    Cotto's poker face is brilliant. Notice that every time he gets hit really hard, he plants his feet, ducks a bit, and moves his upper body smoothly like he's okay, even though he isn't. That's some veteran shit right there. He knows how to look OK even when he's hurt.

      Kinda true but as a fan I believe the clottey fight was almost clotteys. That was one of his best fights ever. To be honest I didn't like his sequel with margarito. Margarito was lucky to get a shot with his journey man record at the time. But yeah the clottey fight was epic, a movie of its own. He had one eye fucked up and clotteys leg was fucked up and they made it all the way to the bell.

      Funny enough, I think this version of Cotto was the closest to beat Canelo, even with this age. Cotto in 2015 had a great footwork and stamina, better stamina than even in his prime when he was gassing out on the later rounds. Roach really prepared Cotto well.

    • @dbodooley
      @dbodooley 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lemon26 exactly! It’s Canelos head movement and shoulder rolls that makes him so hard to hit. Lomachenko is extremely difficult to hit because of his footwork. Mayweather with his defensive style, jab then straight right then back to quick defense makes him very hard to hit and with Canelo its his shoulder roll and how he turns his head going away from punches to decrease the power behind them.

I know ward is ready or at least he says he is but in all fairness ward is a technician he is like mayweather just higher weight class (I believe) very technical and a sturdy boxer...not a fighter! a fighter will go into a ring and not worry about defending that much (haggler/hearns) but either way - someone A class needs to step up to GGG or he needs to step his game up to prove he is this legitimate bad ass

    Cotto was a great boxer, I don't think he really got the respect he deserved by many and was somewhat overlooked among all the other great fighters. Sad really and I really miss Miguel Cotto and I think many people disrespected him as a boxer/fighter and disrespected his power. He had great footwork and boxed well if he won or lost and he was a decent fighter.

    The problem with Cotto was he spent too much time on his toes circling Canelo, he can't sit on his punches if he is punching while on his toes, therefore he wasn't hurting Canelo and Canelo was not respecting his power. He needed to step inside and get some combinations to the body and then move. So Canelo would think twice before stepping forward.

I guess he feels he would not be able to outpunch GGG not to talk of matching GGG's stamina, or, that Swarmer>boxer logic i don't know, but that fight must happen sooner rather than later. Fighters shouldn't be allowed to duck as they see fit. We want a tornament where all he top guns fight each other so we can see the best, all this ducking rubbish is not good for thr sport.

    Fighters like Canelo make me wish that boxing would go back to "same day" weigh-ins. Enough of all this "rehydrating by 15 - 25 lbs" crap. Boxers nowadays focus more on draining their weights than actual boxing technique. We have fighters fighting 2 divisions lower than they should. Canelo and all the others don't even realize that continuing to do so will cause long-term damage to their bodies in the future. Boxers should fight around their walk-around weight IMO. Move up to middleweight already, Canelo, instead of creating your own Caneloweight division (155lbs) to bully Welterweights and avoid GGG. *smh*
