  • I bought 10 tools on Amazon that are suppose to make glue ups "easier". Some delivered on that idea and some...well...just watch the video.
    If any of the tools are interesting to you I've gone ahead and added all the links down below.
    *As an Amazon Associate, I may earn commissions from sales generated from the following links*
    The Complete Sili Glue Kit - amzn.to/3qurHra
    FastCap Glu-Bot - amzn.to/3Ys9N4V
    Titebond White Gallon 5036 All-Purpose Glue - amzn.to/3Qz8uis
    Titebond II Wood Glue, 16-Ounces - 2 Pack - amzn.to/3OV4Yhq
    Sili Stick Dual Profile Brush 2 Pack - amzn.to/47qvu9v
    Sili Mat 23-1/2" x 60" Silicone Workbench Mat - amzn.to/3OzkD4v
    HONGDUI GD05 Woodworking Glue Shovel - amzn.to/3DSJN9i
    DCT 20 mL Wood Glue Syringe with Glue Tips - amzn.to/3QAuPfz
    Sili Glue Roller with Sili Glue Tray - amzn.to/3QBEVgq
    180 mL Portable Woodworking Glue Roller with Stand - amzn.to/3KAdbF3
    Sili Glue Pod and 3 Sili Micro Glue Brushes - amzn.to/3QyK0Wy
    Rockler Wood Glue Applicator Set - amzn.to/3scuoxO
    If you're still reading this you may be one of those special people that are watching the entire video. I appreciate you. If you jumped all the way to the end...I get it. Aint nobody got time for that. (maybe consider watching in 1.25x speed)
    Regardless. This video was originally going to be close to 45 minutes long. I cut a lot of footage out to try and keep the video moving along. My ask to you is please leave a comment on what an ideal video length is.
    And if you're in a hurry. Just give the video a thumbs DOWN if it was too long or slow paced. If you like it just the way it is a thumbs UP would be great!
    Well thats it. Thank you all for watching the video.

    Read a few of the comments and didn't see this mentioned, but the the caps for the Rockler kit will actually fit right onto a bottle of Titebond, so you don't even need to use the funnel or provided bottle if you don't want to.

    I use the small roller for gluing edge of boards together(cutting bds). Squirt glue on edge and roll out an even layer of glue.

    • @JasonGrissom
      @JasonGrissom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They arent sponsoring me yet so No! 😂 Honestly I've had the original sili bruch for probably 5 or 6 years now. I've used it on probably a few dozen projects with a bunch of different titebond glue products and it's held up really well. So that i'd recommend. Other than that seems like a lot of stuff is a bit gimicky. The mat is a silicone mat. So it'll work but there is most certaintly cheaper options.

    • @quadsquadracingable
      @quadsquadracingable 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JasonGrissom I've been using silicone cooking mats as a silicone mat. I have 2 smaller ones about 14"x18" and one that's 20"x30". I think it was for a BBQ grill liner or something. I actually found them on clearance from Walmart so that was cool. I would like a big one or two like that for craft night at my house. My nieces come and paint rocks, make candles or stuff like that and it would definitely be a great way to keep it cleaner

    • @JasonGrissom
      @JasonGrissom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@quadsquadracingable oh sweet! Yeah when I have my son come paint a gift or something in my shop I just roll out some packing paper. I have a big ol roll of it I inherited somehow. 😂 Works great for things that arent TOO viscous. I already coughed up the 50 bucks for the Sili mat so thats what i'll be using for awhile. One good thing about it that can also be a negative about it is: It doesnt have a way of retaining a large spill of epoxy or liquid like the mats I've seen from Total boat and Rockler. That said it also makes it very easy to remove things without having to try and get thinga out of all the crevices. But maybe a lip around the edge would've been a good meet in the middle. For my resin printer I have some "slap mats". They are smooth like the sili mat bit have a 16th or so inch thick lip all the way around that helps with any spills. I think you can get those for like 8 bucks or so on Amazon.

    I actually have that kit from Rockler. Still in the box! Just can't retire the trusty Gluebot. Also have one of those silicon mats from Rockler. I assume equivelant in function to the one you demonstrated. Not likely in price though as proud as Rockler can get of their products. Great presentation and information. I really liked the use of acrylic in the demonstrations.

      @JasonGrissom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Don! Yeah I had looked at the Rockler kit several times and would always pass it up thinking "enh. Maybe later." This video was finally a good excuse to purchase it. I can definitely see it working its way into more glue ups but old habits die hard. I'll probably be a dirty yellow finger guy for awhile longer. 🤣
      I was actually much more impressed with the Gluebot this go around. I'll be hangin' onto it for sure. Again. Thank you for showing the support Don. It truly means a lot to me. 🙏

    I have a scraper thing that uses the same type of square carbide tips for removing glue and I have also not found it to be very useful. Once the glue is totally hardened the tip will just kind of slip off, and it's hard to have enough control to apply enough force to remove any glue without flying off and gouging the wood. It does work when the glue is set but not hardened, but kind of anything will work if you're able to time it right to remove the excess at that point. Maybe there's a technique to it or some use case where it's super helpful, but if so I haven't figured it out yet.

    • @JasonGrissom
      @JasonGrissom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for sharing Sean! I'm happy to hear that it wasn't just me. Typically I use the back end of the sili brush or one of my plastic squeeges to get the glue while its still soft but sometimes I need to take clamps off to get everywhere and I don't want to do it too early in case the joint isnt set yet. So inevitably I end up with some hardened glue here and there. I'm with you. I was hoping this would be my savior for those situations but unfortunately I think i'll just have to stick to my cheap "glue scraping" chisels. 🤣

      @JasonGrissom hahaha! Don't need any glue for the project you don't do. Might need to put that on a shirt.
      I got away from PVA glues a while back because I've not had the good fortune of having a climate controlled shop. Dang stuff would set up too fast for my liking in the heat, or take forever during the winter. Poly glue ain't for everyone, but since switching, I find I'm not in such a rush, I don't need 2-3 different types of wood glue in the shop, and it sets up strong every time

      Thanks Lee! I mean for 9-10 bucks it is a pretty neat glue bottle. My 1st one I think I just left sitting for too long in a California garage during the summer (110+) and the glue got all coagulated and I could just never get it cleaned out well enough. I'm going to try and be better with this one. Should be easier in the PNW too. 😁

    Peanut butter!
    Do longer comments equate to better engagement? Perhaps its the content of the comment? I'm not sure, but I can sit here and type all day if it helps any. I could go for the record, I wonder, what's the longest a comment can be? Hopefully I will reach the end without accidentally submitting the comment. No one wants a premature comment submission. "Squeeze and pull", title of the video? Maybe, I might get some interesting views. I wonder how wildly different you could AB test a video, while still being relevant. This comment has really diverted from the content of the video, I'm watching glue products and talking about content creation. I really should be working, but this is just too good, so I guess I'll keep writing. At this point it's more a stream of consciousness. I just looked it up, google says the limit of a comment is 4096 characters, although I don't see a comment limit or count anywhere on here, so I'll keep going. I just checked in a doc, I’m at 990 characters, 1007, 1013, 1019… I don’t think I have it in me to go all the way to 4096, sorry. Fun video, I've purchased most of those. Personally, the gluebot, sili tray and brush are the three I use the most, or at all. I guess I used the roller a few times, but it smeared the glue more than it rolled it. I do like to use the glubot just because it feeds from the bottom and makes application when fighting gravity easy. The brush just keeps my hands from being stained yellow and the tray keeps glue off my surfaces when I put the brush down. I wonder if Titbond wold put glubot out of business if they started selling the glue in bottles with bottom feed straws or something. Maybe they are in business together. Look at that, I'm close to 2000 now, maybe I can make it to 4096... naw. I enjoyed the video, keep them coming. Thumbs up, liked, shared, subscribed. Anything else I can toggle... That's what she said... Jinx!
