@@reken-lh9pj there are 3 very reason, Y traditional or the original silat melayu dont use high kick. 1. Usually the anak2 silat, which are the student of silat will practice at the 'gelangang', and the guru will be there sit either on the ground or on a platform not to high above the ground. In the malay tradition the head is very respectful especially of the elderly and in this case is the guru himself. So the students of silat are not surpose to kick high because If you kick high above his head that means 'kurang ajar', evil manners, not good manners or not showing respect to you guru.
2. The kuda2, the 'pasak bumi' or footing. In silat the kuda2 is very2 important that is y both legs must always be on the ground, when you kick high your kuda2 is already weaken. If you kick high and your foe grab your leg many thing can happen to you. First He may stepped on your other foot and just push you down and game over. How can you fight with broken ankle, 2. He will kick your knee and same result happened and 3. The most feared by the traditional malay both man and woman that he will crush your dignity.
3. in malay tradition the dignity of both man and especially woman are between the legs. You dont simply expose its to your foe...that is y they had the 'kain samping', the small 'sarong' they wore to be the additional protection of their dignity, and how can you kick high when you wearing that sarong...
