Got to talk to him years ago. I asked him if Chris would come back and he said "baby steps.. he likes what we are doing and his kids have never seen him play on stage" He said he has a bunch of old demos with Chris singing lead vocals!
Queensryche is one of the few bands I grew up listening to that I actually still listen too and like even more each year great job and thanx for many years of entertainment......... and I dropped my snack sheeesh ! tastes ok still...
His guitar reminds me of Phil Collen's signature guitar. Both are strats, H S S pickup combo, maple neck, titanium parts (although Phil uses a full titanium Floyd Rose even the wammy bar and string tree are titanium just to match) The biggest similarity is the neck pickup. Both Phil's and his use a sustainer pickup 👍🏻
Jon Koh please have Michael Wilton contact me i have his original scullbones guitar 1 of the 2 he had made. It has a black frett board with sculls on it. I got it from guitar center. Hollywood in 87 or 88 The guy that sold it to me said it was his other guitar that there was only 2 at that time and i have the other one. I can send pics of it to him so if you can please have him contact me Thanks Sherry_paulino@yahoo.com
I just watched the Queensryche monsters of rock cruise last night on TH-cam. Such an amazing guitar and player and band. Years ago I got to meet the band after a show just before Jeff split. Eddie and Michael were super chill, Scott was there then gone, Geoff was not as personable as I would’ve hoped.
I love Michael and his contribution to music and the influence his playing has had on my own, but sheesh, the guy's got the personality of a plain bagel.
I've met him and hung out w/ him a lot before the show and after, and he's a little more reserved and quiet. But, I loved hanging out getting him to talk about the 80's and kinda laughing at the whole image thing etc. He's a really cool, chill guy... one of the if not the, nicest "rockstar" i've met and hung out with.
My guess is he wants to keep the low E string warm. Adding titanium bridge saddles will brighten up the tone. But that's my theory I could very well be wrong.
So Michael, I know you have heard this probably before, is Chris degarmo or Tate mad about break up, is their anything you can add. Does degarmo still write songs?
Crazy he's using 3 of those red high-tension springs. I only use 2 on my 7 string(with a regular tension for the high side) and I'm using .058/.046/./.036/.026/.016/.011/.009/. (standard tuning). Guess he likes a really tight feel on the bar
I use slinky 11's and I always use three noiseless springs, just like what he's using. It does give you more control of the bar/vibrato. But everyone has their own style and likes.
Other than your guitar my rig is much like yours. PRS-Kemper with Marshall Astoria Profile-100 watt EL34 Slave amp. I also use the JC120 for my clean stuff with a DryBell Vibe. Great Taste Michael.
The Roland jc 120 is the best clean stereo chorus amp ever made hands down. Ive got the fender twin reverb 65 reissue and its great to but the Roland jazz chorus is night n day better in my personal opinion.
I have a Jackson Japanese Dinky in which I retrofitted a Floyd Rose Trem with a 32mm Floyd block and red springs. It has the same guitar strings gauges Michael uses, but my spring needed to be pulling more to have the trem flat not tilted forward. Compared to Wilson's setting. Is there any reason for that? Or, should I use lighter gauge strings?
Huge queensryche fan since rage for order...and I too have a tough time with any reincarnation of any band I love. Geoff was so unique . Only problem is ,the band had no choice if they wanted to carry on. Geoff couldn’t do Geoff anymore. And the last album with him was cringe at best.
great guitar but the one sold to the public is 2k dollars and is made in china with fake ass floyd rose tremolo the usa model is not even on the market just this guy has it,im ok with a 500 buck guitar too this is an overrated luxury
The esp ltd models were no where near 2k. Mine was made in Korea and it was 900 bucks. The later models were made in Indonesia or possibly china, and the specs weren't as good.
Been a fan of this guy since the 80s. Super nice guy. So glad he's doing interviews.
Got to talk to him years ago. I asked him if Chris would come back and he said "baby steps.. he likes what we are doing and his kids have never seen him play on stage" He said he has a bunch of old demos with Chris singing lead vocals!
Thanks for carrying on the Queensryche music Michael! Love that ESP guitar.
Such a chill, precise and concise dude man...
What a nice guitar
My favorite of all the QR members. I love to watch him play
Always be the best guitarist!!!!!!!!
My absolute favourite band.
They're great!
Wilton is one of my favourite guitarists, thanks for this interview! I love this channel!
So glad you enjoyed it! :)

Thank you…!!
I’ll keep my eyes on your tour and looking fwd to some new stuff . Thx
I saw Michael and this guitar, along with the rest of the guys in Queensryche in Troy, Ohio last night. Great show! Great guys.
Nice. Glad to hear you had fun!
I saw ur guitar glowing at ur concert in dbq iowa 2021. It was cool!
Queensryche's Michael Wilton shows off his signature guitar!
Who should we film with next?
Warren DeMartini!
Digital Tour Bus next ? brain head welch.
Nancy Edwards We'll try, but it's honestly very unlikely. It's not up to us, it's always up to the bands/artists.
True.
That would be awesome!!

That's a pretty badass guitar. I dig that Hard driver pickup, sounds like a really cool design.
Totally agree!
Down to earth, knows his gear. Seems cool af.
Definitely!
Got to see them three times. My hair on my arm still stand up when I listen to their ones.
Michael seems like a cool dude!
He's always treated us well!

Really cool Mike. Thanks
I am proud of Michael and he is amazing! This is a awesome video !
So glad you liked the video!!

Yeah... so are most musical geniuses douchebag. Dumb people tend to be more open
That is the funniest comment I've ever seen lol.
what a stupid comment.
@@andredegiant3876 the genius' in Queensryche were Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate
1:40 weird that he didn't use a titanium saddle for the low E string. Did he run out of cash or what?
Not sure.
higler420 not sure it's compatible with the EVH D tuna
My guess is he wants to keep the low E string warm. Adding titanium bridge saddles will brighten up the tone. But that's my theory I could very well be wrong.
D tuna doesn't like that titanium mess
Not compatible with the titanium saddle.
1:50 one hell of a device Michael has in his guitar.
Every Floyd Rose Guitarist would love to have this tuner in their guitar.
🤘
Michael says he is running his Kemper into "a separate speaker for sustain" on stage. What speaker is that if anyone knows?
Not sure, sorry!
So Michael, I know you have heard this probably before, is Chris degarmo or Tate mad about break up, is their anything you can add. Does degarmo still write songs?
love my Michael!!!

Very cool guy!

Everyone's got their own way of doing things, which is why I love filming Gear Masters episodes.
I use slinky 11's and I always use three noiseless springs, just like what he's using. It does give you more control of the bar/vibrato. But everyone has their own style and likes.
Why did you change the frett board? mine is the black frett board with sculls
Not sure. He's had a few versions of the guitar.
I bought the second one made in the 80s at guitar center it was his backup guitar, there were only 2 at the time first made before 1989 sometime.
wooohooo finally!
:D
That guitar is fucking wicked
It most definitely is!
I became a Queensryche fan when I saw them open for Sabbath in 2007.
Nice!
im gonna be going to the irving plaza, NY concert on 3/9/18. See you there Micheal! (i got VIP :D)
Nice, have fun!
been like 2 years and i did
My favorite axe.
Every time I see Michael's main sig ESP guitar, I just wanna scream REVOLUTION CALLING!!!! Is that wrong?
Nope...it is the correct thing to do
REVOLUTION CALLING!!!!!!!
Nope...speak the word.
I remember now...
I've had enough, and I want out!.

The original guitar from mindcrime
Do you keep in touch with Chris DeGarmo? I met you and him once back in the 90s. Both of ya were totally cool dudes.
Not sure if he's kept up with him or not.
nice dude..
:)

He seems uncomfortable being in front of the camera I think
Definitely. He's been interviewed plenty of times over the years.
So are most musical geniuses... what's your point? He spends most of his time writing riffs rather than interviews dipshit
* Edit: "I think"
He explained everything and anything EXCEPT he never once mentioned the body wood
Sorry!
@@digitaltourbus lol that's ok, not your fault, and THANKS for the reply 🤘😎🤘
@@underthethrone668 No problem!

Wow another guitar company advertisement! I've clicked on both queensryche videos just to them to try to sell me their guitar brands, LOL!
Isn't that basically what bands talking about gear is? They talk about why the have it, how they use it and what they like about it.
I was hoping to hear about his amplification gear
is there a button there that brings tate back in the band and order is restored in the universe?
Don’t forget Chris DeGarmo
love Michael's playing and a lot of respect for the rest of the guys but Queensryche died after the loss of both Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate.
Huge queensryche fan since rage for order...and I too have a tough time with any reincarnation of any band I love. Geoff was so unique . Only problem is ,the band had no choice if they wanted to carry on. Geoff couldn’t do Geoff anymore. And the last album with him was cringe at best.

Not one stinkin note??
Michael Huff WTF ?
Have to remove the neck to adjust the truss rod?.......come on ESP, this is the 21st century FFS.
Cool interview though.
Glad you liked the video.
Well don't ever buy a Custom Shop Fender. 21st Century FFS
@@andredegiant3876 Yep, but you'd expect that from a vintage Fender custom shop version.
another socially awkward artist i love it lol
Only thing i dont like about these model n or style of esp's sre the headstocks! There so plain.. lame looking.. but thats just my personal opinion.
I wonder what a 'goodass' thing for a guitar is....
Bring back geoff
Skulls are dumb for such a guitarist of your caliber.

" In this episode Michelle Pussy Wiltings, he will show you how little skill he has and how Tate and Chris made him every cent he ever saw"
As much as I agree that Chris De Garmo and Geoff Tate were about the bulk of QR, I really like Wiltons playing.
love my Michael!!
He's awesome!
