  • Due to high demand we are offering HOPE training again!
EAPO is pleased to collaborate with Dr. Jennifer Storey, a Forensic Psychologist specializing in violence risk assessment and interpersonal violence, to host a 3 day virtual training (April 30, May 1 & 3, 2024) on the use of the Harm to Older Persons Evaluation (HOPE) tool.
Dr. Storey, author of HOPE, will facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions to provide participants the skills and tools for assessing risk of older adults and their perpetrators, as well as empower providers by building their capacity for response and intervention when supporting older adults at-risk or experiencing elder abuse.
This training will guide participants in the completion of a comprehensive assessment of risk for future older adult mistreatment (OAM) and in the development of a management plan to reduce the likelihood of continued OAM. The comprehensive nature of the HOPE precludes its use by many frontline practitioners who are tasked with triaging a concern of OAM and implementing preliminary intervention while referring the case for more in-depth assessment.
Dr. Storey developed the HOPE, a risk assessment tool for older adult mistreatment, based on the empirical literature. The HOPE tool is a structured professional judgment tool, that provides guidelines for use by social care, health, and mental health, mediation, law enforcement, criminal justice, and security personnel in the assessment of risk for OAM.
Dr. Storey will provide participants a
    “Certificate of Completion”
to verify their use of the HOPE tool in practice.
