The Bi-directional trains aren't working for me and I did everything right trains face opposite direction on both sides of cargo car and the train stations are facing the right directions.
10/10, I have been having problems with my railways for a couple months now and finally wanted to get around to preventing my trains from hitting each other all the time. This was excellent, solved all my problems in a matter of minutes. Thank you!
You are short, sweet and straight to the point. Great Job! Too many others are bouncing all over the map, too shaky with their camera,,,, and talk too dang fast. Mentally convinced they are a superstar or something. LOL You did great,,,, we need more creators like you.
Don't forget for you advanced users - You can mix your loads in a single car, by restricting what they pick up/drop off at each station. But that is another video.... ;-)
@@taeko1019 I think if you use empty platform you can decide which loads to take and leave. Like you put iron in your first wagon, coal in the second, and idk quartz on the third ; at the train station if you want to unload only the coal you put a loading/unloading station on the second part of your wagon and for the other wagon you put empty platform.
For the simple fork junction you signal up at 9:31, you really don't need path signals. Block signals on entrance and exit is fine. Path signals are useful for complex junctions where it is possible for two trains to use the junction and the same time without colliding. The fork does not have this possibility and so the path signal is overly complex.
This was incredibly helpful. I didn't know that Bidirectional trains were a thing, I now know the point of the empty station buildings are to have one train un/load specific cars, and i have a bit more confidence with junctions though it still looks like magic to me (like most programming). I just have a single loop taking fuel from the West beach to a cluster of power stations in the southern plains, and I know that's not the best use of the system, but I'd just unlocked the tech and that was the furthest base I had at the time. I'm kind of going through an overhaul of everything I've made, attaching things to the world grid and incorporating verticality as i learn more about the game.
I’ve been struggling with trains and this guide was really useful. What I’m missing when drawing lines is better guidance, show the angle number, meters / blocks / distance for the segment you draw and the slope.
Several other video I watched on satisfactory trains said blocks at the entrance and paths at the exit but I think yours makes more sense and I just tried it and it works perfectly fine.
TYSM! i watched 3 train tutorials and not one helped me, this one is the best out there by far, now i understand the trains way better and finally relax after 3 hounrs and 10 minutes of trying to make the trains work

this video helped me so much !! for real i could not for the life of me figure out trains and alot of the guides that i found just explained it in such a weird way that i couldnt even tell what was going on thank you so much for making this
this was the most helpful tutorial ive found for this game, as I watch I found myself asking questions then you just answered them like you knew, thank you!
At around 2 minutes in I discovered there was something that you'd normally not think of as being questionable. But I very much disagree with the concept of starting off with a placing down a train station. In my first playthrough I did do that. But I learnt from that as well. It's actually best in my opinion even though you can't use it. To start off with some track. You will need to keep in mind that the train station is big. So if you want to place it down to get a feel for it's size and then remove it fine. But focus on finding a way to make your track work before building the station as it's part of your factories building. Similar to why you'd prefer building a foundation before putting down a 'Miner' You want to figure out where it would be suitable for your trainstation to become attached. Especially in the northern forests with the big tree's you could end up with very windy tracks if you don't figure out your tracks first. There is a lot of lee-way with tracks capable of very unrealistic grades. In the end though how you build a line is up to the player.
The signals work pretty much like Factorio's, wouldn't surprise me if both games used OpenTTD's source code in some way. Installing my first systems, I expect it to solve some problems, we'll see...
i find i have generally one issue with guides for satisfactory. i can easily figure out the "how to", it just takes some trying, failing, fixing, it's really alright. but really i never see much guides about the "what to". making a train run is pretty simple, but which materials exactly do you move with those trains? where do you place your factories? how do you run those rails around obstacles in the map? do you place foundations floating in the sky everywhere for that?
good tutorial, however, if Factorio has taught me anything, it's that you could definitely use more signals on that T intersection. As it stands now, that whole intersection is a single block. So, if a train were entering that T from the bottom and going right, the whole intersection would be a "no go" zone, so if a train also happened to be coming from the right and wanted to go straight through, it would still be stopped by the train coming up from the bottom. The odds of that happening are low, but if you want full throughput, you need more signals. LOL
Tried making a bi-directional train loop but it kept saying "Next stop is unreachable." There is a locomotive on both ends of the train yet it will not move. It's not that the railway isn't connected because I have manually driven to the end several times just to make sure and it won't budge.
I recreated the setup at 7:00 LITERALLY perfectly on my own world to workshop ideas, and all of the signs except for the blocks going into the two stations are blinking yellow. What am I missing??? I copied the setup EXACTLY.
Great video but for some reason my train can only go to one station when it gets to it is says the only station is unreachable the track isn’t clipping into anything and I can drive to it manually. Do you know why?
Great stuff. I have a better idea about blocks now. But I'm having trouble with the programming. Right now my train just takes the cargo to the station, honks and keeps going without actually dropping it off.
Literally showed you that in the video. The locomotive stops at the main station, the freight cars are either loaded or unloaded based on which freight stations they line up with. If you want freight cars skipped at specific stations, that's what the blanks are for. Empty platforms were explained about 6 minutes in. If you don't have a freight station lined up with a freight car during a stop, then it isn't touched at that station before the train leaves.

Well I've been attempting to use trains but I'm stumped. How can I pick up coal at one station and copper at another station and delivery to separate freight station at my home?

Block signal devides the train line into separate sections and path is to tell the train if it is free to enter or there is a train so don't go into this section
06:13 i have question because im new to Trains in Satisfactory. I want to make a Train with 4 Different Pick Up Stations would it work when i build it like Frist Pickup has "Trainstation - Fraight Platform - Empty - Empty - Empty " and on the second has "Trainstation - Empty - Fraight Platform - Empty -Empty" and so on ?
In a way yes. But you’ll want to have the same total amount of platforms on all stations for the same train. So in your second one I would remove the last empty for example. That way the first one grabs the first wagon, the second station grabs the second wagon.
I'm guessing its a Dedicated server issue....but our trains do not work. Same setup as here... Bidirectional w only 2 freight cars... Station facing the correct way... Train moves, but doesnt pick up anything. Also, the platforms are set to load correctly
well, when you put it that way.... It can be used to send the same items across different parts of the map, without having to belt across the entire map. But that being said, I've ran belt buses before across the map no problem, so it's a preference I guess.
trains can get a much higher throughput with much lower cost to add new resources if you hook up a new factory to an existing rail network you don't need to run an entire new line to the place you want to use those resources / from the places you want to get resources from
each freight car is effectively (almost, because of the loading animation) 1560 items per minute, to double the throughput you don't need to double your bus, you just add another freight car
Depends on the trigger for that station. If it's something related to "unload" it'll leave immediately If there's a time trigger, it'll wait Also note, if there's both, whether they are AND or an OR

really surprised this game didn't include a carosel the track you use in real life to rotate a train 360 degrees to access different tracks with least amount of space.
Two engines in the front, you will only need one engine to have the time table preferably the front one, the other cannot have one because they will try to occupy the same route, and the stations will only the need the first engine to be docked and empty platform the second
I remain surprised at how often these train guides include 0 warnings/caveats on the freight aspect of trains and how to deal with the docking time when accounting for throughput
Trains themselves are complicated. The invention and implementation of the rail network in America dramatically changed EVERYTHING, and was very complex and expensive to implement. However it made everything faster. Way too much influence for a comment.
It's incredibly simple. The trains have to stop when loading or unloading, you're just telling other trains to not enter their section of track until it's empty so they don't run into each other. You don't need them if you have just one train on the track, but if you have multiple trains running the circuit than you're just blocking them from colliding.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
Thanks for the help dude, I've rewatched this video 10+ times to help me out.

How do you make things smaller on the blueprint? Mines are real size.
after that video I`m try make launch to train on one track with bidirectional. And it works.
