there's taser batons you can buy that are basically this same concept. I had one that could deliver near to a million milliamps or whatever the unit of energy is, could bash people with those jagged patterns on the end, and it had a strobe/super bright flashlight on it for blinding people. Only thing is it's not handheld so I would only carry it during fall/winter where I could put it in my jacket

The debuff needs to be nerfed cos I keep scoring critical hits, seriously
The flashlight item can even be mounted on the under barrel of the gun and provide the blind debuff as well as the intimidation debuff paired by just having the gun. On top of that, in the event you have to use the gun you gain an increased accuracy stat in dark alleys as well as at LEAST a bleed debuff if not an outright KO

I worked security for 13 years. All kinds. A slim, strong torch with minor modifications was literally the best tool i have on the job. I can use it to blind, control, communicate, and if shit hits the fan, blunt force multiplier
Wrapped micro paracord around it as an alternative detainment tool, and a ring around the clip so it acts as retention the same way you find on a kerambit

You knows what’s better than a flashlight….a flashlight on your gun not only does it blind them just he say’s especially if you get a nice one that’s super bright and also has the strobe effect some have lasers as well but you get all those advantages to see what they’re doing while they can’t see shit and if they just do happen to have a gun or weapon they’re planning on attacking you with you already have some hot lead at your disposal obviously this only works if your on your own property or a cop you can’t just point guns at everyone that’s a brandishing a weapon charge but it’s the best if your able to if not it’s always nice to have a big heavy metal super bright flashlight in one hand and some mace/pepper spray in the other

To be fair, some good flashlights are powerful enough to blind you in daylight at a pretty decent range (for reference, I use the Armytek Wizard C2, range of 100m, can do strobe, which is powerful enough to blind me at 7ish meters)

I have been using it for years as a bouncer at a bar. If they can't see, they usually calm down, because if they don't... They ain't dodging anything they can't see. I use the strobe effect because it dilates and contracts your pupils and it gives enough time to act accordingly while they try to regain sight again.
This. I walk around with my Armytek C2 Wizard Pro headlight always preset on the maximum power setting and strobe light. Luckily in my country you don't get to carry guns as easily as in the US so the blinding strat it's always effective

@brrrrrr not so much. Just train with your weapon and becomes an extension of you. Holding out your hands gets heavy on its own. Though I do keep a bright mini LED flashlight on my keys. But I'm not carrying an extra standalone flashlight on me.

Doing door work as a bouncer I can confirm it gives a upperhand. If they can't see anything especially when they're used to the dark bars and night clubs they all flinch and react. Gives you plenty of time to asses and make a move

My old neighbour was a sergeant in the SAS and he told me the best self defense weapon for your bedroom is a big old flashlight with a bright beam for blinding and a hefty weight for you know what. This is completely accurate.

@@KARATEbyJesse Where I live, we have no streetlights. When it gets dark around here, it's as dark as dark can be. Add on top of that, we have Black bear, Bobcats, and other assorted critters....it's always good to see what you're dealing with.
Flashlights, Knives, etc. are TOOLS and are to be used as such. It's very disconcerting to take the dog out at 0600/6am or 18:00/6pm and step into almost complete darkness. Between our Dog and Cats, we wake up between 0500 and 0530 every morning, whether we want to or not.
if possible, move to another place and live. less stress, less worry equal happier and healthier 😉

@@rot7296 well, they need to prove that the killing was absolutely unnecessary. If you’re at home and the intruder breaks in and you drop him, you can still get by. But if its out in public and the guy you have in the process of attacking you has no visible weapon on them, you can still get by if you can prove that the battery would’ve dealt massive bodily harm to you or your family members; but blinding them would be the better option.

Pepper Spray works like a flashlight except you don't have to fight anyone now, because they're blind.
But it's less versatile. You can't just pepper spray someone behind the dumpster either.

Security guards and cops have known the effectiveness of an extremely bright light for years now, starting in the 70's with those super big "maglight" flashlights. Wouldn't you know it, Icy Mike was also a cop, so he too knows just how effective a tac-light is for self defense
In my opinion, a tactical light and pepper spray are the king and queen of non-lethal self defense. If you can't get one, get the other, but ideally you should be running both. Modern flashlights and pepper spray are compact enough to both fit in your same pocket easily if you wanted to

@@_wayward_494 I have seen plenty of police bodycam footage to know how fast a pleasant conversation can turn into a gunfight.
My dad did security he was technically allowed to have wepons he always told me that his flash light was the best weapon. He didn't need a gun of a baton. Gun violence is low in my area and he said any wepons he carried had a chance of being taken from him but his flashlight was always in his hand so they'd have to wrestle it from him. He used a large heavy light which he said was as good as a baton he ever owned.
A gun is for defending yourself from a deadly force, a flashlight is to get some time to run from an agressiv person.. its not even the same thing.

I 100% agree with it being the greatest self defense option for everyone. We spend roughly half our lives in the dark, why not carry a light
As a security in Canada we do not have guns. But we are taught to use our flashlight, you light up an area while keeping your light away from your body so if someone shoot at the light at least you are arm length away from where they are aiming and give you a good amount more chance to run away and not have lead inside you or at least not in critical area.

I've been saying this forever. No one is attacking you while they're blinded. No one will freak out because you have a flashlight in your hand.
That is just simply false. If they have committed to an attack, they are not just going to stop because of a flashlight. If you do manage to temporarily impair their vision, you still need to get out of the way and run or fight.
And the effect is temporary. Anyone crying over a bright light been shone at them is just gonna get laughed at.

Get a friend, have them blind you like this and have them hit you with slippers or something.
Literally had an altercation at night.. his friend pulled out a flashlight when I had the upper hand. Long story short I became a human punching bag and learned a valuable lesson. First.. a flashlight can become a second hand weapon. Second I carry one now it is a far better deterrence than mace or having to engage. Overall a very humbling experience.
Absolutely couldn’t agree more. I was a bouncer at a nightclub for a couple of months and this is the exact instrument I used to de-escalate situations. Worked every time.

Sometimes there's enough ambient lighting that a phone flashlight won't work but you still need a light. I always have a flashlight on me
I live in Germany and am not allowed to own or carry weapons here. My Klarus XT21X Pro 4400 lumens is the best option for self-defense. One button maximum brightness with strobes! What can I say it works! Especially ideal for women in the evening. No one gets seriously hurt and it's good to run away!
