THANKS FOR WATCHING! - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Melissa, thank you for this channel, I love it, but one correction...the white film on blueberries and grapes is not the pesticide. This is a completely natural coating produced by the fruit itself called "bloom". It helps protect the fruit from pests and moisture loss. You will see bloom on organic fruit too. And I cannot bring myself to eat eggplant. 🤢
Thanks for this! Eggplants also on my list...
Love eggplant if prepared well.
I live eggplants done the dominican way
Thank you I feel better now because iv been eating like that forever 🎉
Beets I don't like the taste but they are easy to grow just don't like them
I love pepper. Hot pepper and mild ones. Makes your food taste niiiiiice❤
Pepper is the spice of life! Just don't overdo it and end up breathing fire.
Bell peppers are awesome! Raw or cooked, love them.
I crave bell peppers and onions like candy.
@@robertheintz8017 and nothing smells better than peppers and onions being caramelized! Makes me hungry thinking about it.
Your channel soothes and relaxes me even during tough times, thank you.🙏🏼 Cleaning can be therapeutic and I love your clean with me videos!👏🏼 will try these produce cleaning tips too🙌🏼🍏🍒
So happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!!
Hi Melissa, about 4 years ago I stumbled onto your videos. I can say this with an open heart. Your videos changed my life. Everytime I clean my kitchen I do the S way of cleaning counter tops as well as the eye level testing. Everyday I think of what you said about that. I stay in South Africa and have told so many ladies about you. You changed my life How to clean MY space. Thank you so much for your tips. I watch your videos over and over. One of these days I'm going to order by my waffle towels and microfibre cloths. ❤
Eye-level testing and the S way of cleaning - sounds like you've got it down to a science! Keep up the great work and thanks for the wonderful kind words Charmaine! Melissa.
I love the dirty dozen lists, and how they don't seem to change much year over year. Great way to avoid more toxins
At least they are consistent. Know which ones are the ones to really take some extra care with when consuming. Thanks for watching!
Very smart of you to create a channel to teach people how to tackle small cleaning jobs.👍
The absolute cleaning queen is AuriKaterina💖💖💖
So true!
This was very interesting and well presented as always! The CrossLegacy has a different approach but it also works very well.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for tuning in!
Love your channel melissa❤
Glad you enjoy the chaotic content!
I really love this new type of videos 🤩📸
Thanks! We are always looking for suggestions! Let us know what you want see!
@@cleanmyspaceI saw this & hit so fast! I often wonder what I'm doing right or wrong. I have citrus trees, and I wash them with dish soap (horror of horrors!) I don't know what else to do, because birds are up in there doing their business. I know there's nets to keep them out, but 1) the trees are big, and 2) I live in the desert, so it's hot. Not nice to keep the birds out🤷♀️
Any advice on how to do it differently? I know it's weird, but I want the zest too and don't want poo in my zest! That was the best idea I had in getting it cleaned. All the video tips were pretty good; thanks! Oh, and those cotton candy grapes are amazing, although they don't displace regular grapes😉
@gohawks3571 I sometimes do dawn and scrubbie too and then rinse. Most of the time I do the vinegar and water mix in a large bowl, soak veggies or fruits for a minute then using my scrubbie to clean any debris etc off. I rinse and set on a tea towel to dry if storing.
@@Megan9689 Thank you, I feel better 😁 ✨Zestfully✨ clean! 😂
@@gohawks3571 living in the desert has it's benefits! Tough to stop the bird from doing it's business, give them a good wash and you are good to go!
This message has nothing to do with cleaning fruits and veggies.
I don't know if you will
ever see this message being that there are over 200 comments already but some how some way I stumbled across your page, read your book and NOW...I ALMOST love Cleaning up. I just cleaned the bathroom in less than 30 mins sweeping and mopping included. I cleaned my kitchen in an hour and my room in an hour based on your wave method!!!! OMG!!!! Normally I would get PARALYZED walking into my kitchen or bedroom because the clutter would be debilitating. But now with the new system I clean like a pro. :-).
Just wanted to give you your props!!!! Thank you!!!
I saw your message, and appreciate the show of love! Thanks for the feedback. Let me know if there is anything other content you need an I am happy to provide! Thanks! Melissa!
@@cleanmyspace 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕Much love!!! I will def let you know.
Thankyou for the advice. The fruit I detest more than anything is the Lime.
Interesting citrus to detest! Thanks for watching!
Cauliflower is my most hated. I like peppers but of course, were all different and that's fine. Thanks for this video!
Thanks for watching!
Clean My Space, I really enjoyed watching this, so I hit the like button!
Awesome! Thank you! :)
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for this video I always wanted to know how to clean it with out it getting wilted.
Glad we could help!
Another suggestion I picked up from a woman who is a doctor and an Orthodox Sephardic Jew: if you buy berries, such as raspberries and blackberries, be sure to soak them for a while. Often there are little insects living in them. I saw her video. They keep strictly Kosher so she takes a lot of precautions.
Yes. Recommend 10-15 mins for berries. True!
I practice this too!
I can’t trust they are pre-washed.
thanks, never b4 washed any
Thank you for this video. Do you wash bagged, ready to eat lettuce?
No need. As long as the bag says ready-to-eat you are good-to-go!
Excellent video and so useful! My least favorite veg: Brussels sprouts. When I think of cleaning fruits & veg's, I think of actual dirt too, not just pesticides, since dirt (soil) is where produce would pick up bacteria like E. coli or C. diff. I saw some research where the veggie that needs the most washing re: soil is lettuce, especially leaf lettuces or "spring mix," because lettuce is right down in the soil and there are so many folds and frills with lettuce that it's hard to fully rinse it. I've also had to rinse spinach multiple times to remove sand. ... and now I'm hungry for a nice salad, LOL! Thanks Melissa!
And spinach. I thought that or leeks would be #1.
You are welcome on this Saturday morning. I'm compiling my list but have to say that both brussels sprouts and leeks are on people's lists!
Will try the baking soda method.
Thank you for this video. Scary now I will make sure it is washed. Dont like peas in patato salads
So nice of you! But you can't have a picnic without potato salad!
Melissa, I love your channel. You keep it real. Eggplant is absolutely disgusting. I also dislike cooked mushrooms. Why someone would put slimy mushrooms on a perfectly cooked steak is beyond me.
Keep it coming.
I guess I'm the yang to your ying😂 I love mushrooms, cooked or not. And I keep meaning to incorporate more eggplant in my meals. Send what you don't use😉
Looks like we've found the perfect food balance - you take the mushrooms, I'll take the eggplants!
Agreed! Why on earth would anyone want to eat a FUNGUS?
My family love my mushroom sauce on steak, pork fillet, pasta...it's so good.
I eat peppers almost every day as a vegetarian. I always use vinegar water solution and a scrubbie to wash apples, zucchini, peppers, oranges(if you're going to zest), cucumbers, etc.
Sounds like your veggies get a spa treatment before they end up on your plate! Keep up the good work in keeping them squeaky clean.
Thank you for a terrific video, Melissa! Very helpful. Mushrooms are the worst thing for me! Despise them!!!
You are certainly not alone there. Mushrooms are on the clean 15....video coming next week!
For me it’s cilantro. Can stand it.
Great video.
Yes, I’m with you there…
They say you either love it or hate it. No in between with cilantro. Thanks for watching this one!
It tastes like washing powder to me
"When farmers be farming"😂 I love it….[9:30]
Thanks for watching and enjoying the video! So glad you picked that part up!
I love my mustard green in my chicken soup with concentrated Campbell’s tomatoes juice and celery. Don’t forget the celery
Love peppers, red ones are especially nice in a salad.
Pretty and colorful!
I love peppers. I actually eat bell peppers as snacks, dipped into a good french onion dip. 😋
Maybe I have to give that a try!
I don’t like peppers to! And also am allergic to them, so no problem not getting to eat them 😂
Love cotton candy grapes, also Sable grapes ❤
So good!
Moondrops grapes!💜
Yummy grapes… love peppers!
Thanks for sharing your food preferences!
I use my salad spinner to wash my fruit and a spray bottle of white vinegar for my apples and peppers.
Great tip!
I'm with you Melissa. Bell peppers make me need to evacuate the building! 🤮
It's comforting to know I'm not alone in my bell pepper struggles, thanks for sharing! Melissa.
I love peppers with onion on my chuck roast in the oven. Love my Serrano chiles with my eggs almost every day topped with shredded cheese and corn tortillas
Yummy!
Can you clarify why you would sometimes use vinegar and other times baking soda?
baking soda traditionally is used when some safe form of 'abrasive' is required (grapes, blueberries). but if you are using either one you are better off than none at all. Hope that helped clarify! Melissa.
I appreciate your video.
I also practice washing my produce right before I eat or prep for cooking.
I’ve been soaking, changing the water at least three times for strawberries. I do massage them clean at the final soak before I rinse. Total time, about 20 mins.
I’ll start adding vinegar to the strawberry soak.
Good stuff!
Cotton candy grapes are so delicious.
Yes they are!
Thank you so much for easy clean for fruits and begs. My favorite is granny green apples but the waxy film is such a turn-off will follow your advise! 💕
Thanks for that. Keep an eye out for our clean15 video next week!
Spinach Question
I buy organic baby spinach and the package says thoroughly washed ready to enjoy.
In your opinion, is it OK to actually eat as is?
Yes. 100%. Trust that if it’s washed (and organic) you have done enough
Great balanced video that needs to be required watching for ALL young teens. I don't have an aversion to any fruit or veg, but I only have garden grown sprouts. BTW, your animations about thriving bacteria (1.30-) is hilarious without sound.....just saying 😲😏🤣
I appreciate your support and feedback! It means a lot to hear that the video is impactful.
Peppers are great raw or cooked!
Do you have a printable so we can see when to use baking soda versus vinegar?
No! But we will do one this week and get it up on cleanmyspace.com! Great feedback thanks!
What about the salad kits from a grocery store and says it's triple washed, are they really safe to eat right from the container? Where I live i don't have access to a normal kitchen area, I mean I do but it's a pain to deal with so eat it right from the kit from the store.
Please tell me those are safe
Yeaaaah, a little dirt cleans the stomach as my granny says 😆 I don’t worry too much about homegrown veggies and fruits but store bought I clean very thoroughly because of possible pesticides (even though I mainly buy certified organic)
Maybe your granny is onto something with the "a little dirt cleans the stomach" theory! Who needs probiotics when you have dirt, right?
I LOVE Cotton Candy Grapes!
Who knew grapes could taste like candy? Nature's sweet treat!
@@cleanmyspace Agreed!
I do not know if you had done one or not. However, we where wondering if you had any tips for downsizing seniors and I have certain problems that hinder the classic ways of cleaning. Do you have any helpful tips for us? Especially hard to do justice with baseboards, garage, is there also products that you recommend for spraying outside such as we spray the enclosed patio n the windows but the spray wait n rinse products just don't work like the used to!
Great idea! we are currently shooting a cleaning video for immobility. Should be up in two weeks! You are way ahead of us!
@@cleanmyspace Thank you so very much we are looking forward to it!! ❤️👍🏻
Okay this may be a silly Q. But I just need to ask. If you buy all organic produce, do you still need to follow these cleaning steps? Or can you just rinse & eat?
No Q is silly. Good for you for supporting local and buying organic. FDA still recommends rinsing all vegetables and fruits before consumption, however pesticide residue is less prominent in organic matter (but can still appear!) Hope that helps!
Hay!!! 👋🏾
❤ ur videos but this one is exceptionally one that was needed for me, thank you. 🙏🏾
Thank you for watching and for your kind words, it means a lot to me!
Love peppers, apples, grapes etc. Like them all
Sounds like you've got a colorful and tasty diet going on!
Do we wash before freezing any of these?
Yes! Just make sure you dry well. Then when ready to consume you can take out and use when needed!
Oh I needed this video….. strawberries? 😲 so surprised. I think the only vegetable I really can’t stand would be lima beans.
Lima Beans are in our top 3 so far. Not loved. Thanks for watching!
I have tried to like Kale, but I just can’t! 😅
Also I’m wondering if the things that we would typically peel before eating need the same kind of washing ? I usually peel peaches, sometimes apples, etc
If you peel, then it's real!
Is it ok to wash any fruit and veg with vinegar? That’s usually my go to for everything
100%! Good work!
Me, on the carnivore diet and still watching to support Melissa and Chad. 😅 Thank god I don't have to scrub meat. 🤪
Love that!
Okra!!! I’ve tried. I’ve really tried!
Okra! not even on our list, but I'm adding it! Thanks for tuning in! Melissa
I cannot imagine doing these processes on a daily basis (cleaning only one portion at a time).
Do what works for you!
My face when my date peels their banana and starts to wash it.
😱🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Like that?😂
ha ha!
Love peppers😊
Well now we just have to agree to disagree! Thanks for watching!
Another question: have you heard of Apeel? There's a FB group that discussed bioengineered food and harmful chemicals. They're saying that Apeel does not wash off of produce and recommend peeling the affected product. I'm new to that group and wonder how do you even know it's on your produce? If all washing attempts fail?
It's supposed to be on the produce sticker. Although sometimes that sticker falls off, so if you are missing a sticker on the one you pick up check the others. Do not eat the skin of any products that have it, I know some avocados and apples are using it.
Kale!! Ick! Ick! Ick!!! Can't stand the stuff and I LOVE vegetables!!! But Kale, no, I just can't stomach it. Glad it was among the Dirty Dozen--I felt like I'd saved myself some time! 😂
Kale definitely has a unique taste that's not for everyone. Maybe one day it'll grow on you, or not!
I wash mushrooms very well in running water, those who say to dust them off well I'm not eating at there house!!
LOVE bell peppers lol
Brussels sprouts
ooh. good one!
Does Organic fruits and veggies need this type of wash? Or can you just use cold water?
Great question! All fruits and veggies should be washed. Even organic fruits and vegetables may contain (some) pesticides!
Organic food is made without pesticides but may have a coating on it… if you get organic apples and pears sometime they put the coating to protect it from getting wrinkles, with organic kale, spinach and so on you can wash with inlet water 💦
@@beatrijsb634 that is not correct. There are many OMRI pesticides. Neem oil is one, for example. Perfectly harmless to our skin, but you do not want to eat it.
Lima beans is my least liked veggie. I wouldnt flip the table haha, but pick around them. I have no idea if i dont care for any fruit...havent come across any yet haha.
Ha ha...me too! When my Mom served mixed frozen veggies, I'd leave all the lima beans on the plate. She once made me try one, and I got so sick, she never bothered me again. Lol.
@@kimreed2489 yes my dad would serve the mixed veggies too! That's the only time I've seen them. THANKFULLY he ALSO doesn't care for them so he was fine with me picking them out hahah!
Forgot about the lima bean. That's gotta be up on the list!
Could you please explain why the amount of vinegar is changing ?
Probably so we run out faster and have to buy more.
@@anndosh5195 please don't use my message to be mean.
@@anndosh5195 you caught her, Melissa clearly owns a vinegar company or stock in one.
@@anndosh5195 Please don't use my message to be sarcastic
Hi! It's Melissa! And I wish I owned a vinegar company, but I don't. It's just the least expensive DIY versatile helper out there. at a minimum the 1 to 4 ratio is to be used, a bit more won't hurt, just make sure you rinse well and you are on your way! Thanks for watching my videos, and if there is anything else you need help with, include it in the comments and I'll add it to our production list! Thanks!!!!
Onions. Not a fan of peppers either, but hands down, onions are my most hated veg. 😝
Onions and peppers, the dynamic duo of disliked vegetables! Maybe we should form a club.
What about raspberries? How would u wash those?
all berries! Same as blueberries.
🍐’s I don’t like!!!! But love peppers 🫑 !😁
To each their own! Thanks for watching!
👍
Thanks for the thumbs up!
In my European country white vinegar is not the color of water! How odd is that. It is more the color of white wine. I wonder if some bleaching process is used in North America for white vinegar…
Thanks for that! Going to look into it!
How about celery for a dirty veg. The mud gets inside the stalks and needs very thorough cleaning.
It has a hard outside stalk, but thorough washing is recommended for all fruits and veg, these dirty dozen are the WORST! but wash everything!
Especially leeks.@@cleanmyspace
Beets, ugh
Beets are awful. Interesting: my mother used to love Italian ice. There were three flavors in the box she bought. Lemon, strawberry, and cherry. I noticed a strange aftertaste from one of the red ones. I read the labels and found out *that* one had beet used as a sweetener! I could even taste that little bit. Yuck.
tough beat for the beet.
Great advise but I beg to differ about bell peppers.....They are yummy to me but to each their own 😊 What about organic items in the same categories? While I can't afford everything organic is it even worth it to pick and choose to eliminate the pesticides or do they just use some sort of chemical products anyway making it not really worth the extra expense of organic to begin with?
Absolutely! Each their own. You are correct Barbara. Even organics use some pesticides so conventional are fine (and less $$) so just make sure you are aware which ones to wash thoroughly! Thanks for watching!!
It depends on your country. Here in Germany the rules for organic food are really strict, no pesticides or genetic engineering are allowed. So we are on the safe side when we buy organic. And it is worth the price!
Asparagus!
Asparagus: the veggie that makes your pee smell funny!
Love peppers, but melons of any sort make me want to puke!!! P.S. This video was *awesome*!
Peppers are your spicy love, but melons are the sour note in your fruit symphony! Glad the video hit the right taste buds.
As a Bangladeshi, I will not be able to survive without pepper. I use the green extra spicy ones. I don't care if they're not good for me lol..I love them 😂
Thanks for sharing! Spicy food lovers unite!
My list of gross fruits and veggies is sadly pretty long, but the toppers are: olives (just the smell makes me gag), mushrooms, eggplant, cilantro, onions, and okra. I do like bell peppers but only if they're raw. I love broccoli and cauliflower but only if they're cooked.
You know your likes (and dislikes!) All good!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that it is better to choose organic versions of the dirty dozen, as opposed to using so many methods to clean them. My understanding of the growing process of the dirty dozen is that so many pesticides and other chemicals are used during the whole process that washing NON organic produce wouldn’t help. I may have to check the FDA site or the EPA for clarification.
Even organics have proven to have SOME pesticides, but obviously supporting local farmers who are organic is an ideal choice but an expensive one. If you wash conventional properly, you can remove much of the pesticide danger! Thanks for watching this one! And the great comments!
i always peel my apple haha cause i dont like the skin so thats another way as well i guess^^
For sure! You are not alone. Many of our community seem to peel their apples!
Eggplant and cauliflower. I’ll eat it but I don’t get why anyone bothers. Not a big okra fan, either. Red peppers are delicious!
Maybe we should start a "Veggie Lovers Anonymous" support group for those questionable choices!
I pill my apples , no scrubbing
That's one way of doing it. Thanks for watching!
Love my spinach with my egg
Do you trust bagged salad mixes when they say "pre-washed?" They're convenient for getting veggies to my family but I don't know if they're as clean as they should be!
We have to trust it!
I always wash them again 😂
Same. I always wash again.
Lima beans 😖
You are not alone!
What about organic produce? I belong to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and I find the produce to be less full of pesticides. In fact sometimes I find a bug or two but it’s local and if bugs like it then it’s not full of pesticides- people should support local as much as possible. Also i can’t bring myself to eating eggplant but I also don’t have a lot of experience cooking it .
It's great that you support local agriculture and prioritize organic produce!
How about broccoli??
Love my grapes every night. I soak them in water for a few minutes. Then eat them
For me, mushrooms can go straight to hell. :) In my adult life I continue to try them now and then, hoping my repulsion will change- but no. Hard no. Even though I don’t cook with them, I’m surprised they didn’t make the list! I’ve also heard there are different ways to clean different mushrooms, so maybe that could be a new video idea for you. :)
Mushrooms are definitely not everyone's cup of tea... or soup! Maybe one day they'll surprise you and you'll become a mushroom enthusiast!
There are no vegetables or fruit that I don't like, I will eat it all. I have never been picky about food. I belong to a shopping Club that sells all natural cleaning products that has no harmful products if ingested by kids or anyone. I use their product to clean my produce and it cleans well and actually makes my produce taste better with no residue. These products are plant powered cleaners, the only products I use in my home.
Mushrooms, bleck 🤢
True. Very true.
I do not like the taste of raw bell peppers, but cooked, they are delicious.
Everyone has their own way of consuming veggies. Just make sure you are consuming!
Pumpkin and cantaloupe
Forgot about pumpkin! Great add! thanks for watching! Melissa
No way will I touch mushrooms!!! 🤮
Mushrooms seem to be the clear winner so far!
I am offended by mushrooms!
you are not at all alone! I feel the struggle! Thanks for watching!
Onions lol
I can’t do onions 🧅 gross 🤢
Soaking strawberries in vinegar make them moochy,or at least mine do
Gotta get them when they are not too ripe!
I do not like eggplant nor edamame. Oh, and cilantro, though its an herb, but its green.
Thanks for sharing your dislikes! It's always interesting to hear what people enjoy and don't enjoy when it comes to food.
I LOVE roasted red peppers. Completely different animal than raw peppers.
I will try those thanks! Melissa.
