    Just wanted to say, March also has freeze built into her ultimate, it's worded the same way as Gepard's skill but with a lower chance to occur.

      Yanqings follow up attack talent also freezes with a 50ish% chance only single target tho

      March can freeze with basic attack but I've only had it proc during breaks and seldomly during counter attacks without breaking so you would probably have to really amp up her effect hit rate if you want her follow up attacks to freeze like how gepard can with his skills and basic attacks.

      @Foxiki yea ik that's why I said if you wanted her to freeze like gepard u would have to rely on follow up attacks or basic with investing hit effect rate to see if that works otherwise lol gotta rely on her ult to cheese. My account got the worst of luck for my pulls, so I have to use March or Peta and hope for the best for my ice team. Only pulled him himeko so far and the banner ends soon and no new 4 stars either beside the Sampo and Peta I pulled so gotta roll with the free ones n see how far I get.

    Something that must also be taken into consideration is, thinking about the endgame, the cycles of the MoC, and how many action points each one lasts. Having at least 134 speed, the character is able to act twice in the first cycle of each wave, something that can be very important for dps and maybe some supports. But there are also other things like skill points and characters that you really want to be slow. Anyways good video with good insights

      This implies a lack of understanding on the importance of cycle breakpoints.
      If you don't end the wave on the "bonus action", that breakpoint does nothing for you.
      Which also means that it doesn't matter on anyone who isn't a damage dealer, or someone who affects your damage dealers turns.
      Which means 134 doesn't matter unless you're 0 cycling

    Word of advice new players should watch guides like this once when they start the game to know about mechanics that exist in the game and than should re-watch ut again once they have advanced in the game a bit more so that yhe concepts gets clearer
    Also i believe what he said is actually true, its better be attacked less than to have high attack or high defence in higher levels
    Also ill probably watch this vid maybe again after 2-4 weeks

    So, if I understand correctly, if you are much slower than the boss and you lack in dps and the fight drags out, not only do they get stacking damage buff, but at some point they will attack so many more times, that you will have no chance...

    although yesterday there is another youtuber who explains a different perspective on why speed boots could be important in end game.
    Dont get me wrong.. both of you provide correct stuff..
    although I agree people have been preaching speed boots for a wrong reason.
    I think the other side of the story for why speed boots are relevant is what the game considers as "one complete cycle" especially for 3 star clearing the memory of chaos..
    not necessarily if you take two actions before enemies,, but rather take two actions on your units before the game concludes 1 cycle, regardless whether if you or the enemy moves first.

    Asta ult speed works on turn one ONLY if you spam the skill right when the fight starts, you can test it

    Looks like the safest choice is to make every support unit 135+ SPD and your DPS around 110~125 SPD, yeah, your DPS wont attack twice, but low SPD can make your enemies attack twice before your DPS unit. You can go with atk boots and low speed, using speed modifiers like asta, tingyun to speed up your DPS unit, but sounds risky IMO, something close to "high risk high reward" gameplay..

    Most realistically its whatever fucking relics you get if I have a lighting set speed boot for Jing and I've got 3 other characters to gear up I'm not sticking around for an attack boot.
    But another thing to consider is the MoC bonus, which brings a hunt/erudition character to the top after each cycle, which is 150 first cycle and 100 every cycle after that until a new wave where its 150 again. I'm not completely sure how this interacts with the current action value of the fight but you definitely need enough speed to make sure they can hit before the end of the cycle or else it feels pretty bad seeing the hunt carry be first in line next cycle before the bonus happens.

    correct me if i am wrong but for jingyuan if he dosen't have his burst he needs to use his skill 2 times before his lightning lord atk come and in order to do that ig u needs speeed boots+asta buff

    Really helpful guide. A thing to note though, I think the advance and delay formulas only apply if that is their base AV. Not a mid cycle AV. Otherwise you have to convert the AV back to distance by mutiplying it by speed, then add or subtract distance based on the delay or advance (25% is 2500 for example), then convert that new distance back to AV by dividing by speed.

    Also, hunt characters all can speed themselves up in %, looks like speed will have insane value on them. And sometimes is not about moving 2x over the enemy, is more about moving 2x in the same game turn

    This is a really great video and it’s a shame it got less than 10k views. However the premise of multiple turns is not done in the context of MOC cycles. I get this was made early in the game’s lifetime, but would you be able to make an updated video now that we understand more about the game’s systems?

    Thanks a lot. This explains a lot. By the way, saw a clip that in a perfect world, 170 spd Bronya and 101 spd dps looks very consistant. Bronya to normal att first to gen points and forward her action by 30%. Right after dps attacks, Bronya use skill on dps, giving dps 2 actions in 1 turn cycle. Can help confirm how viable?

      @@dorothelazyone9922 Bronya base SPD (99), using 5 star relics, SPD boots (25), other 5 relics, assume all start with 2 SPD substats, all roll into lowest SPD (2); 5 x (2 + 2(4)) = 50, total SPD is 99 + 25 + 50 = 174

      You should consider that Hunt characters all can modify their own speed so that strategy is good but not even close to consistent

    must go viral, extremely important info. Only one thing makes me worrying. Jing yuan should move faster than a lightning lord or you wont be able to apply +2 extra stacks from skill. So you will be losing some damage every time.

      lightning lord had 60 base speed and the only way to increase it is technique skill or ult, so you shouldnt have to worry about jing yuan going before passive proc

      @@supersploof you haven't seen how he move in the turn order. Try to count how many stacks you will make up to one cycle and how many you could do with the spd boots.

      I've found I need speed boots on him to get the stacks. Even with Tingyun speed boosting him. Otherwise I would have to dump a healer for Asta which can be dangerous.

    Yanqing can also freeze without breaking shield, its just stuck behind his follow-up attack proc under soulsteel sync, so behind another layer of rng lol. Can be consistent with certain nihility buffs in Sim Uni but def interested to see eff hit rate Geppie and Yanqing teams with Silverwolf later on. Incredible video btw

    yeah, in teams with asta and/or characters that can delay enemy actions speed boots can potentially be seen as optional for many fights. but with teams without good, reliable speed manipulation those speed boots look quite tempting just so it is harder for the bosses to get a double turn on you and clapping some foxian cheeks

It felt always a bit off when people said that Seele should not have Speed boots, or other Hunt characters like Dan Hang - coz 1st situation, but also second...speed is arguably one of thier best atribute so why not buff that even more...its kinda like saying their hit hard enough so lets not actually focus on their dmg....

    For all the problems with gacha I really like HYV's game design philosophy which is inspired by Nintendo, which is that the battle system should be easy to pick up and intuitive, but the underlying system is actually pretty dank and a good rabbit hole to min max / TC around. I remember how another CC (won't name) was complaining at launch about HSR's characters only having 3 action choices and it being 'not complex / strategic enough', which turns out to be a terrible take. HSR's systems that I am really getting engaged in learning more about are the SP economy and how that drives team comping (similar to rotations in GI) and Qingque's dynamic skill usage. (the min max math essentially involves Markov chains and gets pretty dank, and it reminds me heavily of Childe's dynamic CD)
    Great overview on basics of speed and I sat through all of video as well, quality content

    Question tho i heard action value is set to a maximum of 150 for the first cycle and 100 VA for other cycles in memory of chaos
    So i am confused is there a limit for action value for each turn? Or it's how you explained it AV goes higher each turn?

      yes at the start on cycle 0 which is the first cycle action value cap is 150 and from the next its always +100. so yes if you have around 161 speed on jing you cant go mutple times but there's a catch his stacks makes lightning lord go faster aswell and that's his primary source of dmg. so it might still be better to build energy recharge link rope and atk% boots to constantly use his ult on every turn if not you can use bronya action advance forward to cheese two turns with his skill and get max stacks that way

    Can you explain what decides the end of a turn? If my Seele has a lot of speed and attacks twice in 1 turn...what actually decided the end of a turn?
    Btw, I felt like I was stupid thinking that the speed concept was so complicated for the way creators were explaining these things and making it sound like it was very simple. Thank you so much!

    Nice video and thanks for explaining speed and action value. I’d like to see the same math you did here, but instead of our character’s turns vs the enemy’s turn i’d like to see our characters vs cycles in forgotten hall: memory of chaos. From an end game point of view, finishing the fight with enough cycles left is what will net us 3 stars in the hardest content in the game.
    I don’t know how cycles are determined, but they show in the turn gauge. So I’d be curious if it’s relative to the characters and enemies or if it has a set speed/action value.
    Edit: just watched another video and found out action value for cycles. 150 AV on the first cycle and subsequent cycles are 100 AV.

    Good video, one thing that bothers me though is that you're wrong about Asta's ult in turn one. I don't know what testing you did, but it absolutely functions normally if used on turn one.

    Do you think you could make a showcase between Dan Heng and Yanqing? (I have gepard) I was thinking on running my second team with either a full freeze team with (gepard/pela/march/yanqing) or something along the lines of welt Dan Heng with asta and a healer. But I wanted to have a full grasp of dps between Dan Heng and Yanqing before I made my decision. It would be awesome to get your input.

    Actually, you have the skill points wrong in the example. If you skill with Tingyun, Asta, and Jing Yuan then baduc with Gepard on 1, you go into turn 2 with 1 point carried over, then you badic with Ting, then skill with Asta and Jing, which would deplete your skill points so basic with Gepard again. Turn 3 starts with 1 skill point, Ting basics again, giving you 2 points for both Asta and Jing. Gepard again uses his basic. Turn 4 Ting uses her skill, meaning Asta has to basic to give Jing a skill point then Gepard basics again. Freeze can't happen unless you don't use a skill T1 on Jing

    If you build break effect on characters they dont need atk so speed is the only choice

    Call me crazy, but it seems like character classes are designed for speed boots or not.
    Hunt chars seem to love them because they can go more often.
    Erudition on the other hand have a lot of passive damage that stacks off of attack. Like Himeko break passive and DoT, Cerval DoT, Jing Yuan lightning lord. Speed isn't going to help those units that much when their damage might not even come from the unit getting a turn.

    It's best to let enemys takes turn but stop theme (freeze, make theme lock on a target) or slow theme, do not sacrifice your attack boys
