@RR Very true. This lady was way too confident thinking she just made her fruit *"organic."*
No, sweetheart, it's just as much pesticides within the fruit as outside. Organic gives me peace of mind. Especially seeing I was diagnosed with colon cancer at 29. All I ate when I was younger was pounds of non Organic fruit. Not saying it was the main cause, but I'm not taking any more risks.

@@Feverishkiller exactly my friend. Look up Monsanto, the largest pesticide producer in America. They used to manufacture war chemicals like agent orange which is KNOWN to cause cancer and tumors. After the war they didn't know what to do with all those chemicals so they went into the pesticide business.
No one will do the studies to prove this because they buy them out but I firmly believe this is a huge reason why so many people have cancer today. We're literally eating it. Sorry for your battle. Wish you the best.

That is true, but a lot of it sticks to the surface so you can get a lot of it off if you soak your fruit and veggies for at least 15 minutes in water, before wrinsing it. Baking soda is great in dissolving acidic pesticides, but they're not the only ones. I do like to use it. Some fruit and veggies are more prone to disease and get sprayed more, you might keep that in mind when buying groceries... I truly would love to know if it really does work so I could feel safe in the knowledge that I don't have to purchase organic produce all the time. As of right now, I have no choice but to do so since my children are allergic to the very same pesticides, herbicides and coating/shellac that is used to "protect" the fruit. I can only purchase fruit from an organic farm or, on the off chance, I find fruit that doesn't have a coating, so I would welcome seeing some test results that say this works.

Baking soda and vinegar makes water basically. The fizz is carbon dioxide bubbles. The two substances essentially cancel each other out leaving you with water and carbon dioxide, (the bubbles.) The bubbles go and you're left with water (and a salt.)

@@pamelarising344 yeah but that reaction is just bubbles and water whereas the baking soda or vinegar are actually really good for the job if used separately.
I think seeing the bubbles is a psychological thing. Kind of like "it must be working, look how much it bubbles." Like we used to think with skin products that tingle or feel cool, we felt as if that was a sign it really worked. To this day I'm STILL a sucker for products with peppermint oil or menthol that give that cold feeling.

As I said I use a tiny drop, just enough to remove dirt/pesticides and rinse very well. I think this is one of the leading problems to a lot of health issues because people don’t thoroughly wash their fruits and veggies, the toxic chemicals is what we need to worry about not the dish liquid that we’ve all been using our whole lives.
