    It's kinda weird watching you do all the same jobs I had to do on my p38 when I bought it... Small but satisfying!

    Thanks Sam, we’re on this journey together. Weirdly earlier today I ordered replacement wipers for the headlights for mine on eBay, a strut for the centre console and a repair kit for the tailgate button. The guy selling the repair kit also sells replacement decals for the steering wheel buttons on Amazon so I’m going to do those also. My v8 fires into life instantly but I have a couple of error codes that seem to be related to o2 sensors to figure out and my next big job is replacing the headlining, I ordered the replacement on Martrim earlier as well! All the best.

    Sam, I love all of your content, so well put together and presented. Now I’m no mechanic, but I’ve always wanted to have the confidence to try my hand at simple jobs. Watching you has really inspired me to have a go. Going to try doing the oil and filters on my L405 when it needs it, I’ve done a thousand miles since they were last done so probably pretty soon 😂😂. Thank you very much. One of the best and most entertaining LR channels out there 👍👍

    Doing these quick and nice jobs are great to keep the motivation going when there are larger jobs looming. Great video as always.

    Those pirelli scorpion atr's are one of the best wearing, road bias all terrain I've ever used. Amazing on beach, great and quiet on road and does fine enough for light-medium duty off road.

      I’ll have to see if I can find another set for sure.

    Good stuff. Keep it coming. My 4.6HSE is calling me. I’ve received various random suspension and steering bits as Christmas presents ! Next big job is changing the radius arm bushes. Yikes.

    You can get a stainless steel spring for the rear tailgate button that will sort the sticking and rusting problems. Less than 20 euro on eBay. The recent bad frost put paid to my galvanised one. Trillicks in Tyrone for most other stuff P38. Next day delivery to the south. Did my glow plugs and brand new 120ah battery a few weeks ago for about 170euro all in. Huge difference in starting. Best of luck for 2023. They need to be driven on premium diesel. You will see the difference 😀

    You might want to check the clamp on that left side intake manifold - filter housing hose. It appeared loose while you were cranking the car. Obviously not great for correct AF ratio.

    Great to see another video on the P38, I would love to do a project like this. I think it's all the small jobs that makes such a big difference esp as many of us have the attitude " I will fix it later " but never do. Headlight wipers are cool tomwatch but at the same time thank good for modern jet wash headlight cleaners ( wish are also cool to watch )

    Worth checking if it's still hard to start with a full tank of diesel. Mine is only hard to start (sounds exactly like that) when the diesel level is low, due to an air leak in the fuel pickup line which is part of the pump / sender unit.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bingo, this was the problem 👌🏻

  • @Thanos.m

    Not sure on the Diesels but I know on the petrol cars if you changed keys and locks would also need to change the BeCM and ECU for the immobiliser to work as you can code new keys to them the Keys need to be factory coded to the ECU and BeCM

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah - think it's the same on the diesel. There's quite a bit involved with it so lots of research needed.

    • @Thanos.m
      @Thanos.m ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamsMotors I meant to say you can't code keys. A couple of years back I had to go through this on my dad's 98 4.6 P38 his keys died and I found a new old stock lock set on Ebay a Land Rover specialist an auto electrician the dealership and me we all came to the conclusion you can't code new keys the only 2 ways are 1 to send your old keys for rebuild cheapest as well or order a new factory coded key from JLR classics for about £270.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually know a guy who can do it, but I believe it’ll involve me sending my BECM to him. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  • @bushmanPMRR
    @bushmanPMRR ปีที่แล้ว

    Obviously ALWAYS make sure you have the Emergency Key Access code and the Hi-Fi code before disconnecting the battery or the ECU will stop you dead in your tracks!
    Also, regarding the NCT, keep an eye on how long the test takes as an average car is usually 15-20 minutes but when I took my RRC back to the station in Kilkenny the tester took an hour and fifteen minutes and was hammering away at the chassis and some of the rust holes he failed it on were an absolute joke! The KK centre has a terrible reputation. Even allowing for it having a ladder chassis and AWD 1h 15m is unbelievable!
    Good luck!

    Hi Sam i finally bought a Rangie can you guess which one won my heart? yes i bet you guessed right it was the P38 as in my eyes its still has the classic shape but more beautiful than the original Classic which i have had many! Please don't slate me for my comment as i still think the classic Rangie is a beauty i should know i have had all variants including an In Vogue and a CSK! But the P38 just seems a more beautiful comfortable luxurious and given its temperamental electrickery failings when sorted seems a better car my new purchase is a 2000 DHSE auto 190k miles wish me luck😊p.s keep em coming your vids are a great help mate 👍

    Sam Another brilliant informative no messing video but i have the dilemma of choosing between a very tidy P38 DSE or an L322 4.4TDV8 the latter i have never owned or a Diesel P38 but looking at some L322s and their repair bills make my eyes water 😵‍💫And with such a massive purchase price difference i'm now erring towards the P38 even though i would love an L322 i think the extra cash could be better spent making the P38 a reliable minter anyway enough of my yap have a great New Year and keep em coming.Chas.

    Hi love the p38 content so much i went and bought one as well 😂, 2.5 DSE manual. Just wondering if you guys have the same issue, it takes a while for the car to heat up (inside) and is the a diy fix to the heated seats mine don’t seem to work

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers for the comment!
      Do your blower motors work ok? That is a common failing of the P38. Mine are currently inop and I’ll be looking into them pretty soon. Heated seats also a common failure - if it’s not the fuse, unfortunately it’s likely to be the element in the seat itself which is difficult to repair as far as I know.

    Question for you.
    I just bought a 4.6 hse in canada and a gearbox fault is coming up.
    According to the last owner there's some sensor on the passenger side front wheel well that came loose in the past and brought up this error code?
    Have you ever heard of this ?
    Loving the videos !

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. I know that the XYZ switch can cause the gearbox fault message. It's basically a sensor that tells the ECU what position the gear selector is in.

    My headlamp wipers don’t activate when I run my windscreen wipers with the headlamps on. Is this an easy fix (fuse, etc?) or an ECM issue? This vehicle did go into super lock when I replaced the battery, so perhaps that caused the problem?

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did they work beforehand? It could be a setting within the BECM that needs turning back on - have you got a Nanocom?
