  • I hope everyone had a great Christmas and new year! After spending Christmas in Perth I picked myself up a Kings awning for less than $150 and fit it to my Rhino-Rack using custom mounts to achieve a low profile awning.

    Hey mate, your videos are exactly what I was searching for on YT. I have a GX460 in the US that is basically a fancy Prado 150. Your mods are exactly what I was planning to do so Thank you very much

      Glad it’s helped mate! We don’t get the big v8 out here but I love some of the builds on GXOR Facebook!

      @@JS_Adventure the V8 is nice but I rather have the diesel. I just got my dobinsons IMS lift and I'm super excited.

    Hey mate, great video, I'm about to do this exact install tomorrow. I am also looked at running the bracket under the rack. Did you have to remove the rack t-bolt and nut to run the channel nut out past the backbone? The cutout where my channel nut goes into the bar is in the middle.

    Hi how did you screw into rack?

    Just wondering why you didn't invert the bracket vs cutting it and putting it under?

    Hey mate thanks. Çould you flip the L join facing downwards to reduce height? i am planning to install as well and just worried about the height as well.?

      @JS_Adventure  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it could be done but the L bracket did need some trimming to not hit the car

      Thanks mate! I picked up the rhino rack platform and backbone kit for around $1300 but had to order and wait almost a month and a half for it

    Hey mate. I’ve got the same platform and 40” inch kings slimline light bar mounted in the same spot. The wind noise from the light bar is almost unbearable. Do you have a similar issue ? If so, did you do anything about it? Cheers.

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t had any problems with wind noise with it but I have heard that others have had to adjust the brackets around a lot with trail and error to get it just right. Assuming your using stedi brackets?

    • @mwalters5828
      @mwalters5828 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to jimmy up my own as the provided brackets didn’t allow for that under platform positioning.
      I’m guessing you used Stedi’s? If so which ones? Thanks mate

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep stedi brackets are $120 and allow a lot of adjustability, they are the “stedi light bar bracket to suit rhino rack v2”. Can get other branded ones but I had heard good things about the stedi bracket

    Hi mate how are you any pics of how you mounted the lights under the rack im looking at doing the same thanks

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate if it’s the front light bar it is a stedi/rhino rack mount. If it’s the lights on the side it’s just an EBay light mounted onto a rhinorack/unistrut nut that fits into the pioneer rack. Let me know how you go and I could try and get a video up!

  • @litote9

    Did the channel nuts come with the King's mounting kit? How exactly does it attach to the rack? You don't show the top where the nut is screwed on to the bolt, but presumably the kit has another plate to cover the gap in the rack?

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kings awnings are barebones. It comes with nothing else. Channel nuts come with the rhino rack or can be purchased separately, or as a bracket kit

  • @JJO117
    @JJO117 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couldn't you just flip the brackets around?

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I remember right they clashed with the backbone mount and I wanted it as low and tucked away as possible. Have since gone to a 270 freestanding awning

      @@JS_Adventure oh true yeah it does give you that tiny extra by cutting.
