Hey Steve, just a little correction of the battery's SOC. The useable range is from 13-90% and not 30-90% as you said. Hook up any OBD2 dongle and any app, you'll get confirmation. Nice work all around 👌✌️
That's fascinating! I mean, it does make sense given the range. But it's bizarre that the app reports 30 - 100% charge by contrast (obviously wrong on the top end, but apparently also on the bottom end). Thanks for the correction though. I'll be sure to mention this.
The smart key disable is gonna be handy when I wash the car…maybe it’s just me, but the smart key lock/unlock that happens during a hand car wash can be annoying.
I have a 2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime and was NEVER told that you can't remote start with the KEY FOB and that the Toyota App start is just for climate only...it doesn't work half of the time!
The car acts a lot like an EV in this respect; although there is an ICE in the vehicle, it acts like it doesn't even have one when you do the "remote start" using the Hold for A/C button. I suppose it would be useful if you could force it to start the ice also in the event that it's extremely cold outside or something, but for the most part, I do find it incredibly nice that the vehicle can be started in enclosed spaces and precondition itself due to the fact that it doesn't have to rely on the engine.
thank you for the video! Do you know how to fix the issue of video and sound lag? :/ everytime I play a video, the video and sound don't match up and it drives me crazy!
So there's a 1 to 3 second delay on Bluetooth to many vehicles by design, and Wireless Android Auto adds extra latency due to simultaneous Bluetooth (for calls) and Wi-Fi (for data) usage. CarPlay’s video restrictions also force apps like TH-cam to use Bluetooth-only audio, worsening delays. I'm not certain, but plugging into the USB port for wired AA/CarPlay *might* fix the problem -- but I haven't tried it. It's too bad cars don't have AUX ports anymore, because bluetooth receivers with aptX Low Latency codecs (e.g., TaoTronics TT-BA012) can reduce delay to
If you live in certain areas, such as in California or in New England, I believe you can get it slightly below MSRP, but it's still not very easy. And it's usually only a thousand or $2,000 underneath, and that's for the very lucky. The main discount is the lease cash incentive that Toyota provides, which is $6,500, or closer to probably $5,700 net after all fees are considered. That is a substantial discount indeed, and one of the primary reasons why I wound up buying not one but two of these vehicles over the course of a year.
How did you know about the dealer control functions such as the changing of the cooling seat fan speed and keyless window and sunroof open feature? Do you have a contact in the shop who told you this? The reason I ask is I want to know more about TPMS, and is there any shop dealership settings on thier computer diagnostic screen such as enable or disable this system totally. Also the cooling seat fan speed in my R4P XSE with tech package is great but my 2023 R4H limited seat cooling is very poor and I don’t hear the fan at all on high. I think the dealer needs to check the settings in this case.
Similar to our runners, this is my video, you need one of these OBDII’s , I will do a video soon on my rav4 prime Unlock Hidden Features on Your 5th Gen 4runner ! th-cam.com/video/wHOu_QH08jQ/w-d-xo.html
You have to hold the lock button on the car door and the seat button at the same time, not the lock button on the remote. Full disclosure, I didn't figure that out, I saw it on Brian Ruperti's TH-cam channel. Also: I got so excited when you started to talk about the HUD polarization. I thought you were going to tell me a way to change the polarization of the HUD. But alas it was not to be. Edit2: Wow, just saw your map, we live near each other lol , hello neighbor RAV4 Prime brother!
Woah, THANKS! That's awesome... and really confusingly worded in the instructions! Haha. You in Louisville? That's wild - I've only seen one other R4P in our entire area, and they happen to live in our same neighborhood. Hope you're loving yours also!
@@OtherSteve I am loving it so much! I'm over by Iroquois Park, so not down the street, but yeah, in Louisville. My R4P is an XSE with the 2 tone Silver and Piano Black. I'm not typically a Silver car lover, but man I think this thing is gorgeous.
@@BrownCoatFan Wish mine was silver. My first one was, the 2023 XSE without premium package. I certainly didn't need the premium package, but due to some crazy life circumstances, specifically the fact that my wife's Honda Pilot had a failed transmission that was going to cost us $10,000, and I received a text message from a dealer that exact same day about this particular RAV4 Prime coming into the stock, I actually now own two R4Ps. Lol. Great car. It's really one of a kind.
@@OtherSteve Did this work for you? I figured out the "trick" I think. You have to press and hold the profile number and then press the lock button on the door. If you press the lock button first, it does not work.
@@BrownCoatFan I believe I got it working using this method, yes. At the very least, it provided a feedback tone. I haven't tried switching between the settings automatically yet but I'm 99% sure this means it's working now. Appreciate the clarification, I gave you a shoutout in the description as thanks ;-)
Not in the traditional sense, because there is no reason to start the engine remotely on a hybrid, but instead to simply put the vehicle in "ready mode", which indicates that power is being drawn from the onboard traction battery. In this mode, conditioning of air can take place, which is more or less the only reason a person would want a remotely start the vehicle anyway.
@@OtherSteve I live in Wisconsin and use remote start to warm my vehicle before I leave in the wintertime. It doesn't really work with this RAV4 Prime. :(
Is there a way to know how many of the vehicle's total miles were driven in EV mode? I've got 72K on my '21 XSE. I estimate about 40k were in EV mode. I'd like to know definitely though.
I've heard from others on Facebook that there's no way of knowing how many miles were in EV mode. Personally, I don't really care about that. I just want to know how many kms I go between fill ups, that's way more important info for me. I've only filled up once during my first 7000 kms and I still have over 600 km of gasoline left on my 2nd tankful.
It's low-ish. Probably closer to 30mph in temperate weather if I had to guess, or maybe slightly higher. It of course should only be used in scenarios where the driver knows they will benefit from later EV use, such as if they will be waiting for a long time in the vehicle or driving through quiet neighborhood streets or a park or similar.
@@victorthangdo3303Yeah. It's no stress whatsoever. But of course, you never have to charge at all to use the vehicle; without any charging, it's basically a RAV4 Hybrid (in HV mode).
I know Toyota recommends and promotes it to drive EV. Until the battery is discharged, and then you're in h remote butt. I honestly don't think that's the best way I've owned. Many priuss, prius primes and rav 4 primes. And in my opinion, the car drives way better wit as full of a battery, as you can get an in HV mode. You're still gonna get 50 plus miles per gallon. Easily and the car drives tremendously better, and then I just don't think it's smart to deplete the battery and then drive on hv mode, even though it's not really h. V mode, it's more like a regular four cylinder, but i'm telling you h.V mode with as full of batteries, you can get over fifty percent is the best way to drive the cars. And you'll maintain the battery health. 'cause you're not completely draining it every single time. The car gets extremely louder. When the electric battery has been depleted to the state that it wanted to to go to hv. Just a pro.Tip, then you know, try it out.You won't regret it.
Damn blowing through those stop signs awesome feature of Prime Steve lol
If you use TH-cam Music Prime, everything works perfectly, including the steering wheel buttons. This mode button trick is useful.
As someone with a 2019 hybrid limited I can see that Toyota has made lots of improvements over the years to the Rav4

Unlike remote start/remote climate, this feature simply defaults back to the previous cabin temp setting when the car was last powered off.
