That story has a sad twist to it. The guy was Mad Mike Hughes and he had built a steampowered rocket. I think was more of a stunt that proving that the Earth is made of masonite …. Or whatever. I think he was in that kind of shit - driving his limo across Grand Canyon or maybe Narrow Canyon. Well in his last stunt, the parachute of his rocket deployed too early and Mike accidentally passed away. Here’s the sad part: the flerf society were treating the accident and his passing very badly, almost taunting Mike for doing experiment (if it was) as flat earth is a fucking dogma. The globe earthers recognized, on the other hand what a great and nice person he was with a fantastic personality and really regretted his tragic death.
Yeah I'm not sure he was really a flat earther, more of a daredevil, and I think he was just using that angle to promote his stunt. He obviously wasn't going to see a curve at 1000 ft, and I hope he knew that, but there are some flat earthers that dumb so it's plausible.
@@bullschitt3666 Not just to promote his stunt, he also got some Flat Earthers to contribute to funding his rocket by pretending to agree with them. We know they're dumb when they're paying for someone to build a rocket that goes to an altitude you can reach in some of the taller buildings on the planet, or on a mountain top, or a quick ride as a passenger in a helicopter or small Cessna, which would be cheaper than building a steam powered rocket.
At beginning he was not FE, he was just playing with rocket, but when he heard about the Flat Earth Society he decide to call himself FE to get fund from them to keep playing with rocket.

I first came across your TH-cam channel through your Flat Earth debunk videos, and what makes them so captivating is the perfect blend of education, investigative journalism, and sharp humor. It’s this combination that sets your debunk content apart and explains why it often outperforms your strictly educational videos. People love to learn, but they’re also drawn to the drama and intrigue of a good debunk. By merging education with a touch of “gossip” and presenting it in such an engaging way, you manage to capture a much broader audience. I have met Freemasons IRL. My boss at a job was one. From meeting him, I got interested in going on a tour of a Freemason Temple and also speaking to Freemasons there (some of the temples are landmarks, such as the one in Alexandria, and others are just nondescript halls). I can describe it best, from someone who did not join, as a society of members who have a desire to belong to a group that performs regular charitable acts for the good of their community. Some members, like my former boss, do it because they see it as a status thing and he wants to be recognized. He was like that in every aspect of life. Also doing whatever will set him apart and show off his perceived important status to others. I'm sure he joined the "Who's Who" list as well. In the past, it was strictly a brotherhood and also, I believe, christian, but they have evolved to be more including. From what I understood, members do need to have some sort of belief in a higher power and be spiritual. They shroud themselves in ceremony, artifacts, ritual and myth, kind of like a church or monarchy. They have levels to attain. It's a bit of a "self-improvement" group. But at the end of the day, it's just something that you can join and start down the path, and like any club they need more members. They keep it more on the down-low. Go to the local temple when they are open and just ask about joining. I think you end up having a sponsor and taking part in charitable causes so that you can be observed, etc. And, if you can follow the rules that will be explained to you, you are in. It's not some super elite group that's impossible to get into, if you really want to. Things like this are similar to saying you can't fly from South America to Africa, even though you can, and you could prove it to yourself if you wanted to. It's easier for them to just make up their own belief that everything they don't understand is sinister instead of just actually looking into it.
Well the options are a lot more limited if you're a woman, and for people who don't identify as either men or women, I'm not sure how it would work. But yeah I generally agree
@@ibreakthings4668 Right, everyones experience is probably different depending on where you are. Most of the people I met were mid-30's - mid-50's. And despite their secret handshakes and reverence of symbols .. the veneer of exclusiveness .. they were all just paying to be a part of it for many personal reasons. It's got this mythology because many significant people in history were members ... so you know, Illuminati! But that's like saying 500 years from now a lot of the people who made history were in the Kiwanis club. We wouldn't think of that as any big conspiracy today. If George Washington knew we were talking about how Freemasons were behind all the worlds hidden truths, I'm sure he'd have a good laugh.
@@bananawitchcraft Right, it is a "brotherhood". However, I remember in talking with some members 10+ years ago, they saw a change coming and didn't have any problem with it. I haven't kept up on anything ... I thought it was possible a change could have occurred. Change is slow for organizations like this. And maybe it will never come and the people I talked to aren't representative of the whole. Or maybe because I was there with my wife (in the temple), and there were other women there, they were watering it down a bit. Inclusiveness seemed to be on their minds though. Anyway, I'll try not to speak for them, I don't really know.

They act like the concept of the earth being a sphere was invented recently, meanwhile Eratosthenes calculated the circumference of the earth with a 1% margin of error using a stick in the ground and well. As well as calculated the earth's axial tilt also within an impressive margin of error. This shit is so easy to prove that a clever math guy could do it without even a damn calculator. Oh right and he did it around 200BC
And the thing is that his METHOD was actually perfect. His margin of error came in because he only had a guy counting his steps for a way to determine the distance between his two measuring points.

"There's a flat earther who built a rocket, I think he died" (proceeds to laugh😂) pure gold!
I'm so glad somebody else appreciated that. 😄

I've been to the freemason lodge in town - it's cool. It's just a retirement community in the hills at this point. It's quite nice.

I wonder if he will ever get around to explaining his own flerf model instead of telling us everything that it's not.
Discovered your channel whilst looking for an explanation of the stages of fusion in stars. Love your educational content and delivery style, pitched at just the right level for me to learn something without hurting my brain too much.
Have to say though, your debunking flat earth vid are priceless. Refreshing to see someone respond to ignorance and stupidity with such a dismissive, 'not suffering fools gladly' approach.
Sir Sic is going to be PISSED 😂 how dare you steal HIS whisky? 😂
Sir Sic is clearly not going to be pissed if the prof has stolen his whisky.
Sir Sic drinks Whisky Professor Dave drinks Whiskey, I prefer Whisky.
They should do a collab video. Best debunk gets all the whisky/whiskey
@@Boepyne 😂 I see what you did there 😂
So you remember when sober:
Pythagorum's Theory
lol
Glad this comment worked for me at least xD
Bookers is sooooo good. It's so nice to watch someone who is clearly intoxicated, be so down to earth and level headed. Well done, Dave! Great video. 😎
I’m extremely entertained. More please, Professor!
This video came at the perfect time time… watched it last night, bro hit me with the flat earth shot today 😂
Dave: "Hey guys, let's see how much brain cells i have to kill by drinking alcohol before i agree with the flat earthers"
Conclusion: Not Enough
that whiskey is smarter than the rapper
It might be older than the rapper too
Definitely more mature
1:14:20 You read Dante Nero perfectly on the first try. He's the logical one. Godfrey's going along to get along. Dante is being nice so that he doesn't have to hurt Lord Jamar physically, but he wants to.
Hi
Thanks! Professor Dave for destroying those assholes 😂
Godfrey is just a host with a college degree. He’s not a flat earther, he’s just being a good host
1:12:25 "we were picking up a drift, a 15 degree per hour drift" "Thanks, Bob"
He also apparently hasn't heard of flat earthers doing his laser experiment. Twice. "Interesting."
Dave has already taught enough math, chemistry, biology, history, physics, languages, etc, and now just watching cocky and narcissistic people who thinks they have similar knowledge as dave, like a movie.
And dave can still be a logical while drunk.
Drunk Dave is my favorite Dave. Still owns these idiots while wasted... My kind of guy.
