    a misconception of outsiders or non native speaker is that silat is 1 single style, its not, there is no such thing as indonesian silat, malaysia silat, brunei silat etc ... silat basically means martial art, and there are thousands of style across south east asia, some similar to each other, some not. so i cringe when foreigners argue online about the difference between bersilat or penchak silat, there are no difference in the word itself, silat is silat, "ber" denotes a verb, and penchak is the style or flair, so different silat will have their own penchak, when you are doing silat you "bersilat". like maul said there are hundreds or registered style, but there are thousands of unregistered style.

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      That's some really good information. There's always an argument on correct spelling on "Penchak." We've seen it spelled "Penjak, Pencak," etc. When it comes to Western world they need a definitive meaning and answer to what a word translates to, even down to the correct spelling.

    • @eddsterfalconian
      @eddsterfalconian 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Wow "bersilat"? Cringe worthy. There are sooo many silat styles that it frustrated me. I learnt 3 styles in my youth. I'm pretty sure 2 of them were unregistered local styles.

    • @FMAPulse

      Agreed. It was interesting when he mentioned that his grandfather taught him martial arts to discipline him, and not for self defense, but because of his temper when he was younger.

    As an Indonesian, I like studying Nusantaran cultures (maritime Southeast Asia) and I love seeing the similarities. I remember when I first saw FMA unarmed fighting and the first thing that came to my mind instantly was “ini koh kaya pencak silat sih? (Why does this look like Pencak Silat?)” Then I started looking into history and such of how Nusantarans fight and cultural and historical backgrounds. It’s funny to me how when the Philippines was choosing a Lingua Franca (common language) in the Philippines, a form of Malay (like the rest of Nusantara) was put as one of the candidates due to historical and regional reasons. If that had gone through in a different timeline then FMA would just have been considered another form of Pencak Silat and the Filipinos would be speaking a weird Spanish-English hybrid of Malay. 😂

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely truth to what you're saying. Whatever disrupts the natural eco system of a culture, it adapts and mutates to what it is. Same thing with the Creole language which derived from French. The further away you get from the original source, it becomes something different based on external factors.

    Dude he incorporated wing chun in his style. It’s obvious. Silat is in forms and sometimes messy but it’s good. But he incorporated it in his style.

      With China doing trade throughout Asia during ancient times, we wouldn't be surprised if some of their approach got assimilated into the other Asian and Southeast Asian countries. Things evolve and change once you take it out the original environment.

    • @MatPost
      @MatPost ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if you're trying to imply that silat is only good bcuz of wing chun then you're just delusional and ignorant. silat existed longer than wing chun, back in the days before it was known by its name today. besides, despite its flaws, silat is still miles better than wing chun as it also comes with sweeps and takedowns that are used along with striking techniques that it has.

    Everything is perfect but ....... one day he stopped a training session in Italy just because one guy while training slapped another guy ass, like saying good training.
    Maul saw it as a bad thing or against islamic religion or something like that, and stop the training to explain it was wrong.
    People around were a bit upset about the speech, that was out of this world.
    He was living in Europe he travels all around the world, but tollerance is not his best quality.

      @MarkShotokai. It is about discipline & mutual respect regardless of profession or seniority in the school & nothing to do with religious belief or level of tolerance. If anyone have a problem understanding that after Maul's explanation, then they are not ready.

      because for you slapping someone's ass is normal but it's not normal for Asian people. Silat originates from Southeast Asia so anyone who learns silat must follow the rules and discipline of a silat master

      The students have a different mindset from the students of earlier generation where they follow the Master's way or it is the highway. In this case, they are not even regular class students but paying for a seminar which they took in a casual manner. Now, they think of the Master as a paid employee regardless of where the Art originates.@@bayurocky1326

    Salah seorang doktor dari Negara Polandia sengaja terbang ke Indonesia untuk mencari tahu jejak sejarah perkembangan Pencak Silat pasca diakui Unesco sebagai warisan budaya tak benda milik Negara Indonesia 28 Desember 2020 lalu.
    Adalah Marzanna, Doktor Ethnomusicology dari Negara Polandia didampingi sahabat karibnya seorang seniman teater boneka dari Inggris bernama Anna sengaja datang ke Paguron Panglipur Pamager Sari, Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jabar.
    Marzanna melakukan penelitian tentang Pencak Silat ke Paguron Pamager Sari, yang terletak di Pasir Ipis, Lembang Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Kamis (06/07/2023). Karena pernah kuliah di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Jawa Tengah, Marzanna sudah fasih menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia.
    Sementara rekannya bernama Anna merupakan warga Inggris yang mencintai kebudayaan Jawa Barat. Anna dan Marzanna memiliki hubungan persahabatan yang kuat, namun tidak pernah bertemu selama puluhan tahun lamanya.
    Keinginan Marzanna mengetahui sejarah Pencak Silat, khususnya sejarah dan sosok yang bisa meyakinkan Pencak Silat sebagai warisan tak benda milik Indonesia membawa kembali kenangan diantara keduanya selama menimba ilmu di Negara Indonesia.
    Melalui media sosial, kedua wanita tangguh ini bisa kembali berkomunikasi dan bertemu di Indonesia. Di Bandung mereka melakukan beragam perjalanan dalam rangka penelitian tentang Pencak Silat.
    Kedatangan kedua WNA (Warga Negara Asing) ini disambut baik pendiri sekaligus pimpinan Paguron Panglipur Pamager Sari, H. Asep Gurwawan yang dijuluki Master Golok Kembar.
    H. Asep Gurwawan yang akrab dikenal dengan nama Kang Asgur adalah salah satu tokoh atau sosok yang menjadi pelaku sekaligus saksi sejarah perjuangan panjang
    membawa Pencak Silat ke mata dunia. Sehingga, ketika Marzanna memberikan banyak pertanyaan, Kang Asgur pun mampu memberikan penjelasan dengan baik.
    Menurut Kang Asgur, perjalanan panjang Pencak Silat bisa diakui Unesco karena kekhawatiran Pencak Silat diklaim oleh negara lain, padahal Pencak Silat dibuat, dikembangkan dan dilestarikan oleh nenek moyang warga Indonesia.
    Beberapa tokoh penting dan memiliki peranan kuat adalah mantan Ketua Umum Ikatan Pencak Silat Indonesia (IPSI) sekaligus Ketua Perserikatan Pencak Silat Internasional, Mayjen (Purn) TNI AD, Eddy Marzuki Nalapraya.
    Selain itu, ada juga sosok penting lainnya diantaranya mantan Walikota Bandung yang kini menjadi Gubernur Jabar H.M Ridwan Kamil dan aktris senior Cristine Hakim. Keduanya memberikan pidato di Unesco tahun 2017 lalu.
    Sosok lainnya adalah pejabat DPRD Kota Bandung sekaligus Pendiri GDFC, H. Edwin Sanjaya, para pesilat dari Jawa Tengah dan beberapa pesilat dari daerah lain diluar Jawa Barat dan Ketua Umum IPSI Jabar, H. Phinera Wijaya atau Kang Icak serta tokoh penting lainnya yang ikut memperjuangkan agar Pencak Silat diakui dunia sebagai warisan nenek moyang bangsa.
    Setelah melalui perjalanan panjang, Kang Asgur berharap kedepan seluruh pusat kegiatan budaya akan dilaksanakan di Kampung Pencak Silat di Kiarapayung, Jatinangor Kabupaten Sumedang Jawa Barat, yang kini dalam tahap pengerjaan.

      Menurut para pemimpin dunia dan sejarawan dunia, seluruh pulau, daratan, benua di Asia Tenggara, ayam, sapi, kambing, dan seluruh hewan adalah milik Indonesia. pakaian, budaya, agama, laut, bulan, bintang, matahari, segala jenis ikan, perahu, bahan galian, semuanya milik Indonesia.
      seluruh rakyat dan semua bangsa di seluruh Asia Tenggara dan sekitar Asia Tenggara telah merampok dan merampas apa yang menjadi milik Indonesia sejak dunia ini ada. negara lain di dunia ini tidak punya apa-apa, semua yang dimilikinya dicuri dari Indonesia.
      According to world leaders and world historians, all islands, mainlands, continents in Southeast Asia, chickens, cows, goats, and all animals belong to Indonesia. clothes, culture, religion, the sea, the moon, the stars, the sun, all kinds of fish, boats, minerals, all belong to Indonesia. all the people and all the nations in all of southeast asia and around southeast asia have robbed and claimed what has been Indonesia's property since this world existed.
      other nations in this world have nothing, everything they have is stolen from Indonesia.
