous! 😂 The narrator was like: There is Cotto's mom, she was ti kiss her son. But what she was really saying: Dont give no interview to this fuckers! 😂😂😂 I laugh so hard.
Coming back to watch old stuff I have a lot more appreciation for Floyd's fights now that he is retired, since I hated him while he was active. Absolute masterful technique in all his fights
His style, its just.... pure science, the fients and distance management with the lead hand, footwork, creates angles, remains defensive from every position he's put in, best offensive from the philly shell I've ever seen, accuracy, this dude is the GOAT, and all of you will realise this after he's gone(like always happens)
@@biglu6977 It's true. I played nothing but sports in my time, couldn't get enough of the ' big 3 ' sports. I was quick and was difficult to tackle. One day a friend said to the group after a game,.....I know why Mark is difficult to get your hands on( when carrying the football ), he said Mark is scared, I can see it in his eyes. I never gave that a thought before, but I was always the smallest in the group and I had to say he was right, at least to some degree. Being tackled hard by guys bigger than yourself, who are pissed off because they can't catch you, is not much different then being in a fight. They want to hurt you, plain and simple. Fear is not uncommon I would suggest, in a contact sport. Boxing is one level higher than football, nobody wants to get their face smashed in. Boxing however, is considered a macho sport, you can't be a sissy and fight in the ring. You do however, have different levels of fear within the sport, just like anything other. You don't have to agree, just watch Floyd when a big hitter has him against the ropes. His facial expression is unlike any I recall seeing in the sport. He's scared, no other way to put it. He's brave enough to get in the ring and that's not easy for sure, but I'm telling it like I see it, Floyd's face looks like he's seen a monster when he's under heavy attack. Watch the 1st fight with Maidana, at times his face looked that way.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that shit hilarious when he start walking niggas down with his guard up lmao. The opponent have the most confused look on they face like what the hell is happening lol
@@frankgavaghan3456 Freddie Roach disagrees with you. You can have your opinion but when Manny’s trainer says the fight didn’t happen sooner because of us your opinion is irrelevant.
2020 and watching this closely.floyd is just on another planet. Cotto was an animal and did great work. But floyd just keeps adjusting...great work for 50-0
He said that about Carlos Hernandez also. Hernandez lost to Floyd by decision, he also lost to Pacquiao by decision. I'm not talking about Manny Pacquiao, I'm talking about Manny's little brother Bobby Pacquiao. This is another indication that Floyd ducked the best competition and waited until a softer opponent was available. Bobby Pacquiao and Floyd fighting the same guy means that Bobby was a fair opponent given his and Hernandez records and past accomplishments, but Floyd doesn't fit into that picture at all. On the night that Floyd fought Hernandez, there were a dozen guys like Mosley, Oscar, Paul Williams, Margarito, and many others that were top shelf opponents waiting and ready to fight your boy. Floyd Joy wanted no part, and don't give me no shit about Margarito and his gloves. That was unknown at the time, and Margarito chased Floyd across the country trying to get a fight. Margarito heard that Floyd had a signing event scheduled at a mall somewhere, so he travelled to that location and brought an interpreter along. When Margarito walked in, Floyd about shitted himself. Margarito asked him face to face, when are you going to fight me. Floyd said ' we'll fight, I'll have to arrange it but we'll fight later'. 10 years passed and later never came. Floyd was scared to death of Margarito, of Paul Williams, and of Vernon Forrest. Those are the guys that a real fighter would have challenged. Instead Floyd wanted to babysit his record fighting guys like Victoriano Sosa, aging lightweight Arturo Gatti, aging lightweight Marquez, old Carlos Baldomir, Philipp N'Dou, Gregorio Vargas, Justin Juuko and many others that for the most part nobody has heard off today or at the time for that matter.
MrMarco855 he ducked no one and what's so funny about this argument is the fact that the same could be said about the other opponents. There's always going to be an excuse, sports fans are used to it by now. He retired years ago, it's 2020 and people are still upset that he was the best of his era. The fact that you're whining and crying about another man's success says a lot about your character.
how blind are you bro? he avoided the uppercut nicely but got caught literally immediately with a strong left hook. You niggas clearly don't box lmfao hahaha
zeneruera your don’t know boxing he made him miss the uppercut on purpose (which he knew he could do) for cotto to over throw which he did so mayweather can shoot the look hook to the body or to the head
It was a tough fight but not a close fight. I see some people that don't understand the difference. I don't mean you. I'm just saying I actually hear people that thinks a tough fight means someone barely won. He won by a long shot but he had to work for it
@@prajeeths2131 pretty sure everyone says Larry Holmes destroyed Ali. Not sure why that is relevant though. The outcome of the rematch was not controversial at all though

Cotto's fan here... But loved the way Mayweather apprached this match. He put more power behind his punches, was willing in the exanges, was balanced on attack and defense. Some say that this wasn't a typical masterpiece ny Floyd, or that he took some unneccesary punches but, he was fighter-boxer-genious that Night. After that fight, no doubt that he would remain undefeated the rest of the way. Floyd so damn great that no fighter 175 under could best him. Just thinking... How about a young-prechamp André Ward and Floyd bout? By the way, the round girls were of extreme quality.
Mayweathers most entertaining fight because the opponent was actually good enough to fight him even though it may be mayweathers widest win in terms of rounds, hard to give cotto more than 2 rounds, mayweather earned those rounds well and the clash of styles makes a really really good fight.
Raoul Akhtar couldn't agree more , he made it 10 times more entertaining to watch than manny paquiao did, i dont understand why people always blame floyd for keeping to his style, its got to be the opponents that come forward. and i think cotto did it respectably in this fight just not enough to be effective
sonnytheboxer yes. fans who say floyds fights are boring are either not boxing fans or they are heavily influenced by the racist and corrupt media. how many of his fights are actually boring. guerrero was probably boring compared to his other fights, not his fault. so what. pacquiao vs rios was boring compared to his other fights. doesnt even matter.
William Elliott I agree I would say he looked best against corrales and canelo but I would say cotto is his most entertaining fight, maidana 1 was also very entertaining some more were hatton, ndou, augustus, ortiz (altho it was probably crap live), dela hoya, marquez, manfredy, chavez, these are all exciting fights in my opinion
It's amazing seeing how he was slipping punches in close like that and coming back with that right hand and left uppercut. I mean against that calibre of fighter in Cotto that he was facing and also to be 35 years old at the time is just incredible. It was a performance for the ages. Miguel Cotto fought his ass off !! And could only win two rounds against Mayweather.
a few things from this fight 1. floyd didnt lose a round until round 6 2. cotto's flurries were not landing they were glancing off of floyd's shoulders all night 3. floyd LOVES the ropes, its important to understand that floyd is like a spider, he lures guys into the ropes and they get their 3 punch flurries off and he still continues to counter and jab coming off the ropes, those wild flurries leave them open to be countered and jabbed to death, most guys just cover up and wait for the other guy to punch himself out. floyd punches out of the corner and off the ropes. 4. floyd could have taken cotto out probably in the 10th, cotto was gassed and it was evident in round 12. 5. this is probably floyd's best fight that showed his ring IQ, skill and ability to be an aggressive fighter whenever he wants, floyd used maybe 3 different guards in this fight, when he is in high guard he is LETHAL. when he is aggressive he lands mass amounts of punches, his punch timing is impeccable. 6. he worked the jab all night and it kept cotto at bay and made him have to fight a "maidana" style type of fight trying to smother floyd but that never works. 7. floyd is probably the best fighter of all time that can fight offensively in a defensive position in the corner or on the ropes, he can basically fight in a phone booth. 8. if you think this fight was closer that 10-2 you're a DCAF.
at least we saw mayweather adjust faster than any other pure boxer. if floyd's hands were better, he would be the perfect boxer/puncher. that is what makes him a great fighter because only GOD IS PERFECT GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR TALKING SHIT AND BACKING IT UP
This is a classic fight, and one of Mayweather and Cotto's best performances. Unfortunately for Cotto, Mayweather let Cotto look good. Mayweather could have moved A LOT more if he chose to but he didn't. He stood in front of Cotto and fought off the ropes the majority of the fight. It wouldn't have been as exciting, but it would have been a much easier win for Mayweather.

Mayweather's boxing knowledge in the ring is unreal, slipping punches, catching punches, weaving punches, rolling punches, sliding punches, Footwork, head movement, reaction time, he is too good.
Ali; you on point yo. He even moves forward, close to a fighter to make him over-shoot the punch. Watch him make fighters punch behind his waist.
@steveninthe not even close to the best ever. He got beat by Castilo and fought his biggest rivals out of their prime.
@Nobby Barnes he's overrated. Get over it.

Cotto was definitely one of Mayweather's toughest opponents. People don't give Mayweather enough credit for his chin. He ate some big shots from Cotto.

Compton Compton Cotto made Floyd bleed his nose in this fight tho
@@maynardacosta9520 Maidana was tougher
Compton Compton mayweather himself said this fight he had to take cold showers and his body still hurt after this one
You have to watch Floyd’s fights in slow motion to truly appreciate his skill.

Probably Floyd’s best performance, it showed his ability to adapt to new standings and how great his IQ is. Crazy cause he was about to be 35 years old here and wasn’t even in his full prime
He was past his prime prime
Nah, Diego Corrales was his best performance. Corrales at the time was almost as good as Cotto was here and Floyd was WAY more dominant against him.

This is a fight that needs a rematch. Not because it Floyd should have lost , but because it was a really good fight.
Manuel Sanchez Well said
Manuel Sanchez You need to see how Pacquiao blasted Cotto again.
Manuel Sanchez I am a bit of a Pacquiao fan - don't know why everybody hates on him though... Although the excuse about his shoulder was bad
Yes - you are right Cotto did way better than Pacquiao did against Mayweather
At least you are praising Cotto though and not calling Pacquiao fans 'casuals' (I am GGG&crawford guy btw)
P.S - dunno about you, doesn't that tick you off when most of Floyd fans (who are casual fans who like him because of his race) go around calling ever one else 'casuals' when you say...
I dont like him as a person but like the way he boxes - my favorite back in the days when he was pretty boy was dela hoya
Would have been nice to see a fight between a more in form and prolific dela hoya with floyd - think that would have made a good fight.

@@MrMarco855 like?
Drug addict and bullshitter is my take.
He so skilled no one sees when he's breaking the rules? You don't know them it's the way he likes his lil culo
30:40 that adjustment with the right hand behind cotto's guard is a thing of beauty
He was smacking that man's ear with precision that round. He really had some great combos throughout the fight both on the outside and inside on the ropes.

Cotto should've fought back with Maywheather in rounds 1-5.

His style, its just.... pure science, the fients and distance management with the lead hand, footwork, creates angles, remains defensive from every position he's put in, best offensive from the philly shell I've ever seen, accuracy, this dude is the GOAT, and all of you will realise this after he's gone(like always happens)
He has good defense because he's scared as hell. Watch his facial expression when being attacked against the ropes. He's a punk.

@@MrMarco855 he has good defense cause he's scared, ok bro.

His head was exposed
Floyd said himself this man was the toughest he ever fought
Kingswag817 and he’s said many other things too about different fighters and then he said that none of them were hard so I wouldn’t believe that 💀
Kingswag817 not true. He said cotto was tough but Emmanuel Augustus was his toughest fight. That’s in his own words.
Maidana
MrMarco855 he ducked no one and what's so funny about this argument is the fact that the same could be said about the other opponents. There's always going to be an excuse, sports fans are used to it by now. He retired years ago, it's 2020 and people are still upset that he was the best of his era. The fact that you're whining and crying about another man's success says a lot about your character.

It's crazy seeing him adapt style like he does.
That’s why he never lost. He has so many tricks up his sleeve. If you figure him out, he’ll just adapt.
30:00 that defense is insanely high level
Nice defense Floyd as they always say unhittable
Wrong time stamp
a few things from this fight
1. floyd didnt lose a round until round 6
2. cotto's flurries were not landing they were glancing off of floyd's shoulders all night
3. floyd LOVES the ropes, its important to understand that floyd is like a spider, he lures guys into the ropes and they get their 3 punch flurries off and he still continues to counter and jab coming off the ropes, those wild flurries leave them open to be countered and jabbed to death, most guys just cover up and wait for the other guy to punch himself out. floyd punches out of the corner and off the ropes.
4. floyd could have taken cotto out probably in the 10th, cotto was gassed and it was evident in round 12.
5. this is probably floyd's best fight that showed his ring IQ, skill and ability to be an aggressive fighter whenever he wants, floyd used maybe 3 different guards in this fight, when he is in high guard he is LETHAL. when he is aggressive he lands mass amounts of punches, his punch timing is impeccable.
6. he worked the jab all night and it kept cotto at bay and made him have to fight a "maidana" style type of fight trying to smother floyd but that never works.
7. floyd is probably the best fighter of all time that can fight offensively in a defensive position in the corner or on the ropes, he can basically fight in a phone booth.
8. if you think this fight was closer that 10-2 you're a DCAF.
I totally agree💯💯
actually, i thought Cotto won round 5 and called 6 even. i also gave Cotto round 8. 9-2 and one even in favor of Floyd.
Mayweather was even better in the Canelo fight. Cotto made Mayweather feel awkward with the constant jabs to the nose.
You smart.
at least we saw mayweather adjust faster than any other pure boxer. if floyd's hands were better, he would be the perfect boxer/puncher. that is what makes him a great fighter because only GOD IS PERFECT
GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR TALKING SHIT AND BACKING IT UP

@@andraegarcia5104 hahahaha. In other words, he didn't allow your guys to punch his face and win. 😹😹😹 How idiotic
